Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

She was fast, even while blasting, and honestly? Renee sure as hell didn't mind being used as a springboard, if Prisoner needed a good way to stay up there. She signed that information to him--more for practice for herself, since he could hear just fine.

But she didn't bother waiting for an answer right now. It was far more important, in Renee's mind, to get the hell up there and take the fight to--well, whatever that shit was.

Renee grabbed Prisoner's hand. The red aura that signified her rocket flight power surrounded them both as she leapt into the air and shot into it once again. (Hey, let the locals think Zetta was flying around again--she didn't care!)

"Time to kiss your life goodbye!" Renee sang, cockily, as they flew ever higher.

The thing Prisoner appreciated the most about this entire situation was how Renee's power included him somehow, so when she went rocketing off she didn't absolutely dislocate the shoulder of the body. Not that that would really hurt or anything, it would just be inconvenient, you know?

But now that they were rocketing towards the shadows Prisoner was quite excited. Instead of the flame that made up his head going out, it grew in intensity and changed from magenta to a pinkish orange, the trail growing longer as he grew more hype. This would be so much more fun than the beasties they were fighting before. Even if they were somewhat intelligent they reminded him of the beasties from home, and those guys were relatively mindless.

Renee would feel Prisoner grip her hand just a little bit tighter as he wound up to either fling himself from her or otherwise get yeeted by her, his spear temporarily turning back into a charm on his bracelet. He could summon it at will and it occurred to him that it would be a little bit easier for him to move if he had it as a charm for the moment.

He was shaking with anticipation. Finally: some real fucking content.

The beeping was getting louder. The SCA was rather insistent now, wasn't it?

Renee ignored that.

"The fuck?" she said, as things went still around them save for the insistent beeping and the strange, sputtering noise that her jet propulsion power made.

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Renee asked, even as she started to be able to make out weird fucking shapes of some sort in those clouds.

It was in that moment that she felt a certain familiar power take hold. A teleport? That confused her even more, as the golden glow surrounded them--but that gave Renee a terrible foreboding feeling in her gut. More than the weird shapes in the clouds had...

"Fuck! No! Shit! Brace for impact!"

She managed to cut the propulsion just as they reappeared in the luggage car--just to crash into the ceiling with a resounding crack!

Well, Renee had always said she had a hard head...

Prisoner had no clue what was going on when it seemed as if the world went still, and he was confused. They had been going at quite a pace, so for things to seem to hang in the air like this was incredibly confusing. More than anything, though, he was trying to focus on the shapes in the clouds. What were those things?

Prisoner was not so familiar with this feeling for teleporting: his own teleporting back at home felt more like a tingle of electricity with a crack of lightning as he slammed his hands together and to the ground, not... this.

As she yelled her first expletive he let go of her hand, with her second he managed to twist away from her just enough to not hit her, and by the time they were in the luggage car he threw his arms up to protect what would be a head on anyone else. He wouldn't be able to explain why he did that, it was just some residual instinct left in tact for him. As he hit the ceiling of the luggage car there was a sickening sound of bones snapping, followed by him falling down to the floor next to Renee.

Prisoner was not one to be dazed for long, and he sat up rather quickly. He seemed to be trying to move his now shattered arms, confused when they would move and twitch, but did not have the required sturdiness to stay aloft as he expected. He hadn't quite noticed Renee's state of being yet.

Renee was face down on the floor. She twitched once, and failed to sit up a few times before rolling over and laying on her back, looking up at the ceiling. It didn't even have a dent in it. Dammit.

"Anyone catch the number of that Juggernaut?" she asked, putting a finger up as if attempting to make a point. Then she laughed at herself, weakly.

Even having bounced her head off the ceiling of the luggage car, she could tell the train was going at a pretty amazing speed. It made her headache worse, but it also made Renee grimace.

"The fuck is that?" she asked, and glanced over at Prisoner. Oh, shit. She knew she wasn't gonna get an answer from him.

The comment about the Juggernaut is what caught Prisoner's attention and tipped him off that maybe she wasn't actually okay? He quit trying to pick his arm up and looked over to her. Her eyes looked weird, not like they should, and that's when the worry set in. This was a new feeling for him and he wasn't entirely certain what it meant, but he knew he needed her to get help for.... Whatever was making her weird.

At the question he shrugged his shoulders as best as he could for what bones were broken. He had no clue what that was and why the train was going so fast, nor could he give more of an answer outside of the shrug anyway. He looked around and noticed there were a myriad of people in the room with them and he started trying to get up. He found one of his knees weren't working properly so he had to do his best, but after careening against one of the walls to stabilize himself, he managed to get up.

He was just looking around the room at this point, assessing who all was here.

"This is not good. No, no." Prisoner wasn't the only one who was trying to get to their feet, either. It didn't hurt that she was stubborn, but there Renee was, at least making the attempt.

The fact that the room was spinning as if she'd been on a bender before now? That didn't help things at all. She lurched forward, ending up on her hands and knees, and swallowed hard. Yeah, that was vague nausea, but there were way too many people packed in here for Renee to let herself do a technicolor yawn.

Maybe later. About then, another redhead came hurrying over, face a picture of concern.

"Renee, what happened!" That's from Cal, as he looks from the other redhead to Prisoner. Renee snorted. "He can't tell you, he doesn't have a mouth!" She paused. "I need to go to the infirmary."

At least there was a part of her that was being sensible. "And he needs a sandwich," she said, with a vague wave to Prisoner. She almost lurched forward again to faceplant on the floor, but caught herself in time.

"Yeah, I should go sooner rather than later," she admitted.

Webmind didn't need to say that the two of them looked ill; it was patently obvious.

But- "He can regain health just from eating?"

He sounded just the slightest bit baffled as he came to help steady Renee with Cal, the image on his screen a :/ to match.

"We can help with both of those needs, however."
