Honey Cakes
Who: Little One (Buttercup) and you!
Where: Standard coach
When: Day 16, evening
What: Little One has bought honey cakes and baklava with her points. She is willing to share.
Warnings:
It had been a busy day. Once again they had a whole group of new people and other people had left. Including Waver, her roommate. She had a new roommate now but hasn't spoken much to him. She had stayed out the way mostly, watching the new people and getting an idea of them.
But the most exciting thing of yesterday had been that her parcels had arrived. Honey cakes, baklava and a jar of Gauigen honey. She had already eaten some of the cakes, obviously but the main reason for her buying them hadn't just being to eat them but to let people know about how superior Gauigen honey cakes were.
People had made her honey cakes on the train and those were appreciated. They were delicious, but they were not these honey cakes.
She had gotten baklava as well, the adults she had known at home preferred that to honey cakes and though she strongly disagreed with that opinion, baklava was delicious in it's own right.
She sat on one of the tables in the standard coach, crossed legged with bare feet, leaning against the window. She had two plates in front of her, one piled with small roughly cut cakes, the other with an array of honey cakes.
People get a grin. "You can be having one if you do be wanting."
She's also eating them, of course. They were her cakes after all.

At the moment, he was just exploring. There were a fair bit of train cars, after all, and he had to get a vibe for the place. Feel it out. Get himself adjusted. He was passing through the standard coach when he paused, seeing a little girl with a lot of food. Either the tiny girl had a massive appetite (which wasn't out of the question), or she was sharing.
Sure enough, when she spoke up with a grin, she was sharing. He gave her an immediate smile in return. "Hey, I can? Thanks!" Something in him struck a tiny bit of a sad chord that this little girl seemed to be here alone, or so it seemed, and he had to wonder if she was snatched away from her family to be here. He would've been terrified, had that happened to him at that age...hell, it almost did, thanks to--nn. Now wasn't the time to think on that.
At any rate, his big bro instincts were kicking in.
"Y'mind if I join ya for a little? May as well relax if I'm gonna have one of these. They look great!" He took a seat nearby, taking one of the honey cakes and taking a bite. Yep! Definitely good stuff! "This a special occasion? Issit your birthday, little miss?"

She didn't mind the boy sitting down with her. He was new and she tried to get to know the new people as best as she could. It was important to at least keep track of who everyone was.
And everyone liked food. It was a good way to get to know people, giving people food made them trust you more. At least it seemed that way. Tony always gave her food to try and win her over before asking difficult questions, being nosy or giving her orders.
"They do be being from my city."

Mmm. Food from home. Note to self: get oden bowl whenever you feel too lonely. It won't taste exactly like Chibita's, but it'll be good enough.
"Where is that, anyway?" He asked, before taking another bite of the cake he'd taken. "I should visit someday if it's real nice."

Even food bought with points was pretty good. She had no idea how they got points but she had a lot, so could buy a lot of honey cakes. If he was new he only had three and couldn't buy honey cakes. But he could buy sweets so that was alright.
"It do be being a city called Gauig. In a country called Gauig. Did you be hearing of it? It do be being the best city and it do be having the best honey in the whole world."

"Oh! Uh, by the way. My name's Osomatsu. Nice to meet you. What's your name, little miss?"
no subject
Important things, she knows chocolate so she can already guess they will be sweet.
"It do be being nice to be meeting you Osomatsu, you can be calling me Buttercup if you do be wanting to."
no subject
"A chocolate cornet is like...it's a sweet bun. It's filled with chocolate, and it's open on both ends so if you want, you can like, suck it out. My little brothers and I used to like, talk about what was the 'right end' whenever we had one, but we never got to an answer." The Matsuno faction battle of 'the small end is the right end' (himself, Jyushi, and Totty) against 'the big end is the right end' (Kara, Choro, and Ichi) would never cease.
"Buttercup. That's a cute name! Okay. Got it memorized~" That's like a flower, if he remembers correctly. Cute!

"They do be being from Gauig and they will be being the best thing you did ever be tasting. I do be promising."

She's not sure she could make either. The honey cakes Ingio and Tony made were close but not the same and she didn't have the first idea with baklava.
It was the second plate she offered up, baklava was more an adult sweet.

"What are they called?" She accepts a baklava.
no subject
Baklava was nice too, but not as great as the cakes that were, honestly, more honey than actual cake.
no subject
"Honey cakes?" She tips her head. "I wonder how similar they are to our recipes? I should make some and find out."

"Are you wanting to try them, my dear? I suppose I could - it has been a while... do you want to help me?"

Glancing up at Buttercup's voice, she looked briefly surprised, before finishing putting the books away and heading over.
"Thanks," she said, picking one of the honey cakes and taking a seat.
"Nice of you to share, for sure. Did you get them from home, then?"
She had noticed the extremely long list of names for people ordering packages this morning. Even if Little One wasn't listed as Buttercup, it wasn't all that hard to surmise.
no subject
"Yes I did be buying them with my points." She explained with a nod. "They do be being the best cake in all the worlds so I did be thinking you should be tasting them."
no subject
"It was worth it! These really are quite good."
Today seemed to be a pastry day; first Glorfindel's, now these.
"How often did you get them back home?"
They were most likely a rare treat, Nita thought.
no subject
"Only when I did be being very good." She grinned, they had been treats when she had completed missions or done something exceptional.
Stalls that sold honey cakes were very well guarded after all and nigh impossible to steal from. It might be easier for adults to do so, but a little girl in a honey cake shop was watched very closely indeed.

She then had to fight the desire not to just reach for another. She sighed, then grinned ruefully at herself.
"Better than 3 Musketeers bars, but boy these are as addictive...!"
no subject
Not that she'd ever had an entire box of honey cakes before today, it is taking a lot of patience not to do just that.
"What do a Muskateer bar be being?"
no subject
Once that moment of accord ended, she focused on Buttercup's actual question.
"It's a kind of chocolate bar - more candy than chocolate, but the outside is sweet chocolate, not bitter, with more whipped chocolate on the inside. I wouldn't look at the ingredients list, though!"
Too depressing, especially when it's supposed to be chocolate!

"That's awfully generous of you to share your treats. Are these the honey cakes you've talked about?"
no subject
"They do be being. This do be being honey cake and this do be being baklava. I do be thinking baklava do be being more for adults but you can be liking honey cakes too."
