Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

"I'm okay!" He called as he hauled himself up from the ground and dusted himself off. He turned to Nerdanel and offered a lopsided grin. "... Is it always a rocky landing like that?"

"No." She helps to dust him off (and straightens his collar, because some motions are instinctive)

"You are not injured?"

Duo felt his cheeks warming a little. Did Nerdanel realise what she was doing? He actually held himself still, taken aback to a time when he was very young, and the only mother figure he'd known was a nun with a gentle smile.

"N-no..." He winced a bit at the slight stutter and cleared his throat. "No I'm fine, I didn't hurt myself." Duo wanted to reassure this woman, having her worry about him, about anything, seemed very very wrong to him.

"Good." She smiles at him, still a little shaky.

"With the dream, and then this sudden recall... I worry overly, perhaps."

Duo frowned in concern and moved a hand to lightly touch her arm. "Is everything alright?"

He remembered about the dream, was that what it had all been about? Duo had hit evac before he'd seen the end result of those darkening clouds.

She smiles and reaches to squeeze his hand in thanks.

"It will be, once I see that everyone is back safely. This whole thing has... stirred ancient memories."

Feanor will... not be in a good state.

He still looked very concerned, but he could understand what she meant. At least from his own memories. He couldn't imagine what 'ancient memories' meant and he didn't want to pry while they were still fresh in her mind.

"You should go find em! Make sure everyone is alright." Duo gave her as warm and reassuring a smile as he could muster. "I'm sure they're all present and accounted for."

She smiles gratefully at him.

"Thank you, Duo. I am glad you are alright! You should check on your own friends too, I am sure you are just as worried!"

"I'll go look for em, don't worry." Duo didn't even need to check on Trowa, he knew he at least would have landed on his feet. But he would go and look check on others. Even if it was from afar.

She pats his hand fondly.

"I hope everyone made it back safely for you too."

"I'm pretty sure my people are alright." Duo grinned. "Trowa is like a cat. Always falls on his feet."

She laughs. "You'll have to introduce me sometime!"

[maxwellsdaemon]

"I'd love to!" And he'd bet Trowa would like her as well. "Maybe under better circumstances though..."

"A good idea." She agrees, and smiles fondly at him as she brushes a stray strand of hair from his eyes. "Off you go then, and I will do the same."

Duo felt his cheeks warming a little as he gave her a big grin and had to really resist the strangest urge to hug her. He laughed at his own strange thoughts. "Uh, yeah, you be careful, okay? I'll see ya, 'Danel!" And off he went before he did something really embarrassing.

Oh! Oh, oh, he did it twice, it must be deliberate!

Nerdanel presses a wondering hand to her heart as Duo goes. She should... maybe ask if Feanaro minds adding another boy, yes? Surely he won't mind. He loves children as much as she does!
