Who: Tony + Varies
Where: Tony's lab and then the medical room
When: Early Grasshopper 3- Grasshopper 4
What: Between bad self-care and poor ventilation while working on specific chemicals, Tony passes out
Warnings: CW: Distress and medical stuff? Tony being Tony? Idk.
Notes: Tony's classes are going to be suspended for a couple weeks.

Grasshopper 3, The Incident [Narrative]
It'd been a rough few weeks. He'd made a decision to end his relationship with Ignis only to have the man disappear. He had to watch the man depart on platform day and hold his child as she mourned the loss. His other kid, Peter, was a mess with losing May and still not over Gwen leaving- not that he blamed the boy at all. Wei and his son leaving had been hard to watch too.

So, he coped as he always coped- by working. The pressure to find a cure for a boy who deserved to have his life back spurred him on as well. Working closely with Peter and sometimes Conan, he knew they were getting close. With just a little more coffee, a little more bourbon, he was sure they were going to get that breakthrough.

He'd woken up early and returned to his work. In a beaker, he added a chemical compound he'd created over the last few days and watched the reaction. He winced as the reaction kicked up an awful smell. Turning to write some notes, he felt the room start to spin. The coffee cup fell out of his hand and broke on the floor. Coughing, he couldn't catch his breath. Putting a hand to his chest, he felt pain lance through his body stemming from his heart. Just when he hit the floor, he didn't know but the world turned black.

The Rescue [Closed to Kitty, the Doctor, and whoever else she might need (medical people, idk?)]

When Kitty finds him, he's on the floor barely breathing. It's not quite a heart attack but the symptoms are really similar. A few of the coffee cup shards dug into his skin when he fell. He needs help and fast!

Grasshopper 3 (late) and Grasshopper 4, Medical Room [OTA]

He spent the majority of the day asleep. Slowly sometime that evening, Tony woke feeling weak and disoriented. He groaned finding himself in the medical room. That was never a good sign.

Honestly, it takes Madoka a moment as well to realise that he can't quite lift her the way he usually can in his current state. It's why there's a slightly awkward moment where he pulls on her but can't quite manage to get her up - but thankfully Madoka quickly tries to recover the moment by putting in a bit more effort herself, trying her best to make it seem as if he did lift her up using his own force. (It's not entirely convincing, since Madoka is so, so bad at being sneaky or subtle, but an attempt was still made to try and protect Tony's dignity.)

"Hmmm.." She hums a little at his question once she's sitting on the bed, still holding onto his hands. "I think I want to go, but.. you probably can't go, right, dad..?"

Especially since it's so early after what happened to him. He's hardly even had time to recover yet. Walking around the train regularly might already be a hassle, let alone having to do actual mission stuff.

She was so sweet it made his teeth hurt sometimes. Just how was it that he ended up having such a kind-hearted kid like her in his life? He didn't deserve it, but he loved it.

Once she was settled and got her usual quick kiss on her brow, he listened. It wasn't hard to see where this was headed. "No, kitten, I can't." If he was even a fraction closer to well, he would've stubbornly gone even if it was just on the blue team to stagger along at her side. However, that wasn't going to be help anyone. "If think you need to go, you should. You won't be alone. You'll have your uncles, Maru, Ple Two, and there are others. Stay close to them and if something doesn't seem right trust your gut and go find backup, okay?" He paused before pulling her into a hug. "I'm sorry, I won't be there with you too."

"It's okay.." She mumbles as she leans into the hug. Madoka is trying to not lean too hard, since she doesn't want to accidentally push him over while he has less strength than usually, but it's pretty tempting to cling to him as tightly as possible right now. Even though she may be used to her dad specifically not being with her on the mission - considering they're on different teams and all - she still really doesn't want to leave her dad behind in this state...

"I'll be alright, dad. I promise I'll be careful." And like he said, there will be so many people to look after her. She may just be one of the most well-protected kids on the entire trian. "But won't you be lonely by yourself..?"

Of course Madoka's worry is on him more than it is on herself.

"Are you kidding?" He asked with a playful smirk. It was less bright than normal, partially because of his condition and some because this was forced. "A week of having the train to myself? That a damn vacation."

Still, he had his pride and even in a hospital had to look strong for those he loved. To reinforce the jovial attitude he was going for, he tickled Mady's sides hoping for a laugh. He wanted so badly to keep her safe. He was tempted to ask her stay here with him, but she'd said she wanted to go. "Hey uh.. do you want me to ask Sarai if she'll come along?" Even though Sarai wasn't a mother, she had that air of a protective mother bear. She'd been so good to him and with the purple team so big.. he didn't think she'd mind.

Madoka gasps.

"Dad, you said a bad wo--!" But before she can even finish that sentence, there's already that unexpected tickle attack. And Madoka is so, so very sensitive and weak to it. Her sentence is immediately cut off as she instead gasps for air and laughs, wiggling a bit to get away from the hands.

Thankfully she gets a break from it soon enough, but the question instead leaves her looking surprised. Sarai.. Madoka doesn't know her very well on a personal level, but she does at least know who he's talking about.

".. Um, why..?" It's a weak question, considering she doesn't want to seem like she's questioning his judgement! She thinks her dad is smart, after all, but she doesn't seem so sure about this one. "I think we should be fine.. Maru is really strong. He can handle a lot. And.."

She almost says 'papa's friends', or even just her uncles, but it feels a little weird now Ignis is gone..

"Everyone else is really great and strong too. Wouldn't her own team need her instead..?"

Tony sighed, knowing his suggestion was overkill. It was just so hard to let something so precious go anywhere that wasn't right at his side. He wanted to keep her safe and forever happy. Unfortunately the level of protection he wanted to give would most certainly impede her happiness. Although being stuck in a person size hamster ball did sound kind of fun.

"Alright, if you think so. I just want you to be okay." He pressed another kiss to the top of her head. "Your uncles are strong, especially Gladio. I know he'll watch out for you." It was just human- or maybe just Tony versions of human- that could put someone in the most safe, most protected spot possible and still be worried she'll somehow end up hurt.

Also he purposefully said 'uncles' because he knew it might be awkward for her. Their loyalty hadn't changed, he could see that clear enough in the past couple weeks since Ignis left. He might have been the reason they'd been connected, but a bond had formed strong enough to remain even without him.

"Here," he pulled the ring off his hand and handed it to her. "It's my wedding band and what your papa had worn when he was here. Keep it in your pocket while you're on the mission, okay?"

She takes the ring from him, quietly staring down at it for a moment or two as it lies in her hands.

Then Madoka slowly nods.

"Thank you, dad.. I'll make sure to keep it safe." There's no way she could lose something that important, after all. And it'll be a nice reminder of Tony - and even a bit of Ignis - while she's out on the mission.

The girl puts it in her pocket, but mostly so she can move to instead wrap her arms around her dad in a hug. She's trying really hard to be careful though, she doesn't want to make his hurt worse! (Although it's not like Madoka has much in the way of physical strength to begin with..)

"I'll still miss though, dad. I know I'll be okay, and I know you'll be okay.. But I'll miss you anyway while I'm gone."

"I know you will," he encouraged with a smile. He trusted her. Even if something did happen to it, he'd be okay so long as he got his little girl back. Perhaps it was silly, but it made him feel like a piece of him was going with her this way. If he was back home, she would so have an iron suit by now!

He curled his arms around her when she hugs him. He didn't want to let go. "I'll miss you too, kitten." He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Go make us proud." He let the hug linger a little longer before pulling back. It seemed the right thing to do, to be the one to make that unwanted motion toward parting.

It's definitely the right thing to do. If he hadn't pulled back first, Madoka wouldn't have been so sure if she would have been able to do it.. After all, she also doesn't want to let go. Even though she's made her mind up that she definitely wants to go along on the mission, it's so hard to say goodbye to her dad. Even if it's just for a week or two.

It's why, even as he pulls back and the hug ends, Madoka still sits there for a moment more. She just silently stares at him, a smile on her face that's genuine, but that also has something that's just a little bit sad in it. But after a moment she manages to pull herself together enough to move off the bed.

"Okay. I'll make sure to do something cool enough that you can brag about it to everyone."

.. well, she's not so sure if she'll manage to do that, but.. managing to stay alive is also pretty cool, right? Clearly.

"Bye, dad.. See you again soon." It's so tempting to linger, but Madoka quickly turns around and leaves the room before she won't ever be able to pull herself out of there. She knows they'll be reunited soon enough - so she just has to focus on that.
