Summary: Growing family dinner




Ignis had called on the fellow members of the Crownsguard to come to a family dinner one night. Normally he made dinner just for them and then had another dinner with Tony afterwards, but tonight was different and so he busily prepared something akin to the Skewered Wild Trout and Spicy Long-Bone Rib Steaks, those being some of Gladio & Prompto's favourites respectively. Working with this month's recipehs too, he made Cheese & Rosemary Focaccia as an appetizer without any onions.

He'd been given fish and meat from the townspeople that he'd helped rescue on the last mission on the ice world. Of course he'd tried politely to decline anything but the young father who'd mistakenly thought Madoka as his daughter (at the time) refused to hear it and the advisor didn't want to insult the man. So when Ignis came home he had just pounds of meat and fish that he stored away in the freezer for a special occasion.

Well now was one such as that.

Having informed Tony of his idea, the Red team leader then invited Peter to come meet the other side of the family. Madoka of course was all for it and she busily started working on side dishes and dessert. Normally the advisor had no problem tanking everything but he wanted Madoka to feel included and she'd worry he was taking too much on by himself. That was nonsense in Ignis' book but the bigger rule than his pride was not to make his daughter worry. It happened once and since he couldn't handle the onslaught of those eyes, he'd silently vowed to never go through that again.

Like ever.

"Bold of you, to assume I didn't do that first." He grins at his mentor a moment before shoving the notes out of view. He told Conan he'd keep his secret and that's exactly what he intends to do, even if that means not telling Tony. Although, he also warned that if he though the should bring Mr Stark in that he would.

"Just something for a friend." He shrugs. It is technically the truth. "They kinda wanna keep it on the DL so..." He trails off, not bothering to say he can't tell Tony.

He smirked and shook his head. "With the width of your interests, it isn't a surprise you'd have more than one project going. You're like me when it comes to that." Chip off the old block, even if he wasn't related to said block.

"Aw, come on. You realize how much help you'd give if you just tell me and make me promise not to spread it around. You know I can keep a secret." Right? Wasn't that obvious yet? "If you don't let me help I'll make you put that away."

Peter looks at Tony with a suspicious squint because he's pretty sure that was meant to be manipulative but he won't fall for it. He's already shoved the notes away so he'll just look at it later and decide on what books to buy then-so far he's planning on something about telomerase and apoptosis since that seems to be a pretty constant thing in these notes.

"Sorry, Mr Stark. But I promised." He says, not actually sounding very sorry. "But, if I did tell them that if I thought it was something you should definitely know about, I would have to tell you. Right now, I'm trying to do this on my own."

"Fine." No he wasn't jealous or feeling left out, that's crazy talk. He was totally okay with Peter wanting to do some secret project. Totally.

"Fine. Then have you met everyone here? These two new fellows here are friends from Ignis' world. They're some kind of special guardsmen for his king. Either that or part of a boy band, I can't really tell."

He can't help it. He tries-he really tries not to but Tony can probably see his straight face waning and cracking before he's suddenly just giggling. He's trying as hard as he can to keep them silent and even leans against the older man to try and help muffle his laughing.

"With how their hair is styled-" He swallows, still laughing. "I'd say boyband."

It was equally hard for Tony to keep the 'disapproving dad' look on his face as Peter giggles. He might have even succeeded but the part about their hair was just too spot on. Despite the fraying of that look and the laughter in his own voice, he pointed an accusing finger at him.

"You be nice!" He reached out and caught Peter in a headlock and ruffled his hair. It was the only punishment he could think of while he continued to laugh at the kid.
