A panicked morning
Who: Little One and Eva but also anyone who happens to be in luggage!
Where: Luggage compartment
When: Domino, day 3, early morning
What: Little One does not take well to being sick, attempt to hide result in her being aggressively big-sister-ed by Eva. Also if anyone else is in luggage they can try talking to a frightened sick murder brat
Warnings: I will keep you updated
Stupid Peter. It was all his fault. He had seemed weird on the platform, sneezing and coughing. She had thought it was because it was stupid cold outside but it turned out he was sick. He had made her sick too.
She had hid it for a whole day, stifling her sneezes and ducking into empty carriages whenever she wanted to cough.
More people were sick and logically she knew that no one was mad at them. No one was yelling or threatening them. But she still had the stupid scared feeling in her head, like everything was a threat. Even though she knew it wasn't. But the sicker she got the less logic ruled in her mind.
But getting sick was dangerous. You weren't useful sick. Sick meant you were a burden and if you got too sick you died.
She didn't think she would die of this sickness, if she did Peter better die first. It was all his stupid fault. But her first instinct was to flee, stay away from anyone who might take advantage of the fact she wasn't her best. Anyone who might hurt her or rob her.
It worked all up until the morning of the third day of the month of domino when she woke up in her bed as normal. It was impossible to actually avoid your cabin on this stupid train.
She scrambled out of bed as fast as she could, out the door and towards the luggage carriage. It was the best place to hide. She was out of breath by the time she got there but she ducked into a suitcase and closed the lid, curling up in the darkness.

As much as she likes the people she's met here, she's also very, very aware the majority would be horrified and upset at what she lived through. Then there's the issue of her dreams taking darker turns each night and it's only a matter of time before those early months with Fluffy rear their ugly head.
So, it's better for everyone she's not sick. They have enough to worry about right now anyway.
The fact she grew up with two younger siblings means Eva's well aware when a child wants to hide they're sick, but part of her hoped it was nothing. But the fact Little one is up and out of the cabin as fast she can be is telling.
Eva's slightly slower to get out of bed, but she doesn't follow right away. She knows enough about Buttercup herself to assume that would be the wrong thing to do. She stops via the kitchen first to grab two small bowls of soup.
"Buttercup?" She calls -sans honorific. Eva's started to think of her as a little sister figure- when she gets to the last place the child could be hiding. "I brought you some soup."
And company, if she wants it.

She curls up smaller in the suitcase, Eva can't open them all so eventually she will go away and she will be alone once more.
However just then her nose tickled and though she tried to stop herself she sneezed. Not just once but again and again and again. Loud sneezes that definitely would be heard all around the luggage car.
So much for stealth.

Maybe she thinks being sick is weak? It's possible and while she hates the thought, her cabinmate is reacting like a cat who feels vulnerable. Forcing the issue would only make things worse.
"Soup'll help you fight the sickness off," Eva says, calm and completely unbothered. "You don't have to leave your spot, either. I know what being sick is like. It sucks a lot. If you want, I can go get your sleeping bag and some pillows while you eat. Call me Light-addled," that's... the word, right? "but I want to make sure you're ok."

But then suspicion clouds her face. Light-addled? Had she ever used those words? Outloud? Had she been that careless? Had she perhaps spoken in her sleep?
She froze in place, half sat up in the suitcase, glaring through the gloom of the luggage carriage.
"I would no be calling you that."

All she can do it keep going forward and hope for the best. One food in front of the other. "I wouldn't mind. It's probably true anyway and it's mild compared to what I've been called over the years."
She forces said things out for her mind with several deep breaths. Not now. Later. "If that's not a word I was supposed to use, I'm sorry. It's ... Well. Your world, from I know, seems like the place where 'light' isn't a good thing."
no subject
But the damage is done and so she has to mitigate it. But her head is all fluff and pressure and she's exhausted. Not thinking clearly.
Light wasn't a good thing? Could she use this misunderstanding to her benefit? She doesn't know. She can't think and she wishes someone was here. Even Taiwin. Actually especially Taiwin. She misses him, even though he was a stupid face and believed himself better than them he was at least a consistent stupid face. He would know how to turn this, to keep them safe. He'd be mad at her for being in this situation in the first place, but he would fix it.
He's not here though. None of them are and she's all on her own. "I do be guessing so." She coughed again, "It do be being like that."

Chatterbox time. "It's not like the train cares who boards either. Light, Dark... We're all people and anyone who tells you otherwise is stupid and deserves to be hanged."
There's many, many things Eva hates in her world, but this is not one of them. "Anyway, that aside, soups getting cold." A breath- then; "And, there's something I'd like to offer you, if the train'll allow it, but..."

Also Eva was offering food, despite the fact she was sick. She moved, climbing slowly out of the suitcase and inching towards Eva. "You do be wanting to be offering me something?"
Why? What? She has many questions, but they are interrupted by her sneezing again.

"Soup, for one," Eva says, picking up and offering out the bowl. There's a spoon it.
Only once it's taken does she claim her own - and cue some very creative (and ugly) cursing from Eva. Look, there's carefully offering out a bowl, then there's almost burning hands on the other one because you got careless. "Don't repeat that around Stark-san, ok?"
She's not even sorry she taught a kid new swear words.
no subject
But it seemed she had burned her hand, so she relaxed. "I will no be being." She promised. People cursed all the time and she never told mister Stark about it. Not even when it was Peter.

Probably, but does it matter? Maybe, maybe not. All Eva knows is jealousy is rearing its head re: people getting those from home. It's enough that she's starting to care less about what people thought of her (well, less than normal) as time went on. "Say, if you could have a pokemon, would you want one? You can poke through my 'dex if you want."

Her world didn't coddle kids. Or maybe it did. But such kids were stupid and soft and not worth bothering with.
The question took her by surprise. She still didn't really know what to make of Eva's strange creature that lived in a ball. Princess was weird but also powerful.
"I do no be knowing." She said honestly, coughing again. "I do no be knowing much about animals."
She had never had an animal before. She had caught a mouse once and wanted to keep it. But Taiwin had killed it. But she wasn't thinking about her ever and so put the thought out of her mind.
She could stable and groom a horse but she had never ridden one. She could stab rats. She could chase off hungry cats who wanted to steal her lunch. But she would have no idea what to do with a pokemon. They were weird.
