Who: Tidus and Yuna (
kabe)
What: Movies movies, everybody loves movies
When: Fiddlesticks 3
Where: place where movies be
Warnings: none
"You wanna check out the movie car? I wanna know if Spira has movies like them yet."
Tidus drops the invitation casually, like he hasn't been planning on making it since early that morning. The time now somewhere around noon, with the only real show of that being the lunch-goers they're leaving behind, the windows of the dining room car nothing more than a never-ending eerie black.
But there's no ulterior motives to the suggestion; none that Tidus could plan anyway, even if he wanted to. The train's movie library was extensive and unfamiliar, deciding on just one a pain, and the likelihood of them getting to pick one was less likely than going through the Thunder Plains unscathed.
It'll be something though, Tidus figures: either an unfamiliar experience for Yuna (Movie Spheres and films weren't exactly the same), or simply the pair of them enjoying some time together. Whether or not they enjoyed the movie too.
So he waits on her answer, opening up the way to the quiet coach, for either the walk to the cinema car or some different one along the way.

he was too shy to call her his girlfriend in front of a stranger. So with that thought in mind, it wasn't hard for Yuna to say yes to his invitation.
Although many were forced to wear the garments the train had provided them, Yuna came out strutting in her gunner dress-sphere, her weapons at the sides of her hips. She appeared to be calm, but her interest in being more out there and athletic, allowed her to match her energy to that of Tidus.
"You know things haven't changed that much in Spira.", she said, walking up to Tidus when she spotted him. She stood near him, keeping her arms crossed as she leaned against a chair.
"Is there anything good to snack on while we watch?"
no subject
Still. "You want to? Or we can come back this way after the movie. Less Reds crawling around the kitchen, or whoever's in there."
Since he already knew from the train's idea of a network that one person was interested to keep cooking, whether it was her team chore or not.
no subject
"Was there a specific one you wanted to watch, or did you want to explore them together?" Not that she was opposed to the idea, but knowing Tidus, she would be surprised if he hadn't gone through all of them already, trying to find the best one for them to enjoy.
no subject
"You're ready to jump in, huh?" Not that he minds. He enjoys it, that she's already asking questions. "I had a few in mind, but we've gotta see someone else didn't beat us already. You know? Back in Zanarkand, you didn't need to have one room for watching things. You could do it anywhere. That's what this train needs."
Happily talking away, Tidus takes a lead in walking them from the dining car and down the 'quiet' designated coach, onto their destination further along the stretch of joined cars. It was easy to be reminded of Zanarkand, in having all forms of entertainment at one's fingertips. Or, kinda.
"But I still wanna know about Spira too. You say it hasn't changed--well it didn't sound like it to me! Did you visit Luca again? How're the Aurochs doing?"
One question leads to another. Tidus can't help himself either.
no subject
"Well Spira hasn't physically changed, but the people have. We still have our good old blitzball, and well....they sure kicked our butts! The Gullwings actually had a match against them.", she said, following after him with ease. She wanted nothing more than to grab the hand that swayed at his side, however....
She was still unsure where they stood after their meeting with Lighting. Instead she opted to gasp, remembering something important she neglected to tell him.
"I did tell you Wakka is going to be a father right? Lulu and him are having a baby!"
no subject
That's worth a halt in their tracks, Tidus stopping and spinning around on his heels, eyes wide open and staring at Yuna. He had a question about the blitzball game, but now--
"Seriously? Lulu and Wakka?" He lets the question sit a beat, and then Tidus starts to laugh: astonished, amazed and pleased. Lulu and Wakka. Lulu and Wakka! "How much longer? Wakka must be freaking out!"
He laughs some more, imagining it--because he can imagine it so easily, Wakka pacing and worrying and Lulu being the sensible one.
"He hasn't had a heart attack, has he?"
no subject
"Wakka does seem worried about being a father, we actually helped him out a bit there. He tried finding a sphere with his parents on it, but that didn't pan out. He seems better now, and Lulu seems very happy."
no subject
It was mind blowing. Two years, and those two came together. Why not? But one moment they were on that airship, no signs of anything more than a strong friendship, and now Lulu and Wakka were about to have a kid together. Tidus soaked in the amazement of it, happy for them--really.
"I'm sure they'll be great," he says finally, smiling at Yuna, but really smiling over the pair. "Man... I'd really love to see Wakka's face though." Heheh. "He's got nothing to worry about, but he will anyway. They're both gonna be good parents."
Lulu might present as the sensible one, but that kid was going to be spoilt with love. Tidus shuffles on his feet to start walking again, though chuckles as he decides to ask before he does:
"What about the other two? Kimahri and Rikku? How're they doing?" Oh. "Are they seeing anyooone?"
Don't mind the dulcet sing-song tones of love in his voice.
no subject
"Kimahri, I just saw him a few weeks back actually. He's back to Mount Gagazet, I guess Besaid was too warm for him. He did become the elder however, of the remaining Ronso. He's taking his duties and responsibilities seriously and although he's had some trouble with the younger pups, he's trying his best to make a future for the Ronso. I really miss having him around, but he needs to live his life, right?", she said softly, her voice becoming more gentle. He had essentially raised her, even if he had been her age now back then. He was so mature and kind to Yuna, so it was hard to not have him around. It was hard not to have any of them near, but Yuna understood everyone had to move on.
With a soft smile, she caught up a little faster with Tidus and began to laugh. "Rikku is just on her own, but I think Kimahri might be seeing someone." She won't mention the fact that Brother seems to be a bit....into Yuna, but she does however eye Tidus' hand. Should she grab it? They're walking and talking like a couple and yet...
With a soft sigh, she reached for his hand, trying her best to intertwine her fingers with his. If he rejects it, she'll simply pull back and laugh it off with a nervous tone. If accepted, she'll continue on.

They pass through the quiet coach to the standard, Tidus listening Yuna move onto Kimahri, a smile never really leaving his face. It'd be nice to see them, but it's comforting to hear about them, knowing how fortunate he was to see Yuna, even, to be with her. But the hint of Kimahri in a relationship gets a "ohh?" out of Tidus, 'cause really, Kimahri?
Get in there, buddy.
But then there's a distraction, a knock of the hand that Tidus thinks is him swinging too hard and he doesn't realise it. Except he looks back, sees Yuna reaching out for him, the slip of her fingers by his...
It's awkward, like an action he wasn't mean to catch. But even as he turns his head back round, Tidus doesn't move his hand--instead, he lets her fingers into the spaces between his, giving them a light squeeze by curling them.
What about you? Has there ever been anyone...?
He kills the question from his tongue, no matter how close he is to asking it.
"So what kind of movie would you wanna see?" Tidus continues, giving no acknowledgement of the link between them now. "Something funny? With adventure? Mystery? There was one I was reading the other day that might be fun: about a treasure hunter who goes on the search for a legendary jewel and gets into trouble with rival treasure hunters as he races to grab it first!"

Sheepishly, she kept her face low, a small smile on her face. She wanted to do more than to just hold hands, but this was enough for her. It was enough to soothe any worries she may have had and enough to make her feel as if they weren't on a train, passing by people who may have given them an odd stare or two. They were in their own world.
"That movie sounds vaguely familiar....", she said, laughing softly. It was basically what she had done in previous missions, and although she loved doing that, she wasn't sure if she wanted to get a bad case of déjà vu. "Maybe something comedic? I'd love to be able to laugh...like old times."

They go, from one coach to the next. A long narrow gymnasium, currently in use (when wasn't it?) by bodies interested in training with the handmade dummies, and blades and all sorts.
"Can you believe it? They've got all sorts of balls here, but no blitzballs!" Not that he was even sure if people cared about the actual sports side of using the gym... "Wanna try learning one sometime? There's a ball you knock around with a, uhh..." His steps slow, free hand swinging and his head half-way turned. "Like a giant...wooden spoon kinda, but the middle's netting!"
Great description of tennis there.
no subject
"I tried asking around to see if anyone knew about it, but no one's ever heard of it. This man named Sam said it sounded like this thing called Soccer. Apparently you kick around the ball on grass, no hands allowed. Isn't that crazy?", she said, her eyes bright and wide as she explained her own sport.
"Wooden spoon huh? Maybe they make soup with it after playing hard?" Traditionally, and on an island like Besaid, this would make sense. Here? Who knows.
no subject
"Okay, it's not that much of a spoon," he explains, chuckling into his words. He has to stop and turn to face her, hand still in hers, and he didn't mean to get distracted, but with a quick look spotting him the cupboards he wants, Tidus cocks his head in direction with a quick "here", to get them to check them out.
"I bet one of those balls are in here," he says, referring back to the game this Sam guy shared. "Can you imagine trying to keep a blitzball on the ground? It'd fly off the second you kicked it too hard!"
At the back wall, Tidus pushes the button that slides the wall open, revealing all the different balls slotted away. The rackets are on the lower shelf with the smaller balls, and he slips one out as he lets go of her hand to take one, swinging it in place with a massive grin still on him.
"See? No good for soup." Not with the holes, and he makes a motion with it, like trying to scoop up soup. He then holds it out for her, to take and feel the weight of it for herself.
no subject
"What, are you trying to play a game of this soccer with me?", she managed to say in between the laughter, taking a look around at the stuff he was revealing to her. They were all so interesting and of various colors-
She quickly released his hand to reach for one of them, a small yellow ball with white lines through it. "This one is hairy! What the heck is this used for....", Yuna muttered before turning her attention towards Tidus.
She quickly reached out for the equipment he held out towards her, placing her own ball on it. "Maybe it can be used to strain rice or dry it! Or maybe..." Quickly, she lifted up the so called spoon, causing the ball on it to bounce at Tidus.
no subject
Tidus doesn't have a second to spare to question her, catching the ball as it jumps from Yuna to him. It's not the first time he's touched it, but the texture and size is still new, that he laughs some when it tickles his skin, nearly lets it roll from his grasp.
But he traps it between a palm and his chest, grinning as he slips it into his hand proper. Holding it, but with an eyebrow tilted as he eyes Yuna. There's something now far more important than sports...
"That's the right ball, I think." And that would be worth being impressed by, but instead, Tidus slips on a mischievous tone, waving the ball once. "Yuna... did you just swear?"
no subject
"Oh you mean heck? Rikku uses it a lot and I've heard others use it too....why is that word really bad?" She hated the thought of being rude but that wasn't such a horrible word...right?
With a deep blush grazing her face, she held her head low and fiddled around with the spoon until she finally rose her face up and reached for another ball. Soon she was tossing it at Tidus once more, repeating her previous actions.
"Take that!"
no subject
And he was having fun watching her squirm over that innocent--and honestly, funnily so--word...! That ball drops to the ground after hitting him, and Tidus straightens himself up in feigned offence.
"And what the heck was that?" he chides dramatically. "Is that any way for High Summoner Yuna to act?"
A second passes, and then another...
...
And Tidus chucks the ball he's been holding onto at Yuna's arm, bursting into a grin, grabbing for the other at his feet (just in case!) and bouncing a step back!
no subject
Dramatically, she grabbed her arm and made a small noise of pain. Clearly she wasn't that hurt when she found herself reaching for another ball of the same type and throwing it at Tidus.
The only problem was, Yuna's aim wasn't the best and it ended up falling right in front of him. "Oops I uh....didn't mean that!", she said, jokingly trying to advert any future throws from Tidus.
no subject
--...completely goof the attack. Both of them watching the pitiful failure, and Tidus looks at her with shame (if shame looks like a wide grin).
"What the hecking heck was that? Didn't Wakka teach you anything?" No, he's not ready to stop teasing her, but he is going to go over to her, armed in one hand while the other reaches for her tennis racket. "I think you need a timeout!"
my new favorite tidus icon
"No not a timeout! Surely I can repent for this?" With her face red from laughing and her grip on him tight, she moves forward to look up at Tidus.
"Is there anything I can do?"
it's very bedroom eyes-esque
And he bops her lightly above the chest with the racket. "You have to put all the balls away."
Even if it's nice to look at her right here, her arms on him, the touch of her palms on his skin. And she looks so nice that he isn't moving, isn't look away with that half-upturned smirk on his face.
so is this one *shifty eyes*
As she was about to pull away and begin cleaning up, she couldn't help but notice that smirk on his face. There was nothing more that she wanted than to lean in and press her lips against him. However she wasn't exactly sure where they stood, so instead she simply spoke up.
"Or was there something else I needed to do first?"
no subject
The creases of the smile soften, and he takes a step back, twisting the racket in his hand as he brings it down. Something bittersweet in the moment the look lasts.
"People don't usually look for a worse punishment, you know," he teases, but just a touch, and turning to put what's in his hands away. He could hand them to Yuna, he knows, and it'd be more suited to this silly exchange they're having, but all of the sudden, he's aware of the troubles he doesn't want to dump on her.
The troubles of a tennis game? Sure, that was it.
But it doesn't stop him from going on, once returning the racket to its hook. "How does doing my chores for a week sound? Or fetching me food whenever I ask."
no subject
"I think I'd rather do your chores for a week since I'd be doing mine anyways." Of course she was doing all her chores, with a skip and a smile to her movements. It would be easy to just do his on top of her own.
"But in return you have to learn how to play this game and teach me."
no subject
"So I get to sit and watch you do both our chores, huh?"
The only reason he did his chores was because it meant spending time with Yuna, with them being in the same team. He'd probably drop off without a reason like that to drive him through the tedium of tidying beds.
But he taps a forefinger against his chin at her offer.
"Hmm, wait. Is that how a punishment goes? Who's punishing who now?"
no subject
"You can think it over, let me finish cleaning up so we can continue?", she asked, looking around for any balls rolling about and anything else she may have misplaced.
no subject
After all: "You know I can't say no to you."
Amused, his arms have folded, but he lets them as he looks around behind him, to where the car door sits. The ICP screen too, and he turns back, pointing a thumb its way.
"Did you want to skip the movie and learn the game instead? We can watch a movie whenever. We can learn it together."
Sure, they just put a bunch of the balls back, but who cares? They could do whatever they wanted.
no subject
"Can't we do both? We can always learn how to play the game after the movie. Besides I'm excited to see what you have to show me."
no subject
If somebody already hasn't. But they've been messing around long enough, so Tidus finally heads to the door for them to move to the next carriage, passing through medical to the games. And unless Yuna has anything in particular to say, it takes that car for Tidus to pipe up, though not about what fun they can have in there someday.
"By the way, you spoken to Light? Since we met her."
You know, owner of a sword ready to be jabbed in his face...!
