A New Platform [Intro Post July]
On the Train
Luckily for everyone the final couple of days of Fiddlesticks are quiet and mostly uneventful. Eventually though they awake to the announcement. "Good morning passengers, it is day one of the month of Grasshopper. Points have been updated on the system."
They have indeed and everyone can spend the morning shopping. Those who have been on the train a while will be expecting the second announcement that comes a few hours later.
"Shortly arriving into a designated void platform. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." A lurch and a jolt and they are soon surrounded by the fog that means they are at a platform. Also a loud pattering sound, which they will discover once the doors open are hailstones. They might want to grab their raincoats.
As usual the first to leave the train notice nothing as they walk silently, rucksacks on their backs, towards the barriers. Ann Takamaki, Drizzt, Geralt, Huehuecóyotl, Ignis Scientia, Ivy Wakefield, Jiang Yanli, Lan Sizhui, Maebhrin Tillinath, May Parker, Nie Huaisang, Osomatsu Matsuno, Raven, Roxas, Shaw, The Iron Bull, Ultimo, Wei Wuxian, Yuki Sohma, Yuffie, Yukito Tsukishiro
But on the platform itself there are many new faces. Wearing hoodies and waterproofs, in various states of confusion.
For New Passengers
At first all they can see is steam. Billowing around them as they come to their senses. The second thing they will notice is it is cold, hailstones rain down around them, though they don’t last long on the platform ground, melting into slush.
They are standing, in clothes that are not their own, styles they might not even recognise. They are carrying a rucksack on their back. For a moment it seems to just be them, alone in the white haze but then the steam begins to fade and they realise they aren’t alone.
The platform is not large and it holds nineteen figures all facing the tracks, all dressed in cargo trousers and hoodies. Both left and right the tracks disappear into the mist. Then there is a roaring sound and out of the fog arrives a train. Jet black with gold writing on the side. The Voidtrecker Express. There is a hiss as the doors slide open and out into the cold step a selection of people. Some are human, some are less so. Most are wearing the same hoodie in one of the four colours, red, orange, blue and purple though some are sporting different clothes in a variety of styles.
The Train
The doors hiss open. Those from the train may encourage those on the platform to board. It’s not like there is anywhere else to go and even if there was, you feel a pull. A need to board, a feeling that staying on the platform would not be a good thing. If that is not enough, there are plenty of people on the platform now, to encourage them onto the train.
Indeed whereas usually there is plenty time for people to be met and brought slowly onto the train, the whistles blow a lot quicker this time, as if hurrying the passengers along.
Each ICP shows the same message and next to the screens there are stacks of leaflets written by those on the train, with further information. The store rooms have been restocked, it seems carrots have taken over the bacon, though there are plenty of other staples.
Those from blue team who go to investigate will find a box of biscuits. There is enough for the whole team, including new passengers. Join in your team's success!
Those who are not new will quickly discover some changes made to make the train accessible to those who can’t see, including Braille translations of all the signs around the train.
There is of course the new music room to explore. A double carriage, the downstairs has instruments to learn and practice with, as well as a series of music screen points. Those who play around with the screens will soon discover their SCA’s can now store music and can choose their favourites to listen to around the train.
Upstairs is a performance area and holds a piano.
New passengers will find their tickets allow them into their cabins. They may need to negotiate for beds, especially if they want a top bunk!
Room is tight but there are storage cubbies at the head of each bed, beds fold up and the bottom bunks double as benches for the small table. There is storage under those benches and you will hopefully find a pillow for your bed if it has not been nabbed by a roommate, there are also spare blankets for if it gets cold.
Departure
A second horn sounds over the noise of the hail stones to encourage any stragglers and the doors slide shut. Veteran passengers know what will happen next, they may wish to brief their new companions.
The train sets off, the fog obscuring the view as it picks up speed.
"Welcome aboard, passengers of the Voidtrecker Express." A female-coded artificial sounding voice echoes throughout the train. "Please take the time to read the passenger information displayed on the Information and Communication points and familiarise yourself with the layout and emergency exits."
The train begins to tilt, leaving the ground and rising up into the fog filled sky.
"Entrance into Voidspace imminent. New passengers are advised to remain seated. Entry into Voidspace in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."
A shudder, a jolt, a lurch to the left. A flash of light, colourful and blinding. As quick as it happens it is done. The train seems to steady. The fog from the windows is gone now, replaced with a kaleidoscope of ever changing colours.

So after staring at the duo in surprise for a few moments, the girl instead politely smiles as she approaches the two of them.

"Ah.." Apparently she's never had to wonder that before, since she just.. seems to think.. and stare.. Her gaze gliding back and forth between Katsuya and his slightly odd - but so, so very cute! - horse friend.
"I'm.. not sure, actually..? Although if your friend is here, then they should probably be safe! I actually have a cat here and I don't think he's had any trouble.."
Although that might just be since he's a vampire turned cat, but look, those are details.

Apparently she doesn't seem to consider this a bad way to do things.. Although it might make her politeness show even more since it's such a sharp contrast! She even stops to politely make a full on bow at him before uprighting herself to continue her introduction.
"Madoka Kaname, it's very nice to meet you.. Um, who are you and your friend here, if I may ask..?" Yes, she's really polite enough to keep refering to what seems like an adorable pony as a friend. It is very clearly friend-shaped.

"Sorry. I'm so used to doing it in the western order since not a lot of people here are Japanese.." Which means there would be a lot more confusion going around if she did put her last name first! Madoka has been here for long enough now that she's just used to doing it this way.
She gives him a smile, and then gives the ponyta a smile in turn.
"Kaseri.. She's really, really pretty, Jonouchi-san. You're so lucky to have such a cute friend!" Madoka pauses, tilting her head to the side as she thinks. "She probably can't drink hot chocolate though, right..?"

He sighs, and then shrugs. "Ah well. Er. I dunno, I guess I'll let 'er try a sip? Like givin' dogs a lick 'f ice cream 'r somethin' righ'? Jus' can't give too much."
He has never had a dog in his life.
Still. He blinks, and then grins. "Hah! Well 'f y' want, she'll probably be your friend too t' be honest! Kaseri's pretty much all over whoever she can find!"
And true to those words, the pony rubs against Madoka's side. She's a little attention seeker she is!

Oh gosh. Madoka is getting attention from the beautiful fairytale pony. Sorry, Katsuya, were you saying something? Because it's all gone from Madoka's mind the very instant she notices the pony rubbing up against her. There's only attention for this adorable thing now.
"W.. Wow!" But can you blame the girl? Look how happy of a look she's shooting Kaseri's way! Today actually was kind of a sad day with the departures, but having such a cute pony around makes up for it for a few moments.
"You're so sweet.. Are you sure you'd like to be my friend, Kaseri?"

His fate is accepted. Katsuya just watches as the pony whinnies and angles for some head scritches, acting more like a small dog than an extremely small horse.

But as she giggles and gently pets the pony's head, she finally seems to realise something. The girl's eyes grow wide as she looks back at Katsuya.

"Ahh- 's all good!! She uh...she has tha' kind 'f effect t' be honest..." he coughs, frowning at the ponyta.
Kaseri in turn gives the sort of 'smile' that says she knows exactly what she's doing and refuses to stop.
What a traitor. "Hones'ly I c'n probably make it myself if y' show me where it is- gives y' more time t' pet her too," he adds, gesturing.

But no fear, because even though Madoka is still making sure to give Kaseri plenty of attention and headpats, she isn't going to fully ignore Katsuya! She couldn't do that, it'd break her heart!
"Are you sure..? I mean, if you're still new, then I can understand it if everything is a little overwhelming at first.. I was really scared too on my first day here." She's trying to sound serious, but some more nuzzles from the pony get her momentarily distracted enough to giggle before trying to calm herself again. "She can just come with us, if you want! Maybe she'd like something to eat or drink too?"

Ah, well. Nothing he's not accepted. And because Madoka is a true good, they're still getting hot chocolate. Yay! He seems a bit confused about the idea of it being overwhelming though, scratching his head. "Nyh? ...I mean...yeah, I guess there's a lot goin' on, but it ain' so bad righ'? Got a bag full 'f stuff, an' th' train's got spots t' sleep 'n eat 'n such..."
He grins, laughing. "I mean, las' two times I appeared anywhere, I had nothin' but th' clothes on my back! Th's is way better!" Anyway. "Good idea t' get her somethin' too though- we both haven' had anythin' since lunch... ...an' tha' was hours ago f'r us!"

Some people might say that in a sarcastic kind of way. Like poor guy, a few hours without food, how terrible, how would you survive. But Madoka's surprise seems to be very genuine, like she does think Katsuya and his adorable pony having to go without food for a few hours is a tragedy.
"P-Please go sit down in the dining carriage then-- um, that's the next one over! I'll quickly make something for the two of you and bring it over in a moment, okay..? Maybe then you can tell me a little about those other times you appeared in places..?" Since that part of what he said did stand out to her. But she doesn't want to make him wait by forcing him to talk about that first.

When it drops, it's more due to the surprise of being taken seriously than anything though. "Nyh- S- Seriously, y'd do tha'!?" he exclaims, choking. He's not about to refuse free food, so it's all he can do to nod. "I mean...shit, 'f yer sure then..! I'll talk 's long as y' want 'f th' trade's cooked food!"

So instead he can just have two meals! Surely he has room for that, right. Not to mention she's pretty sure that the food for actual dinner will be better than what she can make, but she's going to try her best.
