Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

She gave a small nod. She was remembering now for sure, so her usual enthusiasm was dampened.

Duo was quiet for a moment, just watching her. Then he smiled and reached out to take her hand. "C'mon..." He was gentle as he pulled her along with him and walked with her through the carriages to the kitchen.
najaran: (But Why?)

She held his hand when he offered and walked with him, shoulders a bit wilted.

He walked her into the kitchen and only let go of her hand so that he could go and check out what was in the fridge. It was opened wide enough for Najaran to take a look inside. "Anything catching your fancy?" He called with a grin, hoping the lure of food would maybe perk her up some.
najaran: (I'll do it after dinner kay?)

It worked. She leaned in and licked her lips and... started pulling out lots of different kinds of things...

It was the cheapest of manipulations and Duo felt bad for it, but he could see immediately how Najaran seemed to cheer up at the sight of food so struggled to feel really bad about it.

He just stepped back and let her pick out what she needed.

She pulled out enough to feed a dozen people, then, juggling it all carefully looked back at him. "Did you want something too?"

Duo gave a low laugh and reached past her into the fridge to grab a few things to make himself a quick sandwich. "Yeah, this'll do me for now."

With a smile she started laying out everything she had grabbed. It was all stuff that could be eaten as is, so she started chowing down.

Duo went ahead and found the break to make his sandwich, watching out the corner of his eye as Najaran ate and seemed happier for it. Though he also knew that it probably wouldn't last. He just didn't know how to fix it... And that bothered him.

She didn't know how to fix it either, and it bothered her too. But food was good.
