Anytime you need a friend I'm gonna be by your side
Characters: Tony, Ignis, Madoka, Prompto, Gladio and Peter
When: About a week after new arrivals
Where: Dining carriage
Warnings: Tony
Summary: Growing family dinner
Ignis had called on the fellow members of the Crownsguard to come to a family dinner one night. Normally he made dinner just for them and then had another dinner with Tony afterwards, but tonight was different and so he busily prepared something akin to the Skewered Wild Trout and Spicy Long-Bone Rib Steaks, those being some of Gladio & Prompto's favourites respectively. Working with this month's recipehs too, he made Cheese & Rosemary Focaccia as an appetizer without any onions.
He'd been given fish and meat from the townspeople that he'd helped rescue on the last mission on the ice world. Of course he'd tried politely to decline anything but the young father who'd mistakenly thought Madoka as his daughter (at the time) refused to hear it and the advisor didn't want to insult the man. So when Ignis came home he had just pounds of meat and fish that he stored away in the freezer for a special occasion.
Well now was one such as that.
Having informed Tony of his idea, the Red team leader then invited Peter to come meet the other side of the family. Madoka of course was all for it and she busily started working on side dishes and dessert. Normally the advisor had no problem tanking everything but he wanted Madoka to feel included and she'd worry he was taking too much on by himself. That was nonsense in Ignis' book but the bigger rule than his pride was not to make his daughter worry. It happened once and since he couldn't handle the onslaught of those eyes, he'd silently vowed to never go through that again.
Like ever.

Gladio eyed the table with the snacks, he'd sat himself at a table on the other side of the room from them, away from temptation. It clearly wasn't far enough. He could be over and back in a matter of seconds and no one would be any the wiser. Except himself. No... No he'd hold off. He had a drink and that's all he needed for now!
(ooc: Come one, come all! He's a chill giant~)

"Good evening, Gladio. How've you been settling in?"
[ooc: He's actually looking more friendly than the icon, but I liked the suit in it lol.]
no subject
"Getting there." He lifted his glass in a little mock salute. "You're looking fancy for a simple dinner."

.. well, or maybe it's just the fact she's just gotten a cute new dress. For once Madoka has ditched her usual blue train outfit, instead happily looking like the personification of a pink cupcake. A speeding pink cupcake, that is, since she keeps running back and forth between the kitchen and the dining carriage to make sure the food is all okay before it'll be served soon. She feels responsible too, after all! But her excitement makes her a bit less careful than usually, so you might just have a tiny pink whirlwind suddenly run into you by accident.
"Ah, I'm so sorry..!"

Chuckling, he looked at her in her new dress approvingly. "I see your dress has super speed powers," he teased her lightly.

He's vaguely listening to conversations nearby to see if anyone telling someone else they think it's rude Peter's working on something and not spending time getting to know the family. It probably is rude. He should probably stop.
He looks and offers a smile to whoever is nearby. "Uh, hey! Just uh... working on some stuff." He gestures to the notepad laid on out the table.

"Oh, you really are busy..!" She seems somewhat impressed. "Is it really important?"
no subject
"I should probably but it away though, I don't think I'll get away with not mingling for too much longer..." He glances up to see what Tony's doing or if he's caught on to the face Peter's being kind of anti-social.

He dropped down in the seat next to him and leaned in. His tone was almost a growl. "You're here to meet my new family not work on homework. Put those away before I chuck them and you into the Void."

"I already tried, there's no airlock to jettison out of." Peter says, lips in a thin 'WELP!' like line. He has not actually tried to throw himself out of airlock-but he jokes about doing it.
"Anyways, I thought I was early so I thought while I was waiting I could work on something else."

He looked around, shrugged and decided to wander over and introduce himself.
Gladio grabbed a chair as he passed, dropped it in front of the kid and dropped himself down. He sat on it backwards so he could fold his arms across the back and drop his head onto his arms. He was not going to intimidate the kid. Thanks to Prompto he was now a bit on edge about how people perceived him. Thanks to Tony and Ignis he was aware that first impressions mattered. So he tried to be as non-threatening as a guy as large as him could be.
"Peter, right?" Gladio asked, hoping like hell he'd remembered the name right.
no subject
"Holy shit!" He jumps horribly, eyes widening in alarm as he registers someone's talking to him. "Uh.. yeah. That's-that's me. Peter Parker." He glances up to see if anyone else heard him swear. It would be just his luck to get caught swearing with Madoka nearby. "Uh, nice to meet you."

Dinner
Main Meal
"Thought you said you didn't have the ingredients?" He'd teased Ignis, his smile wide for the skills that had to have been used to make a meal so much like the ones they'd had back home.
The whole group was sat around the table when the food arrived, he'd grabbed a seat next to Prompto and got himself comfortable. It was, so far, a pleasant affair. Everyone on their best behaviour. Everyone very eager to taste test the food that Ignis had made. Gladio's own stomach growled and caused him to laugh a second time, low and deep and full of good humour.
(ooc: Hijacking this! If everyone would want to tag into this thread for the main meal, that would be lovel! Though it's NOT a requirement! ^^ )
Re: Main Meal
"For all the headache and claustrophobia of this train, I, for one, am grateful to be here and that you all are with me. I had no idea I'd get a second chance at a family and yet here I have it. For that and for this wonderful meal, to Ignis and Madoka. You two have outdone yourselves in the best way."

Dessert
From what he'd been told, and what he'd heard in snippets of conversation around the table (and Madoka's nervous excitement), the pink haired teen was responsible for the dessert. So, as stuffed full of trout and steak he was, he knew without a doubt he had MORE than enough room for the sweet to come after. Gladio suspected that everyone was in the same boat as himself. No matter how much they had stuffed themselves they were all eager to try the dessert.
(ooc: Don't know what the dessert is so being deliberately vague! Again, feel free to all tag into this thread, but it's not a requirement!)

She's insisted on grabbing the dessert from the kitchen herself, but soon returns with a big serving plate filled with what looks like tons of small pastel coloured balls - white, pink, light green, yellow, there's some of everything. She made sure to make a lot of them, considering how many people there are.
(Yes, some of them have cute faces on them. How could she resist.)
"Um, it's daifuku! They're rice cakes with sweet filling." She has no idea if any of them have ever had it before, after all, so Madoka figures she should explain as she puts them down on the table and sits back down again. "I hope they're okay.."

Drinks

So far he'd been good. He'd minded his manners and, he hoped, been a credit to Ignis by not showing the man up or making a scene at the table. He'd been perfectly nice to Tony. Polite, even! This, Gladio thought, made it a successful evening. He'd gone back to that table off to the side and planted himself in a chair, legs stretched out, relaxed and just observing the goings on around him.

Taking a sip of the beer, Ignis hid his wince. Beer was just too basic for him, since he preferred a well mixed cocktail or a good wine. But he sat there and looked at his bottle with one hand around it on the table. "So how is that bachelor party coming along?"

After Dinner~ End of the Night
He liked that there wasn't even a question over where Gladio was going afterward. He had another hem to fix on a shirt, so he had been chatting the big guy's ear off from where he was relaxing against the bed on the floor with a book. They were both in their pjs by now and it wouldn't be too long before Yugi came to bed too. Prompto snipped the string and looked back proudly at his shirt. Perfect!
His gaze then slid to his.. what were they supposed to call each other? Lover seemed too uh.. he didn't know the right word, but it was that. They hadn't talked about things enough to know if 'boyfriend' was appropriate. Prompto was just going to go with favorite. He didn't need to define favorite what, right? Gladdy was his favorite everything. Slipping closer, he lightly ran his fingers through his favorite long hair. "Want to hand me my brush?" He asked, it was just out of his reach on the night table.
Re: After Dinner~ End of the Night
Once the party was over it just seemed natural to leave with Prompto. And just as natural to walk past his cabin and toward Prompto's. While he didn't really enjoy not being able to wake up at Prompto's side, he'd taken a liking to falling asleep with him in his arms. So that's where they would end up. Sat in Prompto's cabin, dressed for bed with Gladio opting only for the pj bottoms. They both sat on the floor, Prompto fixing a shirt and him listening to everything the blonde said. There was a book open on his lap, but he'd much rather just hear what Prompto had to say.
And when one of those things was to ask for a brush, Gladio chuckled. "Sure." He replied, smiling at the fingers playing with his hair. Sadly he had to move away from those fingers to lean to the other side and stretch out an arm to snag the brush which he handed to his partner. "Ask and ye shall receive."
no subject
He worked carefully as he dragged the brush through the dark, lovely locks. "You're not allowed to cut this now, you know that right?" He snickered and went in for another stroke. "I like it even better when it's longer."
