The Battle Itself [Closed to Jonouchi]
She also really hopes Kaiba can restore the phone's code back to where it was before they hacked and messed with it to make the livestream possible. But all that can come after the battle.
Because she's way too hyped up to focus on anything else.
"Ready to do this?" The question, at this point, was more formality than anything and it seemed to echo the cleared Gym. Gods, even with the few here, it seems empty. But, as soon as that crossed her mind, it's pushed aside as she holds Dancer like a falconer would, the red oricorio silent with an anticipatory focus. Sure, she could toss Dancer's levelball out onto the field and release the monster that way, but this was far more dramatic.
Or maybe it's just in her mind as she flings her arm skywards, the oricorio taking to the air with ease. "In you go! Swords Dance!"
Dancer immediately falls into an aerial dance that's more heat shimmer and ember flickers that strangely almost resemble swords.

Katsuya's not unfamiliar with one on one battles- but he can't help but get the feeling there's going to be something different about this fight. It's probably the way that Dancer is held right now- or even just the way Dancer looks. She's nothing like any Oricorio he's ever seen, and while the swords dance at least rings a bell it's about the only thing that does.
No time to think about that though he thinks, nodding to the ponyta with him. "Alrigh'- Kaseri, let's get 'm feelin' a little less punchy huh! Heal Pulse!"
It's a strange choice- but for him, not at all. Kaseri's horn shines, and a wash of energy blasts off from it. It doesn't bring any harm- after all that's heal pulse but...there's something Different about it somehow.
It appears the differences in their worlds lay in more than just aesthetic.
no subject
She'll have to be careful and while she could, probably, easily end this... she doesn't want to. Not when this is the first battle she's had in months. Not when the adrenaline has started to rise and all of her titles and accolades demand she put on a show.
"Will-o'-the-Wisp!" She says calmly, and even before she's finished talking, Dancer pivots on a wingtip and her free wing trails several balls of purple-blue fire. A single flap of the wing sends them Kaseri's way as Dancer wheels and glides towards the other end of the carriage.
no subject
But Katsuya saw that pause, and he grins competitively. He doesn't know how different, but obviously that move was different enough. "Heh! Alrigh' Kaseri! Y've got th' right idea!" he shouts, the ponyta in question still running about the room from where she tried (and failed) to avoid will-o-wisp. "Let's keep it up an' make th's bird see double!"
Whatever that meant, the ponyta's got it. It's no 'double team', but where Katsuya' from it's close enough. Agility is what the ponyta makes use of, charging back away from the bird as fast as her legs can go- back and forth in a zigzagging manner, the way a prey animal would avoid the attention of any predator. There's nothing to hide around with that strategy, but that's not what's necessary.
Katsuya wasn't kidding when he said 'see double', and ghostly after images of the ponyta start to appear, gaining further clarity as she goes. She can't just keep running until she's out of the carriage of course, but that just means she doubles back around and holds the zigzagging pattern. There's no stopping right now, not if she can help it!
no subject
Still... 'Make the bird see double'? Probably a Double Team, based on how it looks, yet Eva's not buying it. Not after witnessing that Heal Pulse.
And then there's the way the pokemon's running. Odd, but all it means is it could have some zigzagoon in its lineage somewhere. They're both in the Field-class at least and the Galarish zigzagoon's adult form's known as obstagoon, right?
Whatever. She can and will ask later and if it's not one thing, it's another, and if not that, then it comes down to training styles. Either way, now's not the time. Not when she has a battle to win (or at least use to put on a good show if she loses) "Interesting, but enough playing around. God Bird!"
She means Sky Attack, but for now, all Dancer does is circle the field as she glows with faint flames.
no subject
They cannot let that move connect, he thinks as he hears a screech in his mind. "KASERI!" he orders, the ponyta still running. "BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE- THROW HER DOWN!"
Psychic.
He just has to hope it's overpowering enough to make it in.
no subject
Yet Dancer is fine. The bird picks herself up with fluff of feathers and a sharp, angry screech-click far more befitting a bird of prey than what she actually is.
"Like we haven't dealt with this before! Burn Out!" The order's given with a jerk of her head, hand-thrown out to one side. Dramatic, eh. Good for those watching on the big screen? Hell yeah!
Dancer doesn't even take to the air for this. Oh no. She's as fast on her feet as she in the air as she literally bailie dances towards Kaseri, feathers alight with fire. A fire that oddly, seems to start about a centimetre from her body. Embers briefly trail her, but they fizz and fade about a foot or so away.

Gently wraps this so it can split into the individual aftermath threads
Immediate Aftermath- [Closed to Kaito]
"Kaito-kun," not something she used with him, and it shows just how concerned she is about her friend. "You did really well out there. Now, what worried you... and don't tell me your fine. Please."
If she made a mistake somewhere, she's gonna own that mistake.
no subject
"Did I worry you? Sorry. I didn't mean to flinch. Just caught me by surprise. Wasn't expecting that."
no subject
And, from the set of her shoulders, she takes that duty and responsibility seriously.
no subject
"That's coz you're responsible, neh? I'm okay, I promise. I was just startled, that's all. I trust you, Iden'no-san."
no subject
On the other... She doesn't like it.
"That wasn't a startle. Trust or not, you flinched. I saw it and -if you want, you can give Dancer the other potion I've got."

Immediate Aftermath- [Closed to Jonouchi]
"After a hit like that," she starts calmly, as if she's not angry-terrified-upset about the stunt he pulled at the end of the battle. "the safest place for a pokemon is inside their 'ball until a potion or revive or 'centre can be found. Every trainer knows that. So why don't you?"
no subject
"I knew she'd be more upset 'f I pulled her out b'fore it," he explains calmly, looking to Kaseri instead of to Eva. "And I knew she'd be alrigh'," he adds, shrugging. "Yeah, we lost, but this wasn't th' kind of fight were folks don' get back up. Safest spot righ' now, that ain't gonna be in a ball. That's gonna be righ' here," Katsuya continues, shuffling to adjust his hold on the ponyta. Kaseri in question seems to stir a little, before nuzzling tightly against the sweater with a happy nicker. She's cradled not unlike a newborn animal. "Gotta ask y', safest place f'r a trainer's sort with your words is a ball, but what's that say abou' th' ones in the wild huh?"
Well. Maybe that wasn't the best thing to say. "Not th' point I guess. We're not somewhere somethin' else is gonna come at 'er, not righ' now. I trust myself t' keep her safe- means I can keep 'er comfy too."
no subject
A pokemon's safety. "The safest place for a trained, fainted pokemon is in their 'ball, given they go into suspended animation -stasis if you will- and don't feel pain. It doesn't matter if we're not in the wild or right next to a 'centre. As for wild pokemon, that depends on the species. Most will run away before they reach the point of fainting. Trained pokemon aren't like that because we've built trust with them, and it's a trainer's job to manage their health and safety."
no subject
"How hurt do you think she is?" He sounds almost insulted- perhaps even confused. "Hell, she got more upset about th' potion if anything. I said th' safest place is here, outta th' ball. I meant it," he adds seriously. "We've been t'gether since I fell int' th' forest, y' don' think I know her by now?"
There's a pause from there however, as Eva keeps going. The blond blinks, and blinks again, his eyes wide.
"...Tha's..."
He can't be hearing this right. Can he? It has to mean something else. But... "Tha's never happened where I came from," he finally says, blinking slowly. "Battle's always go t' faint, I even stuck around 'n watched one 'f 'm roll over 'n wander off. ...Hell, you sayin' things in your world go so hard they'll die?" he adds with a frown, voice edged with panic. "That... ...That doesn' happen..!"
no subject
"Yeah... my world is harsher than yours is, and the one people on this Train know something about, more or less." It's as much confirmation as he'll get on that topic right now. "But, I will stand by my words. Once a pokemon's fainted, it's better to 'ball them and worry about hurt feelings later. Maybe she's not as hurt as I'd expect given a Critical from a 'God Bird' at that level, yet neither of us are in our worlds any more and... It's better to be safer than not."
no subject
It very likely did.
The humor fades though. It's serious after all, this is serious, and he's pretty sure it'll just end in shouting if he doesn't at least prove he's taking it seriously too. The part of Eva that reminded him of his Kaiba has faded by now.
Now, it feels more like being lectured by Wicke. "Y' have your words, I have mine. An' unless it's dangerous around her, or to her, I ain' breakin' her trust like tha'," he says warningly. "...'f it makes y' feel any better I'll stop by tha' medical car, but I ain't puttin' her in there when it was hard 'nough t' get her registered t' one in the first place. Th' ball 's either emergencies, or her call."
He straightens more, pokemon snoring quietly as he gets ready to go. "Jus' trust me on tha'... Ok? ...Please?"

Wrap?
OPEN TO ALL: Cinema for all those watching! Treat this as like a mingle thing. :)
It doesn't last for long and soon the projector is showing the battle feed.
The battle itself is dramatic, flashy, and very much a fight. While it is violent in many respects and animals do appear to get hurt, it's also very clear that the pokemon are enjoying it, that they can heal themselves, and that Eva (at least) is very keyed into what's happening on the field.
After the battle, OTA
Kaito reassured and Jonouchi chewed out, Eva's found herself in the Cinema where she's flopped into the first open seat she's found. Dancer is perched on the back of the seat in front as Eva checks her over with long practised movements. "Maybe next time I can give you a better field, hmm?"
The trill coo could be agreement, or it could be the enjoyment of the post-battle care she's getting from her trainer. "Space aside, that was good. Gods... It was good."
More than good; there's a contentedness about her that hasn't been there for a long, long time; will she have to do damage control? Probably. Does she care? No, no she doesn't and it's not like she truly made it a secret that pokemon can fight.
Two-
Dancer checked and groomed, Eva crouches down next to Lele and starts the complicated task of disconnecting the cables, replacing panelling and fixing Lele up so it's not showing its internals any more. "You saved it to the HD?"
"Video Stream: Saved," the bland, feminine-sounding robotic says and Eva hums with a nod.
"Good. I'll need to go over it and see where I can improve." Because as good as the battle was? Damn straight she's not letting herself grow complacent with her skills.
two
"Remind me never to cross you," he jokes as he works.
no subject
"Besides, you're my brother." It's an easy admission and she's not taking it back. Not when she's already decided. "I'd sooner headlock you anyway."
no subject
"You're an incredible team," he admits as he works, lifting his head to grant her a rare smile when her next words sink in. He freezes in place, a faint red dusting appearing at the tips of his ears. That word carries a lot of weight for someone whose sole experience of familial love is through his brother.
"...your what?" He's not angry, just baffled.
no subject
On the other hand - Kaiba is baffled and she's pretty sure it's because he really only has Mokuba as family, given she doesn't think he's ever spoken about a mother or father.
"Adopted brother, but brother nonetheless," Eva says simply.
