Who: Xue Yang and Anyone
Where: Kitchen
When: Fiddlesticks Day 17
What: Attempting at cooking? Yeah that is it...Feel free to stumble upon his attempts.
Warnings: It's Xue Yang..so there could be talk or actual violence
Xue Yang has some business to take care of in the kitchen. He doesn't know how to cook and he doesn't particularly care if what he is cooking actually turns out. He has made sure to pick a time when it would be quiet, before anyone wants to begin working on anything for breakfast. He had some activities last night that now require the destruction of anything that might tie him to that activity.
The item in question is already laid out in the bottom of the oven, the temperature set at 425 degrees because that just seemed like a decent place to set it. And to make sure things don't seem suspicious in the least, a pan full of uncooked bacon has also been set in the oven. He doesn't know if that's how you actually cook bacon but at least the smell of that cooking might mask the scent of something else burning.
He rummages around until he finds something that he can snack on while he waits for a certain item to no long exist. As he is doing that he notices the smoke that is escaping from around the edges of the oven door. That's either a good sign..or a bad sign. And he's not too worried so he's not going to open that oven until he is sure that the item inside is certainly nothing but ash. At least the room is smelling like bacon so part of the plan is working.
He finds some carrot sticks and munches on them as he waits.

The vinegar-water is indeed, slowly inhibiting even the smell of burning bacon. It's going to take a little bit, and leaves a faint sour scent in the air, but that's better than burning blood, fabric and meat.
Xue Yang didn't strike him as the sort of person who'd know, or perhaps care, that there are alternate methods. "And just like contending with them, I don't much care why you're burning things. It's not my business. Just be aware there's going to be questions and very curious people if you try this method again. The train is small, and rumors spread fast." If that's not his goal, anyway! Maybe the entire point is to spread rumors!
Apparently what he does care about is beginning another pot of stew, by the struggle with a pot that begins next. All those potatos are for something!

He doesn't really care about rumors, nor does he care what others might think. "Do you intend the fuel the rumors with what you've seen? Or will you have the same secrecy as with your coworkers?"
no subject
Which .. is something other people can deal with. He has soup to make. Speaking of. "If you prove as worthy of such respect as my coworkers of the past, then yes." He points with a ladle, towards the still smoking but far less smelly oven. "But respect is earned, as I'm sure you won't be handing me any such regard without it being earned. Why don't you get a knife. Our team, such as it is, is on 'feed the masses' duty, and performing as asked gets nebulous petty little rewards you might wish to take advantage of in the future."
It'll provide Xue Yang something to do besides smoke out an entire train car.

"Cutting things appears to be my only useful quality in this room." Last time he attempted to cook as per his duties he basically cut vegetables and called it a day. He figures this time will go much the same way.
"So what is it that needs cutting?"

And then the other-red member can get himself some bonus points with the train. It's not altruism really, just a way to kill time.
But cutting veggies is also easy enough, and Fandaniel has no issue directing him to some potatos in need of dicing. He's got some himself that need chopping. "Anything there. Potatos. The yellow things. Those other greenish things." They have names, but he's not precisely sure what those are. "If any of that bacon is still salvageable, that can be thrown in too."

"And what are these simple edible things that you know how to make? I'm used to eating fairly simple meals anyway." He lived on a rice and vegetable diet for most of his life.
no subject
Which is exactly what he's doing right now, in fact. "Rice in a pot, baked popotos in various forms.. Most mortals can live quite well on a diet of popoto and dairy alone, even if it's boring, so if you know your way around those you can keep yourself and others alive easily enough." Though Fandaniel isn't entirely sure that's ever going to be a goal for himself .. and maybe Xue Yang as well, who knows, it's always good to have something onhand.
What is probably an unhealthy amount of salt and pepper is tossed in. "I'll ... aid you ... in cleaning the ashes out of the oven later. Should you wish it."
That last offer is so utterly grudging that chances are AMAZING the blue haired man would be relieved if the answer was 'no'. But it's polite to offer; they are on the same nominal team after all.

"I think it would be better if I take care of that part of things myself." Less witnesses to wear those ashes end up. The fewer the people who have any knowledge of what he may or may not have done, the better. Not that he is particularly worried about being caught or punished. He's been tortured, locked away, beaten, and hunted and he still manages to still be standing. He'd be able to handle whatever the train decided to throw at him.

Fandaniel certainly never sticks around, as boring as the entire train can get, kitchens were monotonous. "..As you'd like. Don't throw it down the drain, whatever you should choose. It will likely clog." And then all the questions to be had!
Somehow he suspects it would be pinned on him for not making sure his own teammate didn't do something silly. Wasn't that the point of these teams? Self-policing? Well he's having none of that.

"Then I suppose I can add that to the possible things I could do if I feel so inclined." Chances are he won't feel too inclined at least in the near future but it is good to remember that some cooking isn't terribly complicated.
He is at least working on those vegetables that he agreed to cut up.
