The Good and Bad Side of Hattori

Morning: (For Madoka! (And Kaito))

He felt a little foolish doing all of this but Madoka was such a sweet friend. He wasn't doing anything with his points anyway so this was completely justified. It was totally normal for an eighteen year old to have a tea party with a fourteen year old, right? Yeah well, take a look at her face and then try to tell her no and see what happens to you.

He'd baked some strawberry bread, made some strawberry tea, and had a bowl of fresh strawberries. He put everything on a tray and headed to the quiet room he'd asked Madoka to join him in. He was hoping he wouldn't run into anyone.

Late Afternoon: (For Peter and Conan!)

He can't help it. He gets bored around here. He'd been here long enough to know about Peter's sweet tooth which gave him a great idea. He got a plate out, put some wax paper down, and a couple of large round onions. On the stove top, he heated a pan and some simple syrup and red food coloring. He found some meat skewers to use and jammed one in each onion.

Looking over at Conan, he grinned. "If I give you my ticket will you go grab a bag of candy from the train store? I don't want to be too mean."

"Hattori?" Kaito blinks at him.

"D'you... need a hand, maybe?"

He startled and looked up when he heard his name. Inwardly he cringed. Was there any chance he wasn't going to get teased for this? No, probably not.

He grinned awkwardly. "Yeah.. uh, yeah that would be great." Please don't ask about the very obvious strawberry overload of treats on his tray.

It's that exact moment that Madoka decides to glance over at the hallway again. And despite not being able to hear anything, she can see the two boyss stand there as plain as day. Her eyes widen in surprise, and a moment later she's already moving over to open the door, staring at the both of them curiously before giving Kaito a smile.

"I didn't know we were all going to hang out together!" That sounds great to her though. Heiji is great, but so is Kaito! The more, the merrier, right? She's so caught up in the thought that she doesn't even notice what Heiji is holding, but then her gaze drops down enough to notice.

"Oh, and what is that..!" Are those strawberries? Madoka seems surprised, but definitely in a way that's already half-interested and excited at the same time.

"So what's with the... hello Madoka-san!"

He eyes the tray and then turns the Thief's grin on Hattori, only to backtrack slightly when Madoka comes out.

But only slightly.

Hattori's cheeks flush just a little red at that grin. Kaito, why?

"Yeah I thought uh.." He glances at Kaito wishing he'd disappear. "You liked that tea and cake we had a couple weeks ago so I um.. this is strawberry flavored." You know, like she really wanted but they didn't have so of course he bought it for her and please god stop looking at him like that Kaito!

Awkward pause.

"Mind if I set this down?"

"O.. Of course not!"

She still seems super surprised, but Madoka does at least back off a few steps so she isn't blocking the doorway all by herself. It's likely that she isn't even noticing the grin on Kaito's face at all - the items on the tray are taking up way too much of her attention for that.

"Is it because I was talking about strawberry tea before..?" And now he somehow got it and is sharing it with her? That idea is so touching that Madoka's brain really needs a few moments to process it.

"Aw, you got it for Madoka-chan? That's sweet of you, Hattori-kun~ Whatever would Toyama-san say?"
