Who: Gladio and OPEN
What: Gladio cooks. ^^ Come by and eat his food, it's not half bad!
Where: Kitchen, mainly.
When: Fiddlesticks day 8. Afternoonish.

While he may not have been a fancy cook or professional in any way, Gladio wasn't a slouch in the kitchen. He knew his way around and he could rustle something up in a pinch if he needed to. So that's how he ended up in the kitchen with Noct teaching him how to make a simple spaghetti and sauce meal. Though he did go a little adventurous and make meatballs for it as well.

It was strange to make something for so many people though. He normally had a hard time gauging amounts and would often make too much of a thing. Now they were deliberately doing that to make sure that everyone on the train had a chance to eat (and seconds, if they wanted!)

With the train rocking as it was, once the HUGE pan of spaghetti was made, Gladio kept it in the kitchen where it was safe. He had bowls ready. When the guys got hungry, he would be ready.

In the meantime... he decided to make cupcakes as well.

Gladio grinned. It was kind of strange. Noct wanted him to show him how to cook and now Quatre. He'd never taught to cook before. How to use a sword? He was great at that. But this was new and kind of exciting if he was honest.

"No problem, kid. Anything you'd like to learn to make?" He might have to look it up himself, but he was sure it was something they would work out between them.

Quatre thought about that for a long moment after he was asked what he wanted to learn. There were so many options. Finally, he decided on something simple.

"Perhaps a rice dish? We could use whatever the ingredient of the month is to decide what we should make when we decide to do this."

Gladio waited patiently, it was a big ask, he knew. There were a lot of foods to pick through, and a lot of new worlds to broaden those options even further.

Once Quatre decided, Gladio grinned and nodded. "Sounds good to me. We can can work something out, no doubts about that. Pretty sure we'll be getting a lot of seafood after this mission."

"Sounds good. If we do get something with seafood, that could be very good. I know back home, there are plenty of dishest that us that combination. I just can't use any pork in the dish if I am going to eat it."

Gladio nodded along with what Quatre was saying and smiled his reassurance. "No pork, got it. I'm sure we can think of something with the sea food the others bring back."

"Great. I would appreciate it. It'll be fun. I'm sure my friends would be surprised to find out I can cook."

"We'll keep it a secret." Gladio said with a wink. "We'll learn something amazing you can show your friends. They'll never know." Unless Quatre told them of course, but that was up to him entirely. Gladio was just going to help him out. Arm him up so he could go out in the world and wow his friends.

"Perfect. It would be nice to show that I can cook at least one thing." Quatre was going to keep that a secret. Both of his friends knew the background he came from, knew that he didn't have to worry about such things as making his own food. Heck, he hadn't even really needed to worry about it even when he had been fighting as a Gundam pilot. So it should hopefully surprise them when he made an honest to goodness meal for them.

"They won't see it coming."

"Maybe I'll even show you how to make a quick dessert." Gladio mused, almost to himself, trying to think of something quick and simple that Quatre could do. Sweet things and desserts were what he was better at, it was what he'd tended to cook more with his little sister. Actual meals he only new a few of, but enjoyed expanding on that knowledge now he had the time to do so.

"We'll have you impress them." Gladio grinned, warming to this idea. He wanted Quatre to be able to impress his friends with something unexpected. And if he could help with that, even better.

"Really? That would be great! Thank you. I know they wouldn't expect me to be able to make an entire meal. At least one that is not very basic." He was sure if he had asked when he was younger, someone would have taught him to cook. Now that he owned the company, there was never any time for it.

"Wonderful. I know they'd be impressed."

Gladio thought about it some, smiling at Quatre's enthusiasm. He might have to look through the cook books to check on a recipe, but a simple seafood paella seemed like a good idea. It was rice dish and tasty as hell, the times he'd had it. If they could make it well enough he was sure Quatre would be able to duplicate it.

"Don't worry, kid." Gladio grinned. "I've got your back."

"I appreciate it. Is there a dish that you normally like to make? If you could make anything."

Here it was a little weird. They didn't have all the ingredients a supermarket would... but they had a lot of different types of bacon...

"I'm a steak and potatoes kinda guy, Quatre." Gladio chuckled, smiling at the young blonde. "Fancy isn't usually my style. But I know a few things and we've lots of cook books we can look through to brush up on some ideas."

"I was thinking, since you wanted a rice dish, and we'll be getting seafood, maybe a seafood paella? They're generally quick and simple to make." He'd watched Ignis make them before, he'd loved to watching him cook.

"That is good too. I do like a good steak now and again. One of my sisters used to make the best potato dish when I was younger. I sometimes consider it was a shame I was so much younger than them. I might have understood how to cook more."

"I think that would be wonderful! I like that idea."

"Well, we're being fancy to impress your friends. But next time? We'll rustle up a good steak dinner!" Might have to order them, but it'd be worth it. Gladio wasn't above spending hard earned points on some grade A steaks to enjoy. It had been a while since he had, after all. The pork just wasn't good enough.

"Sounds good. If we don't get that as an option one of these months, I think we can order them if I understood the shop correctly." Quatre certainly wasn't opposed to ordering things that he wanted either. If that's what they were there for, why not use them as such.

"You got that right." Gladio nodded cheerfully. He had plans to get a few things from the store later, though none of those things were steak he supposed. Maybe next time, if they didn't give them an option for it next time around of course.

"So..." He smiled. "I should probably get cleaned up here. But if you want any more of the spaghetti to go, take as much as you need!"

"Oh of course. I don't want to keep you from it. I'll just take a bit more. Thank you again."

For both the food and the offer to help him cook.

"No problem, kiddo!" Gladio gave him a warm, friendly grin before he started to gather up some things for cleaning and moved them to the sink.

Quatre was a good kid. He was looking forward to teaching him a thing or two to wow his friends!
