Error 4639

[voidtreckermods]

Day Twenty Two starts as any other day onboard the Voidtrecker Express. The morning announcement and then passengers are free to fall back to sleep or get up and start the day. Breakfast is made. However not so long after the wake up call anyone near an ICP point will see it flash bright white.

A moment later there is a message. It shows on the screens for fifteen minutes and indeed anyone trying to use the ICPs for anything else will have trouble as it seems determined to be all that they can access. Then the screen goes white again. Bold text flashes up.

Error code 4639. Program must end.

The screen goes black and stays black. Every ICP on the train is down. That is not all. When passengers try and speak to each other they will learn that whatever it was that allowed them to understand each other has stopped working.

Hopefully that won't cause too much mayhem...

"You can't be her.. shinki if the two of you are apart?"

She's still drawing as she says it, but at least it does seem like she's paying close attention to what he's saying all the same.

"It's tricky..." He sighed. "In the heavens if a god disappears then so does their temple and the name goes from their shinki, so they don't got a god anymore. But when me and Joss came here, Elfnein wasn't here, not for a little while. And I was still a shinki, I had my name and everything. But Joss didn't have his and he got all his memories back like he wasn't a shinki at all!"

It was all very confusing.

That is confusing. Even though Madoka may not understand the whole shinki business, she can at least grasp from Romeo's explanation that there are supposed to be rules in play here that seem to count for one person from that place, yet not for another..

"Can you maybe think about something that's different between you and Joss, even before you came here..? Maybe that's what made things work out so differently for you here."

[myblueskies]

"Um..." He frowned as he thought, "Well he was a vampire. He's not any more..." Which he didn't like thinking about, because Joss dying had been a terrible, horrible thing.

He punched the air, to keep his spirits up. "So maybe that was it."

Maybe vampires had better memories. Joss was very smart after all.

Poor Romeo.. Madoka knows what it means too when he punches the air like that, so she's quick to make sure to not mention anything about Joss' change and the reason for it. She really doesn't want Romeo to have to think about that more than he already is doing now!

Instead she slowly nods.

"That might be it.. After all, vampires and humans are pretty different, aren't they?" Not even in a bad way! Madoka is so fond of Maru, after all. But she also knows there's a lot of differences between him and her. "Vampires have all sorts of special powers, so maybe it made him able to remember the things you can't remember."

"They are! So that might be it. He has lots and lots of years so I guess he had lots of memories. Maybe they all got too much to be able to be held back!"

That might be it. But really he has no idea.

"It does sound like it'd make sense.."

She nods, turning back to her paper to draw a few last lines and finish the whole thing up.

"There..! I think these are all the vegetables I can think of.. and a whole bunch of different food too! Do you think it might be for the best if we leave these in the kitchen so people who need them can find and use them there?"

"That's a good idea! Then no one will have to eat food they don't like!"

Madoka has drawn some great pictures! He is sure they will help everyone, because who knows how long the speaking magic might be broken for!

"Let's go put them in the kitchen so everyone can find them!"

Romeo truly is the most supportive of friends! Especially since this really helps Madoka feel like she's been able to do something useful in the middle of this situation.. And there's nothing that manages to crank her mood back up quite like being useful does.

So she smiles.

"Okay. Let's go." She already stands up, ready to get moving. "It's all thanks to you too though, Romeo. You were so smart to think of this idea in the first place! I guess we make a good team, huh?"

"We make a really good team! Your drawings are going to help everyone!"

He grinned at her, she was very good at drawing, her pictures looked exactly like what they were meant to! It was like magic!

He skipped along to the kitchen, grinning at her again.
