[Closed] Elf-mum hugs are the best.
Who: Eva and Nerdanel
When: Shortly after this.
Where: Sleeper 3C
What: Eva needs elf-mum hugs. She also admits to being a criminal back home.
Warnings: Frank talk of thievery/criminal activity/Laws in Eva's world?
[Even with a mug of hot chocolate in hand, and Princess by her side, Eva still curls up on her bunk, still far to shaken and rattled by the video she'd witnessed, by the fact they had a vigilante on the train who apparently thought nothing of punishing criminals and then displaying it for all to see.
Yes, it was a murderer, but that meant nothing to Eva. Not when she'd done her best to keep her own crimes from everyone. No one needed to know one of the Council and Orange Leaders was a thief; Finders Keepers with the masterball was still theft. Could even be seen as worse, given she never told anyone-.
More than that, though. She was a traitor to humanity because she protected a sapient pokemon instead of turning it in to be destroyed. Never mind she knew Fluffy was dangerous and a murderer in her own right-
If Atem- No. If anyone found out...]
Gods... What a mess.

Oh, pitya-nin....

If that thing finds out what I've done...
[She's Afraid.] I'm not a good person.
[She's not. Not at all, even though Princess huffs as if to disagree. She's a thief and a traitor and accessory to murders-] I'm far from a good person.
[But she is a good person, because at the end of the day, she does what's right, even if it's hard or she's afraid.]

You are. [ Nerdanel's arms around her are strong and solid, her hands calloused from work, her voice ringing in the quiet of the cabin with finality (and perhaps, with the sheen of something else to it, a push at the world to say This Is How It Is, and How It Is is How It Should Be. Her sons and husband are not the only ones who can use Words of Power) ]
If you were not, you would not care so. Did you not save that child from those who sought only to use them? Do you not, even now, fight to protect them? Have you not, again and again, on this train where you were taken unwilling, fight to defend those less fortunate than you? Oh Eva! Bright one, my dear, you are so much better than you know.

[The masterball burns bright in her mind, as does the memory of finding it, stashing it at the bottom of her bag because she could. Because she knew it was important and she wanted it.] I've turned a blind eye to minors doing it here.
[Kaito. Nita. Damn if she doesn't feel guilty for encouraging sticky fingers when she should have been doing the deed, not minors.] That's not what a good person does. You can care deeply and still be a criminal and I hate criminals.

So did my sons and my husband. And murdered on top of that. If you want to talk about sins, best beloved, believe you me, the House of Feanor has far too many to its account.
When you acted, did you not act always to protect? That is more than any of my sons or husband can say.

Even so, I'm still not a good person. I don't always protect when I should and I pick the worst things to protect, even if it's what right. A good person would have given the masterball back. A good person wouldn't own a sapient even if it's for protection. A good person wouldn't turn a blind eye to murder. A good person'd be so many more things I'm not. I break morals because I do what I think is right. How is that good?

A good person sees what others call monster and weapon, and sees instead a child in desperate need, lashing out in pain and fear. A good person sees a child who has no knowledge of what is wrong or right, only pain, and walks into dangers path to hold in trust a power too great. A good person does the best they can, in circumstances untenable. Pitya-nin, you broke laws, yes, but you kept the greatest of them all - to care for another.

[Which isn't a bad thing.] Maybe. Or maybe I've never been one to know when to quit or turn away from something just because it's harder or dangerous.
Though that doesn't make me a good person. I stole the masterball not to protect but because I wanted it. I knew what it was, how important it was and I still stole it because I could. And then then I lied about it, not just once, but several times. My family doesn't know the truth and my world can't know the truth-

[ She brushes a hand through her hair. ]
Did you need that masterball?
/late ;_;
[If she was a cat, she'd purr. Though, Princess seems to do that for her???]
At the time, no. In the end... yes. It saved my life. But that doesn't excuse the fact I stole it.
no subject
[ Nerdanel is happy to keep doing that then! ]
And if you had left it where it was, would it have been used well?
no subject
[She hopes he does, one day.
She shakes her head.] I don't know. Sylph Co. are known for many, many things including the manufacture of monsterballs. But I do know the Rocket Boss wanted the 'ball for some reason... so.
[... It would likely have ended up in Giovanni's hands, and that is honestly a terrifying thought.]
no subject
[ She hums softly ]
I still cannot see it as a bad thing. Something that could have been used for ill, that was craved by those who would have used it for ill? Such a thing is better removed from the board.
[ coughoneringcough ]
late :(
[It's admitted with reluctance.] But... Just because it worked out for the best in the end doesn't excuse a theft like this. It can't.
/patpatpat
[ NOT LIKE SHE'S THINKING OF ANYONE IN PARTICULAR MAGLOR ]
no subject
I just... [A sigh as she runs a hand through her hair.] I think everyone's out of sorts.
[And the theft isn't the only topic on her mind, but she... can't bring that up. The last thing Nerdanel needs is a Traitor for an adopted daughter.]
no subject
Well. Her entire family are, to one degree or another, kinslayers and murderers, traitors, oathbreakers and oathkeepers, kidnappers......... Eva will have to do a whole lot better than 'traitor' to shake the mother of Feanor's notorious sons ]
Probably. [ She hums ] But it's alright to... well. Not be alright, you know.
no subject
[A sigh as she leans against the elf.] I think everything's slowly getting to me even though I know we will sort this out. Somehow.
But, I'm glad your here, you know?
no subject
I am glad you are here too! And yes, I think we will.
do we want to wrap?
[Somehow, but she can't think about that now. Is it running away? yes. Or maybe it's a tactical retreat to gather her frayed emotions.] Thanks.
probably a good spot
You're welcome.
Wrap!
