So You're Buying Things From A Train, On A Train.
Who: Nita Callahan and YOU! (aka Open Post!)
Where: The Standard Caras is becoming standard for her...
When: Day two of Egret, late in the morning.
What: Nita buys many things from the shop.
Warnings: Not applicable this time! Except silliness, maybe.
Nita can be found at the shop-slash-vending-machine in the Standard Carriage, either waiting for someone or just tapping on the menu to see all her options.
"Let's see, what to get first? Well, I can always try getting something from home, see what information this train can work off of..."
(There will be toplevels for each section linked above! She's also ordering from 'most expensive per item' to 'lease expensive per item', so the food happens last. There is no tag order, so feel free to respond to what she's doing or ask her to move over and let YOUR character buy something!)

By which she meant she was the overpowered oaf!
"I don't want to impose on anyone." Except a guitar might actually be for the greater good...or at least enough to soothe some of the savage beasts on the train.

But then again, appearances can be deceiving...
"I don't think anyone here would mind an expansion of the musical repertoire, if you catch my drift."
People could only survive on meme-tastic early 21st-century pop tunes for so long!
no subject
That was a blessing.
Though Renee would definitely agree with the pop tunes! She much preferred heavy metal, when it came down to it, though she could play anything she got music for--or figure out chords, too.
"Well, we've got a couple decent bards on the train who do more...I can't call it classical, it's otherworldly music, really." Since both Maglor and Sarai weren't from Earth, as far as Renee knew. "But I do get your drift."

Nita taps the screen again, clearing her last purchase.
"We're all otherworldly to each other, here. Well, mostly."
It was like the world 'alien'. Or humanoid.

"Normally I don't really care, but considering who we're all stuck with, it's probably best not to try hard to yank people's chains, you know?" Renee chuckled a bit at that.
"Yeah, I might wanna ask Tony to try to build me a speed limiter, but there's so much other stuff I find myself wishing I had, too...like my costume. I might think about getting that, too. Unstable molecules. Bet Stark'd have a field day with that."
Then again, it might be interesting to have a bunch of suits made for the others. Keep team colors, use unstable molecules to make costumes people preferred...there was maybe some merit in that.

'Fight club' exists for a reason, after all.
"Think if he teamed up with Kumoko, we could all get matching outfits?"
Moreso than the hoodies did, that is!
no subject
"Tony? I don't know. I mean I thought Kumoko and Dread had the corner on the clothing market on the train and Tony did tech stuff. But I'm not the one who knows things, here."
Renee didn't mind being rank and file, though. Not everyone could be a leader--some people had to follow, and she was content being one of those.

You're not alone, Renee - you can take comfort in that!
"You'd be surprised how they can be combined - though I don't think this train knows the first thing about that sort of fashion."
The teasing, even with the target being the train, is lighthearted, and she pokes the shop screen lightly to emphasize this.

Though she did take some comfort in the fact that it wasn't easy. Sometimes she felt like a slouch--she wanted to go to space, but so far things hadn't worked out.
"That I believe! Cuz I've seen some really strange fashions out of the train." Mostly she's thinking of the Ren Faire fashions they had on the goblin world, but she does offer up a cheesy grin and a shrug. "It wasn't unbearable, just...I felt weird."
hark!!! A returnbie!
Depending on how much you liked math.
"Getting dumped into someone else's culture comes with that a lot, I've found."
And then there were cases like Dairine, where they got along better in a different planet's culture than on Earth, sometimes.

It sure made her brain work out, but it also made her tired once she was done. At least it was good for letting her sleep without nightmares, in the long run.
"Yeah, I hear that, tell me about it! I'd get told stories about going to Genosha. I wouldn't wanna live there, but especially now that you're not in danger if you go there as a mutant, I think I'd be curious to at least visit there, once...but I've never been out of the States before, so that probably counts for any foreign country, honestly."
Think we could use this as a thread-wrap?
"Genosha, huh?"
It's not a place she's heard of.
"How'd things change there?"
Nita gestures to the seats.
"Wanna have a seat so we can talk about it better? I think I'd like to hear those stories..."
sure but I wanna do more with Neets then! you can't leave me hanging!
Renee made a face. "So of course the stories I start telling you are all gloom and doom! It's not always that way, you know. There are a lot of pretty places on Earth. If you like dinosaurs, you'd like the Savage Land--never been there, either, but it's more stories I've heard, ya know?"
She shrugged and spread her hands, even as she flopped on to one of the seats. "It's kind of annoying to be a spectator or hear things secondhand, though."
XDDD Heheh, fair enough! A few more question-and-answer tags, then.
"Or segregation, for that matter. Kind of hard to just pull a 180 once that's gone down..."
Of course, the next remark begets a grin. "Ever seen dinosaurs in New York? If it's stories you want, we can trade."
She took the seat across from Renee. "I get what you mean. Hearing about something big going down when you could have done something... What places have you been to, then? Train stuff doesn't have to count," she amended.
no subject
Sure there probably had been dinosaurs in New York on her world. At least once. And if not dinosaurs? Renee was sure aliens had been a thing...wasn't it all the time that they came to threaten New York? But why there? Washington was the capital of the US--oh wait. The United Nations building was there, wasn't it?
"Well, I grew up outside of Chicago. So I mean, after I got moved to New York--the state--I lived in Salem Center. Mostly I was catching up on schoolwork I missed, so I didn't get out that much," she admitted. "Pretty much been in only those two places, sadly."
no subject
She shakes her head, fighting off a grimace.
"Salem Center, huh? I'm from Hempstead myself. Never really lived anywhere else."
Then she gave a sardonic smile.
"Of course, then I became a wizard, and started going all sorts of places. Most of them not even on Earth! I prefer helping out at home, though."
In contrast to her sister, who preferred space adventures...

But Renee could still dream. With all the stuff going on the train, she'd probably see space someday from the outside of a fighter. She could hope.
"Nothing wrong with being a homebody, if you ask me. I spent plenty of time at the Institute lending a hand. The fights came to me," she said with a laugh. "I can safely say I stopped the Juggernaut too! Not for good, obviously, but there aren't many people who can even say they stopped him."
Renee wouldn't mention that she'd spent a month and a half in the hospital for the bragging rights, though.
no subject
Like space. Like other planets. Like one's own family - though, even there, it could also be overcome.
Her eyebrows go up. "The Juggernaut, huh? Must have been one hell of a fight."
Hospital visit or not.
