Kaito had made an valiant attempt. He'd stayed with his team. He'd gotten dressed. He'd gotten into the water.

He'd done quite well.

Until he saw the first fish.

"AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Frankly, it's amazing that anyone in full scuba gear can move that fast out of the water, as he shoots past whoever was behind him, scrambles up out of the water past anyone who hasn't gotten in yet, and burrows into the furtherest corner, gibbering.

"F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fish!"

Save him from Nemo.

"Look after him," is all Eva says, trusting her Princess to do just that while she heads down down with Orange.

And it's exactly what the clefairy does: goes and plants himself in front of Kaito. No fish will hurt this human!

That you know, he's sort of maybe half sitting on Kaito is ignored.

Kaito accepts the lapful of clefairy by curling around him and shivering. Please protect him!!

Though, first step is a thrum-purr to calm his second fav human down.

Clinging to clefairy fur and listening to the purr, he slowly starts to relax.

Once Kaito's relaxed enough, Princess squirms out and starts to nudge him.

Time to find a better safer spot, human. Like maybe the kitchen because food.

Reigen wasn't crazy about the whole underwater expedition, felt really risky, but hey, it was all a matter of perspective. Think of it like going to Hawaii and scuba diving! Nothing bad could--

However, hearing Kaito shriek and dash out of the water, he completely ignores psyching himself up to dive in in favor of finding out what the heck spooked Kaito so bad.

"Oi, Kaito-kun, you alright?? Fish?! What kind of fish?" Could there be some kind of weird man-eating fish down there? Is that what spooked him?

All Reigen gets is frantic gesturing and gibbering.

(There's nothing down there but a tiny solitary little fish, calmly swimming by)

Reigen looks at the little fish. Honestly, it's kind of cute, but clearly not the threat Reigen was fearing.

"...oh. Kaito-kun, I don't think that fish is gonna hurt you. It's probably more afraid of you than you are of it."

Not that Reigen's judging. Even though bugs are way scarier than fish.

Reigen said That Word, and Kaito does a full body flinch, burying his head in his hands.

Conan nearly gets bowled over as Kaito suddenly erupted from the water. He sighs and walks over to Kaito's corner.

"Maybe you should take care of things up here."

A miserable nod is his answer.

HE TRIED OKAY.

Have a very awkward pat on the shoulder. This was not a side of his rival he was used to seeing.

Kaito flaps a hand at him as he tries to regulate his breathing. He'll be fine. Promise.

Okay so, Peter definitely wasn't expecting that. He looks up from where he's just sitting with his feet in the water because right now he's just enjoying the cool ocean. He hops up gets ready to fight if he has to but there doesn't seem to be any danger. His spideysense isn't even picking up the fish he knows are swimming beneath.

"Uh... Kaito? You okay, buddy?" He asks, moving over to the other teen. "You can just stay up here."

"F-f--f-f-f-f-f-f-f-finny things." He whimpers from the corner

In normal circumstances, Aoko would probably just laugh because Kaito's absolutely ridiculous and so is his stupid phobia. Instead she just sighs and moves off to follow him. She doesn't kneel next to him or anything but she stands nearby with her arms crossed.

"Why did you even go in the ocean?" She asks, knowing that he's smart enough to at least know there would be fish involved. "Now you got yourself all worked up and Aoko has no real choice but sit here with you." No one is forcing her to stay but if anyone calls her on it, she'll deny it. He's still her best friend after all and he seemed really freaked. Now's not really the time to make fun of him for it.

Maybe later though.

He's curled in a ball but he manages to deal her a doleful look as the panic starts to settle.

"'sposed to... help out."

Dairine had just gotten into the water when suddenly someone comes shooting out of it. She's briefly alarmed, on high alert with wizardry partially blocked off. However, looking around underwater, she sees no big threat.

Annoyed by the false alarm, she pops her head out of the water and glares.

"Dude, what's the big deal?"

Sadly for Dairine, Kaito is in the middle of a full blown panic attack, and he isn't particular coherent, curled into a trembling ball as far away from the door as he can get.

"F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fish"

Dairine narrows her eyes.

Unfortunately for Kaito, he's far enough away and mumbling incoherently enough that she doesn't catch that he's properly spooked. So in her annoyance, Dairine assumes he's just being immature as usual.

Two can play that game.

With a silent word, suddenly a bucket's worth of seawater falls on Kaito's head. No fish, lucky him, but it should give him a bit of a jolt.

He yelps in shock, but it does break the panic cycle just a bit. Just enough to make him sit up and pay a bit more attention than gibbering in the corner.

"WHA!?!"

Curufin is treading water, checking out his scuba gear and literally testing the waters. But before he can collect himself to dive under, he hears a horrible screech. And suddenly Kaito rockets out of the water and runs for the train.

Uh-oh, trouble!

Curufin exits the water as well and runs after him. "What happened, Kaito! Did something bite you?"

Kaito's curled into a tight ball, gibbering in fear. He's... not making a lot of sense.

"F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fish"

"What do you mean, fish? You mean you saw a shark or something?"

Being Curufin, he wants to sort this out. Kaito is a good friend of his, and it's hard to see him so terrified.

Kaito whimpers at that word, curling even tighter.
