Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

Cautiously, he flexes his fingers and then makes a fist.

"It doesn't hurt anymore," he says with some surprise.

Conan had known Sarai long enough, that he would have almost be willing to tell her a little more. If Joss hadn't been right there, and if they weren't currently surrounded by other people.

Sarai nodded as Joss pointed out how pale Conan was. "You're right. He likely needs a good meal and rest, at the very least. He's lost a good amount of blood, for someone his size."

She gave a bit of a sigh and looked at the other boy, then to Conan. "You two both get a bite to eat, and then see Conan to 1B? Then you at least ought to come back and get someone to look at you--you look as though you've been punched in the face, Joss."

It's not particularly bossy or demanding, especially not from Sarai--she's not the type. But Joss is on her team, and there's still a bit of 'you are mine to take care of' attitude there. Not that Joss is the only one suffering that, lately.

Joss snorts. “Yes, Mum,” he says sarcastically, because he knows he’s got a reputation to maintain. “It’s really not that bad. Got thrown against some shelves during takeoff. Misa said she’ll fix me up.” Which is good, because his left eye is now purple and beginning to swell shut.

He moves to help Conan to his feet.

“Right, you heard the lady. Let’s get you to the kitchen.”

"I can make it back to the cabin by myself, you realize."

But he doesn't resist Joss's help as he gets pulled back to his feet.

"Still!" Joss isn't the only one with a reputation to maintain. She simply supports Conan with a hand.

"I should stay here. But if you have any gratitude, I would love if you brought me some food...or told my husband I was here healing others, if you would!"

Sarai would warn them to be careful, after the day's events...but they should be safe on the train, now. Shouldn't they?

“I’m not the one who just got gored by a wild animal, idiot,” Joss chides Conan, almost affectionately. “She’s right. Plus, I’m starving and Doctor’s not around so I’m going to sneak as many sweets as I can possibly manage.” It’s been ten days of nothing but the Doctor’s patented refeeding diet of healthy soups and Joscelin is so bored he could scream. He’s slowly begun putting on weight, but not quickly enough for the Doctor’s tastes. Even though he’s several inches taller than Conan, he barely weighs more than the smaller boy. All of his ribs show as he reclaims his rather bloody tunic from Conan, seeing as it’s no longer needed.

“Let’s go find something to eat. You need iron. So...red meat, spinach, chocolate, lentils, broccoli...”

Joss ticks several more foods off using his fingers. If there is one thing a vampire knows, it’s which foods help with anemia. They help take the edge off between blood meals.

"Thanks, Sarai." Conan doesn't say anything, but her steadying hand is appreciated.

Conan makes a face at Joss' list of foods. "Do we even have all those in the kitchen?"
