Putting the 'monster' in pokemon.
Who: Eva, Princess, and YOU
When: Day 3
Where: General/Standard carriage, Gym, Garden
What: Eva hasn't been a happy camper for a few days ergo Princess is not a happy fairy-type.
General
Eva knew it was going to be A Day when she woke up and Princess was more bristle than fluff more willing to hiss at people and glare at them, tail half unfurled in threat. So, of course she'd 'balled him and fled to get ready for the day. It was only temporary, the 'balling. She knew, intimately, that 'balling him, putting it out of her mind, and putting it off would only make things that much worse.
Gods, legends, and all that was sacred, she didn't want to deal with this part of being a fairy tamer. Not here on the train, not when she had new cabinmates. Not when she'd tried to keep her emotions and temper under control, had been polite and nice and cheerful, but...
Princess was a fairy and she his human.
She could deal with this. It wasn't going to be pleasant, but she could and would deal and so, she'd grabbed food, tea, and a book, then retreated to a standard coach to relax and unball Princess beneath one of the seats then clipped the pokeball to her belt.
Honestly, as long as the fairy wasn't being outright destructive (chewing/clawing things he shouldn't), not trying to seriously hurt people when he tripped them via telekinetically holding a shoe in place, or blowing cold air at them, Eva was willing to let him work it out of his system.
But she was always ready to recall him, even if she didn't look it. Looked like she wasn't paying attention to the prickly pink monster under her seat. But, whatever. If thought she didn't know what her pokemon was up to, or what those warning hisses and swipes meant, then they were blinder than blind and she did not care if that was uncharitable.
For her part, she offers a tired, if not wary smile to anyone brave enough to talk to her. "Just one of those days. It'll be fine."
Gym
"Go nuts," She said after she eventually wound up in the Gym car and Princess lept onto the training dummy with a hissed yowl and flash of teeth a miz of cat-rodent and thrice as sharp. She stepped back and took to leaning against the as she watched her fairy go to town on said dummy. "But only that one."
Without another pokemon trainer onboard, this would have to do and Eva kept more of an eye on the door than on the formerly cute pink fluff. He was teeth and claws and Icy Winds and Mega Punchs and Eva knew the outcome would be dust and ittybitty pieces within the hour.
After that, well, no-one would miss a few of the volleyballs, right?
Garden
Later, Eva can be found in the garden, slumped against a wall and curled up with arms pillowing her head, the hood of her orange hoodie pulled up, as if she's hiding from the world. Maybe she is. Who knows. At least Princess is beside her and the pokemon looks content, though one glance at his still unfurled, half bristled tail should be clue enough he's not exactly back to normal.
Eva doesn't care; for as alone as she feels with people who, until now, have likely thought she was joking about the monster side of 'pocket monsters', the worst is over.

standard coach
That made him stop.
"Excuse me for just passing by. What got into you, fluff?"
Yes, he's directing his question at the pokemon. He learned fast that Princess is no ordinary animal and since then he always treated him more like a person. Or rather a slightly wild but generally friendly animal spirit. If this was Valinor, he'd be some lower-level Maia. Last thing he expected from him was this show of temper. He looks up.
"Did something happen?" The question goes to Eva this time. He'd hate to intrude on anything private and yet he can't help but feel at least a bit concerned.

A hand darts down and she grabs the fairy by the scruff with a sharp tongue click.
'You feel possessive of them because your fairy's possessive of you. Your bond is raw and open-' Surge's words rattled her brain even though she knew why. She's known it since the Gym Battle with Surge.
"He's upset because I am. It'll pass."
It's the truth but not, because how, in the name of the Three Birds, does she explain the bond between trainer and fairy-monster?
no subject
Fëanor sits on the other side of the table.
"I can listen if you wish to talk," he offers.
no subject
You wouldn't understand. Don't come from Arkea. Only know him as cute and fluffy.
But the excuses die in her throat because the offer of listening? It's a port in a storm and how many times did she a tall ship or yacht come to Pallet for shelter? too many, because any port in a storm was a good one.
"To catch a pokemon doesn't mean you have a connection with it just because you caught it. Not unless you've poured hours into training and taming it. Me and Princess have been together for over a decade and it's known pokemon pick up on what their owner's feeling..."
Some more than others, but she doesn't want to get into that.

Gym (Because I couldn't resist~)
... Ever miss being an Umbreon? she found herself asking, hoping no one else in the carriage picked up on her internal 'voice'.
/... Not as such. But he does look like he needs a proper opponent,/ the peridexis observed.
So, walking over to the fairy-type's trainer, Nita kept her gaze on Princess.
"... Think he could use something else to play off of? Well, vent."
no subject
"So this'll make do." Because it has to. It must.
no subject
A reworked spell, made visible.
"... What about this? It won't shatter so easily."
no subject
Nope.
"...It could work. Just et away from you ASAP." Whatever it is, but Eva doesn't care. It could work and she's willing to try. "Princess! Target's the glowing ball."
Well, that gets the pokemon's attention, if only because a new thing to terrorize? yes please and thank you very much. Nita, though, might want to think fast, because the pokemon can move when he wants to.
And that sure is an incoming Bite.
Does magic canonically exist in Eva's AU? I know it does in canon.
They have legends and stories about it due to the way I've set up psychics in-universe.
o7 Good to know.

"You look kinda...not good."

The shrug's small and helpless, like she feels right now.

"Can I do anything to help?"
no subject
She means it. By the legends of Kanto, she means it. "But that's selfish."

She watches, blank-faced, as Princess rears back on hind legs and lets loose with a sparkling icy breath that coats the dummy in a thin sheen of ice.
"Probably not, as pokemon are kinda hard to miss."

"Eva?" He kneels at a safe distance from them. "You're not sick, are you?"

"... no, jus' tired. It's been A Day." There is a meaningful glance at the pink fluff, who's watching Seto with an exhausted wariness.

Garden
As he quietly walked through checking out what was already there he soon spotted Orange and something pink. He wasn't exactly sure what it was so he slowly walked over even so cautious.
"This carriage is really beautiful, don't you think?" He figured he might as well start off with something.
no subject
"Don't worry- I think he's too sleepy to go more than growl at you."
She hopes.

"Hey, Eva-san--" He stops for a moment when hears an angry growl from Princess, taking it as a signal to stay at a slight distance from the little pink buddy. "...one of those days? Is he sick?" Now he can't help but be concerned about both of them, since if Princess isn't feeling well, Eva's probably stressed from dealing with that.

It's blunt, a little frazzled, but she offers a tired, wry smile anyway. "It's a pokemon thing - a fairy thing, really. I can try and explain, if you want?"
She doesn't mind; the more she explains her world, the more she's working out what she can say... and what she can't or would get hackles raised or her morals brought into question.
Plus, it's a good distraction, for her at least.

"Oh. Yeah, tell me about it. Do you guys have a psychic link or something?"
