Blue Meeting:

Who: Gladio + Blue Team and Friends.
Where: Dining carriage. (Change of venue, larger space)
When: Grasshopper 15th after lunch.
What: The first Blue Team meeting with the new Leadership in place.
Warnings: Unknown. Possible cuteness. Snack induced jealousy. Will update if something comes up!

To say that Gladio was nervous would be an understatement. He hadn't been able to get much sleep the night before worrying if this would work out the way he had planned. Would people be receptive to what he asked? Would people even come to this meeting? He had been assured by several people there would be at least some (who could resist lovingly prepared snacks?) but it remained to be seen.

Gladio sat at a table, there was a notepad and a pencil in his hand. He would be taking notes of things he deemed important.

Once people started filtering in, Gladio began to feel somewhat better. Calmer. He watched them milling about with a smile. It was only when he thought there was enough that he rose and gave a call to get people's attention.

"First, I just wanna thank everyone for coming. I know it was short notice, but between the mission and platform day coming up, my hands were tied.

In future I'm going to do my best to have a meeting like this before every big mission, once we get the info. I don't think a little organisation can hurt. And... with that in mind. The reason I wanted to get you all here. I want everyone to get to know each other. And I want to learn more about you all. I'd like, if you're all willing, to assign simple roles within the team to each person for missions. If you don't want to be part of that, just let me know. That's your choice." He smiled wider. "If you do... I'll get to you. If you've any questions, I'm open to them. Piccolo and WangJi are also here to answer your questions and concerns. Not just here and not just for missions, but any you have. We're here for you."

With that his smile became a grin. "Now... I know two of our number have been working hard to make delicious snacks, so do me a favour? Make them happy and dig in! Enjoy them and... chat. Mingle. Get to know your fellow blue. We're a small team, lets make us the best team!"

Yeah, it got hectic on that one. [ He won't ask why Gladio wasn't there, it doesn't matter enough to pry. ] The entire island was being attacked nonstop after the first night. But there were a few people from all different teams since not everyone could do the other missions, so we had some more numbers than usual.

[ Usual for what Blue has, which isn't many. ]

I ended up playing support for Orange, for the most part.

[It hadn't been so bad, until the storm set in and he ended up sick as hell. But he'd still managed to help out where he could.

It still made him feel guilty he hadn't been there with his team though. But helping had eased some of it.]

Nothing wrong with jumping to a different team. I do it all the time!

[ Hey if he wanted to go over to Orange that time, whatever, right? ]

It's just how things worked out that time. But, I wasn't a lead for Blue then. Not even a co-lead. So it didn't matter as much.

I won't be hopping around anymore.

Not that I'd deny anyone else doing that. [He glanced around at his time, small as it might be, and felt a sense of pride that he knew at least most of them would stick with blue when the time came. If they went elsewhere, he knew there would be a reason, and he would never begrudge them that. He was proud of them all, no matter what.]

[ ...well, whatever Gladio is thinking about, Tidus allows a few seconds without interrupting him. Sometimes you just need one of those moments to dwell on whatever was going on inside

When he does speak up again, he does so cheerily. ]

So, you think that's all you want from me? [ Gladio likely knew enough about him to be able to figure if he'd want to call him over or not. It'd be peculiar, and he wondered if anything would come of it--but Tidus figured he'd make his own judgments about where he'd be come next mission too. ]

I think I've got enough...

Unless there's anything else you think you're good at that could benefit a mission? It's not just fighting, after all.

[Gladio was, after all, just getting the details as best he could. Whether he called on Tidus or Tidus joined them on his own, it was nice to know a bit about him in advance so he knew where he could potentially place him in a pinch.]

[ Hmmm. That makes him lean back a bit, until- ]

Swimming. [ And he remembers something, a light chuckle in his words as he goes on. ] You need someone to go down somewhere and there's fiends there too? No problem! Getting knocked around and holding my breath was kinda my job. Swinging a sword underwater isn't that hard either.

[ Because screw density. ]

Swimming... Interesting. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. [And he made a note of it, because of course you never knew what would come in handy to know.]

You're a guy of many talents, huh?

[ Pfft. ] Aren't you one to talk? You're a--Shield [ that was the word, wasn't it? ] for Noctis, aren't you? A royal guard? Now you're a Team Lead!

Bet you've got plenty of tricks up your sleeves.

[A brief look of surprise crosses Gladio's expression before it vanishes and he laughed.]

Tricks? No. What you see is what you get with me. But you're right. Back home my official title would've been Shield to the King. Basically a royal bodyguard.

So that's a pretty big job, right? Did you train for it? How you get to become a bodyguard to a King?

[ That'd be a pretty big deal, right? And not just having an old guy throw you forward and say that you're a guard too. ]

[Gladio smiled, he supposed it was only fair that he have to answer questions after asking so many.

He leaned against the table, arms folded, and took a deep breath.]

Born into it. The Amicitia have a long tradition of being Shields to the King. Being the first son meant I basically had a job from the day I was born. Started training at a young age, but officially my training started when I was 16 and I joined the Crownsguard. Those are the guards who directly protect the King and the Citadel.

[ There's a long hum, intrigued. ]

So was Prompto like that too? And Ignis? I know Ignis was Noctis's personal...caretaker? [ Was that the word? His mind nearly went to babysitter. ] Not really used to anything like this in my world.

[ There's at least that intrigued carried as he asks than any particular judgment. He got over that when listening to Ignis tell about his job. As a kid. ]

[He shook his head at the question.]

Prompto was... just a normal guy living his normal life. He'd where he is now because he became friends with Noct. He joined the Crownsguard later in his life, just so he could come with us on... a trip.

As for Iggy... Officially his title was 'Hand of the King', basically an advisor. Noct being Noct, Iggy kind of took it upon himself to help him out with a lot more than he needed to. But I guess, in the end, we all did. Noct had a lot of people watching over him. As a kid he had nannies. Mine and Ignis' jobs only really came into effect once we'd completed our Crownsguard duties.

[He gave a low laugh and a slight shrug of his shoulders.]

I guess every world is different. Mine included.

[ Tidus has a slight smile as he listens, one that grows wider at the laugh and end of what Gladio says. ]

It makes it interesting! I mean, if there's anything good about this train, it's getting to learn about other places, other people. I don't regret that. [ Even if he'd rather... well, rather other people weren't forced into this, had a choice in any of this.

He leans back some. ] That sounds like Ig for you. And hey, like this...well, it's the first time I ever heard about kings, but the ones I've met in person are pretty cool compared to what you see in the movies. You knight types too!

[ And he gives Gladio a grin with that. ]

[There was no way he could deny that. It was something he enjoyed himself, learning about other worlds, how things he knew from his world meant something completely different to another. It was amazing and fascinating.

Though he'd not realised that Ignis and Tidus had been close, toward the end there, Ignis had been keeping himself more to himself, it felt. But he missed him. ]

I'm glad you think so. I don't think I'm all that scary when you get to know me.

[He'd grin back, pleased that Tidus hadn't gotten any bad impressions of him so far.]

You, scary? Nah. [ He didn't really know the guy before any of this, and despite the muddled 'meeting', Gladio didn't seem so bad. But does make him ask in jest- ]

Why-- is there usually a face you have to make on the job? Scare the people away?

[ He got one of those scary stoic faces hiding away in stock? ]

[A shake of his head, he honestly didn't think he did. He was just him. But if you asked Prompto and Noct, he could be scary... He had been, in their memories. And it was part of why he tried so hard to remain calm at all times now. He refused to become that person who had scared those two. So at the teasing question, Gladio just smiled.]

I'm just what you see here, Tidus. Maybe we all have a battle face we put on when the going gets tough, but I've never seen it.
