Who: Kaiba and OPEN
What: Council office hours, venting frustration, having feelings
When: Fiddlesticks 4, after Minako's post
Where: Various
Warnings: None at this time
Office Hours
As one of the new members of the Train Council, Kaiba has promised to make himself available to people. He's set out an anonymous suggestion box outside his room in Sleeper 3 (after fireproofing it, of course) and he's idly reading in the standard coach while he writes various notes. There will be a lot to cover when they get around to that meeting.
Feel free to approach him with official (or less official) business, ideas, and suggestions!
Sport Time
His frustrations about recent developments continue to bubble over, unfortunately for him. So he takes to the gym in his undershirt and cargo pants, aggressively kicking the ball at the wall as hard as he can. He'd prefer weightlifting for working up a sweat, but this will have to do for now. He's...pretty aggressive with that ball, darting after it over and over until he needs a break.

That guy certainly had a way of getting him to think about something. With a knock he turned his head and closed the notebook, putting it under his pillow for the time being and headed to the door.
Upon opening it and being face to face with the other subject of the conversation that had been talked about was not what he had been expecting.
"Kaiba... Uh... yeah I'm free right now at least and no one else is in here." He moved to walk back to his bed just so he could sit down. "I will hazard a guess what you need to talk about"
no subject
"He's been telling you the same things he told me, right?"
no subject
"He did. Maybe worded different, but... yeah. So that is why you are here, huh?"
no subject
Kaiba looked distinctly uncomfortable. It was an entirely new subject for him, and yet...he wasn't feeling repulsed by it. Just confused.
"I don't know if he's right. I've never been involved in what you might call 'normal teenage life', you know that. But I know I want to spend more time with you, and keep you safe. And stop you from doubting yourself, you're better than that."

But it had been enough to give the boy pause and to honestly think about the situation in a different way. To the other, he knew that he was comfortable around him, but Yugi in his mind put that down to the fact he was someone from his world. A sense of familiarity when things go wrong. But now he wondered if the meaning behind it had changed and he just hadn't noticed.
"I am aware of what your life was like. So I can imagine why what he said is probably more than a little confusing." He also partly put it down to Prompto being well... Prompto.
Yugi looked at his hands for a moment, trying to figure out the words he wanted to say next. He wasn't even sure why now of all things he was being nervous. "I know I have enjoyed the time we have spent together and even after this would like to and do my best to not doubt myself, which I am working on. I just hope, I guess you could rely on me to." He sighed slightly,. he felt stupid saying what he did. Did it sound wrong? Could he have wired it better?
Well it had been said now, not much else to do.

It was hard. Further out of his comfort zone than he'd ever dreamed of going. But he looked his rival in the eye, heard his wish...and something inside of him cracked.
"When I used to mock you and your friends for relying on each other, I thought standing alone made me stronger. That I had everything I needed. But any one of them would know what to do here, while I..."
He folded his hands over his knee.
"Gozaburo wanted to erase my humanity, to mold me into the perfect ruthless heir. I thought I was resisting him with my plans...but he succeeded. I became as much of a monster as he'd ever been, even to Mokuba. At least until the two of you crushed me with Exodia. When I was struggling to pull myself together, I remembered my love for Mokuba. But I couldn't forget how easily I'd been wounded when that feeling was exploited by our enemies."
He bowed his head. "I know by now that you wouldn't hurt me, Yugi. Not unless I was hurting someone else. But when I think about what I've done...what I'm capable of, what still haunts me at night, I wouldn't blame you for running. But the time I spend with you now...you make me want to keep walking this path. You make me want to be better."
He dared to look at Yugi again, a fragile hope on his face.

As he listened, he was remembering the way the other was at the beginning and the way he was now. To him, he knew Kaiba had made major steps in being a better person and he had seen that both at home and here.
When he was sure the other had finished, his first reaction was to smile. "I guess it really had to take someone to show you or...do what Atem did to help you find what really matters." Yugi was at least aware that the first step had been by the others' hand, rather than his own.
But he had been surprised at the fact the things he had done still haunt him. When he thought about it. It made sense. While not great at the same time he thinks he could understand it. With that, he moved to stand up. "You know I won't run, Kaiba," he said going to sit down next to him. "I've been through worse. Been through moments of not knowing what he did while he was in control and... you know some of the other stuff."
He couldn't help but laugh however, remembering exactly what he was like back then and how different he was in certain aspects now. "But... I'm glad you keep wanting to walk that path. I mean here you still have without me prompting you or anything. So while what you are capable of is still something you are worried about, you are at least thinking about your actions." Which was a good thing at least "And whatever happens I'll be here."

"It's hard to find the words," he admits. "There's so much I never thought I'd have to deal with. I feel almost...safe with you, and it's not just because you're familiar. Despite everything, you reach out and encourage...I've never been that kind of leader, just a mean boss."
He rakes a hand through his hair, then, after a moment of hesitation, reaches out to muss Yugi's. "I'll admit it now: ugh. You softened me up. And I don't hate it."
no subject
The smile that was still on his face was soon replaced with surprise at even having his hair ruffled in the first place before looking slightly annoyed, though it was more a playful pretend than genuine. But soon it was gone as quick at it came and back to a soft smile
"I'm glad at least. That you have." At that, he nudged him slightly, at least knowing to not try and do something the other might not like. "Means you get to figure out a lot of other things."
no subject
"Right. As far as the other things he said. That is a few levels ahead of my current understanding, but...I'm not ruling it out. That's all I know right now. Unless you have a better idea?"
no subject
"I do not have a better idea. You're talking to someone who also...is really bad at this stuff. But... I won't rule it out either." He looked down at his hands for a moment, a lot was going through his head, but he soon got his focus back. "I think we both need to think about a few things to know for certain, but... I at least know since we arrived, you've always been a comfort to me and honestly, I thought it was because we were from the same world in a place that isn't something we are use to." As he spoke he started to play with his fingers slightly.
"But now I wonder if the reason has changed in the short amount of time we've been together."
no subject
Kaiba looks exasperated with himself, but he sighs anyway.
"It doesn't need a label right now, does it?"
no subject
"So we should leave things like they are for now while we both do that and come back to this at a later date. Would that be okay?" He knew not to set a specific date because he was aware it might take some time.
