Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

Allen had thankfully thought quickly to use his innocence as a way to not fall over, his mild annoyance slowly bubbling up to the surface with each passing second. His mind racing over what had just happened and just... why it had happened.

He was never one to run away from a fight, more so if it was to save people so to have someone force his hand when he felt like he could do something. Once the train had started off and he was no longer in danger of falling over he looked at the person who he bumped in to and trying his hardest to not show his annoyance at the time being.

"Are you okay? I mean you didn't hurt yourself, not okay at the situation."

"Not injured, no," she said, sizing Allen up in turn to make sure the same could be said for him. She clung to her sword, sheathed again now, her expression pinched with quiet fury. "But if I get my hands on the one who forced me back..."

Well, in all truth, violence wasn't her way to resolve things, so chances were they would be fine. But oh did she wish right now that violence were her way.

"I can't believe...!" She looked at him with wide eyes, still aghast. "We left them behind! We just left these people to die."

"I think a lot of us at this point would like to get our hands on whoever so he could explain himself." Allen was clearly unhappy about the situation, angrier than he has been before now.

He would like answers if he was honest. Allen decided that instead of reacting to his anger... At least not until he was in the gym or something, he instead tried to sigh slightly. It didn't help him any.

"All because of whatever it was that appeared. You would think if that is something so bad, we should be informed so we could have done something!" Okay, the anger really was not going to go away anytime soon and when it does it will be replaced with regret. Lots and lots of guilt and regret.

"But I guess at least we have an agreement. We are both not happy with how it went."

"Yes, we can agree on that much, and I'm sure there are at least some more people on the train who will agree with us." Her friends were kind, good people, she couldn't really see them being so selfish as they'd rather save themselves than civilians.

She turned thoughtful, though, pushing aside her own anger with the experience of someone who had to function while witnessing injustices for years. It just stung so very much that she had to do it again. "I think I would like to know more about these creatures, these... shades. If we are right and the train did run from them, then I want to know what's so different about them compared to all the other enemies we fight. If whoever runs the train thinks we can't defeat this enemy, they must know more than we do."

he crossed his arms, his mind wondering through what the other was saying. It was helping him with the anger at least, which he knew with time would change into something else completely.

"I would like to know more too. Just to understand what the other is thinking and why it might think we cant deal with it and to instead just take us without giving us even the choice." As he had spoken he was at least a tiny bit calmer.

"Information is always important to have to be able to handle a situation. Unless it was a surprise, but the sudden taking us means it wasn't a surprise to an extent."

"At the very least, the trains knew enough about the shades to know that they are a danger which can't be defeated. Which begs the question, why did it send us to this world anyway to fight them, and then rip us away before we could fight?"

The more she thought about it, the less sense it made. Maybe they were simply working with completely wrong assumptions. Maybe they were missing key pieces. It was terribly frustrating.

"Normally, I would assume that we were sent there to fight against the shades, since the monsters didn't seem to be anything beyond what the locals could handle. Or at least not a danger of the scale we handled before. So... do you think it might have changed its mind? Suddenly become frightened?"

He crossed his arms for a moment, thinking over a few possibilities. There must be an answer that they could come up with, but so far nothing seemed to jump at him.

"I don't think that's the case. What would the purpose of changing it's mind be or something that seemed simple? Yes it's simple but even I see that once you decide on something you see it through. It has to be to do with what appeared just before we were pulled."

"Then we will need more information," she said, sighing in frustration, "maybe we can figure it out if we ask around and see what experiences everyone had. I didn't see anything but the shades appearing and moving to attack but there are people with many different powers on the train, someone else might have noticed more."

He nodded slightly. Honestly, his trust in the train has gone down slightly, but he figured there must be others who noticed something. So the idea of asking around seemed like the bets idea.

"That sounds like a best bet really. See if anyone sense something or noticed something we might not have"

It would at the very least give them something to do, however deceptive the fruitfulness of it might be.

"Very well, then we will do that. If you learn anything useful, you know how to contact me, and if I learn anything I will do the same." She started towards the door, determined to start hunting down the people she knew and quiz them.
