Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage

They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.

Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.

Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.

If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.

The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.

They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.

It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

(OOC: Information on this event is here and part one is here)

Re: experimenting on increasingly improbable flavours is Feanor? XD

"Mm," Glorfindel said with a twinkle in his eye. "Spending time with the people you like best is definitely a bonus!"

"Most certainly!" She smiles at the memory. "We took our boys too, when they were older."

laurefindil: (Look over there!)

"Happy family memories are something to cherish," Glorfindel agreed. "Are you making any new ones here?"
marriedanidiot: (married)

"I am, yes." She smiles shyly. "I know Wisdom would be to refuse him, but... to have Feanaro back again..."

"Why would Wisdom say such a thing?" Glorfindel asked, surprised. "You have been given this time together. Perhaps...it is part of his Redemption Arc?" he said with a quirked smile and a twinkle in his eyes.

She blinks at him in surprise. "You are one of the few who would say that." She says slowly. "Do you know why they call me Nerdanel the Wise in Tirion? They say it is because I saw his heart and left him for the shadows there."

Which is partially true, but hardly the whole of their screaming argument that led to her storming away in one direction and him in another.

laurefindil: (Seriously)

"Do you still see those shadows now?" Glorfindel asked curiously. While he knew Feanor would always have that history, he wondered if the time spent in the Halls was helping him heal, or if he was pulled too soon for this strange adventure they were all on.

She is very quiet.

"I never saw them." She admits. "Not the way that others think I did. I only knew that the wild, passionate ner I married would never have spoken to me the way he did on that last day. I left because if I had stayed we would only have cut each other worse with our words, and I did not return because he never apologised. Are those shadows? Perhaps. If so, then I see them no more. The griefs in his soul now are very different. The Feanaro who holds me now is closer to the one who I wed than he has been in yeni"

"Not all shadows are literal," Glorfindel agreed. "Some are just the bruises on our mind and soul from doing something that you regret, but cannot find a way to undo them. He took...some drastic steps just before the exodus. Perhaps..." he thought about it for a moment. He didn't know Feanor well enough to say, but he knew enough Finweans to hazard a guess. "Perhaps he knew if he said those things to you, you would not follow him. He was taking your sons, but he could not bring you into such a life."

He smiled then. "I am so very glad! Though this is a strange place and we do not know how or why we came to be here, there is something of joy in it for you!"

She shrugs. "I don't know. Neither of us are ready to touch that wound, yet. He has tended his apologies, and promised me change... but we have yet to speak of that time."

She sighs. "Perhaps so. But he should not have said such things anyway."

She smiles again at that. "As am I."

"At least he apologized," Glorfindel said with a smile. "Hopefully eventually he will be ready to talk about it." It would definitely help with his healing, that Glorfindel knew.

"I am sorry you do not have more of your sons here, though." But only for her sake. He wasn't sure the Train could handle all seven. Even Middle Earth had seemed too small at times.

[personal profile] marriedanidiot 2020-06-12 06:01 am (UTC)(link)

"Are you sure the train could survive?" She lifts an amused eyebrow at him. "I love them dearly, but well familiar am I with their... mm, willful natures."

laurefindil: (Sideeye)

[personal profile] laurefindil 2020-06-13 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I...was actually doubting that same thing," Glorfindel confessed. "Middle Earth did not seem big enough at times, and that had a lot more space than this Train!"
marriedanidiot: (my boys)

[personal profile] marriedanidiot 2020-06-13 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
She peals with laughter.

"Ai! Well, there's truth enough in that. Finwe's kin are full of fire."
laurefindil: (Look over there!)

[personal profile] laurefindil 2020-06-20 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Speaking of fire, I think the pastries are done," Glorfindel said, checking the oven. "Yes, looks done. Here, stand back."

He pulled the trays from the oven, their warm, sweet, cheesy aromas filling the space. "Now comes the hard part. Waiting for them to cool enough to eat." He grinned at her as he transferred the pastries to the wire racks to help them cool.

She laughs. "At least we have no over-eager younglings to warn away from burning their fingers. Shall we enjoy a cup of tea in the meantime?"
