Cinema car

This morning, there's one of two movies playing, Humans and Heroes, a space opera featuring a princess and the wanted criminal she ends up accompanying across multiple galaxies and Wild Magic, an animated movie about a witch who has to help a group of kids banish a demon one of them accidentally summoned on a dare.

Noctis is here for both of them, wearing one headphone earpiece and appearing to be asleep in both cases, even though he's the one who picked out the movies.

However, if anyone tries to change what's playing, he'll 'wake up' to complain.


Kitchen

Seriously? Do all these recipes have carrots?

[After replaying all the ICP's current recipes, he goes about searching for something
1) he can find the ingredients for
2) he can make
3) that isn't carrots

Eventually he finds sandwich fixings--hopefully edible, if he got the shapes of the containers right.]


Random

[He's heard that there's nothing outside of the train, but that the void is colorful. To him, it's about as colorful as anything else, but that hasn't stopped him from hanging out by random windows and just staring out of them like something might happen.

This is probably not recommended for anyone else, but he's not about to tell anyone what to do.]

[Gladio replied, not at all amused himself by the limiting choice of ingredient.]

Should have something else next month. But for now... we make do.

Cinema car

Duo wandered into the cinema to check what was playing, caught sight of space, and felt a wave of nostalgia that had him soon finding a seat at the end of the same row as the other guy.

He settled himself down to quietly watch.

So far he had a couple nights sleep under his belt, so he was feeling much better, though a little edgy and... avoiding people currently. The darkened cinema carriage was the perfect place to hide.

Kitchen

[sobothersome]

[The small, black cat was already sat in the kitchen when Noctis entered. He was sat on one of the counters, munching on a carrot cake muffin thing someone had made.

He cocked his head watching the other walking around. He probably should have spoken up when the guy first entered the room. Maru thought about it. But it was only when the guy pulled out a container of tofu he had to speak up.]

... Tofu on a sandwich? You sure about that?

Hopefully something meat-based.

[Or, y'know, actual meat.]

Yeah...unless I've grabbed mayo instead of peanut butter.

[He waves the jar in Gladio's direction. It is indeed peanut butter, but it's up to Gladio to reveal that if he wants to.]

It was pork last month. And pork people hunted down from a planet we were on...

[It was a hell of a lot of pork. Why the train insisted on ONE item to focus on was beyond Gladio. After a month it pretty much ensured that no one would want to see that food item ever again.

Also, he wasn't a jackass. Though he was tempted...]

It's crunchy. Is that the one you wanted?

[Out of reflex more than anything, he glances at the container and back to where the voice came from. He didn't bump into anyone while moving around, so the owner of the voice had to be sitting on the counter for whatever reason.]

Is that what this is? [Someone would probably eat it. He's not that someone, so he's putting it back.] Nope. Hey, is this jelly?

[It's not quite. It's a jar of relish.]

[Duo's picked a fairly quiet scene to settle himself into; the protagonists have just arrived at a space station that's functional but just recently abandoned to retrieve a lost item.

Noctis doesn't notice who walked in, just that someone did.]

You missed the beginning, if that bothers you.

[sobothersome]

Yup.

[That's what that was. Tofu. Now, if he'd fried it with some soy sauce and threw a bunch of other things onto the sandwich, maybe it would have been good. But just as it was? Nope.

Maru put down his half eaten muffin and padded his way down the line of counters and then jumped. He normally would have aimed for a shoulder, but this time he landed atop the fridge door.]

Relish. The jelly is here.

[He dropped down into the frige and reached out two paws to pluck the jar from the tray and held it out to Noctis.]

[Duo, a little startled to have someone speak to him, especially when the guy looked like he'd been asleep, looked over.]

Uh... nah, doesn't bother me. Just... [He looked back at the screen with a low laugh.] reminded me a bit of home, I guess. Figured I'd sit and watch what happens.

Works for me. At this point, I'm just glad there's real food and not weird protein gel crap.

[Time to apply the peanut butter to the bread...and his hand, a bit. Oops.]

...Wait, hold on. Pork people?

[callmegladio]

Pork pe... No, no I meant... [He laughed] There were these giant boars. A few hunted them down and brought them back to the train for extra food.

[Not that they'd needed any more pork products... It seemed like overkill when the next month ended up being pork.]

Uhh... Hey? Do you need any help?

You hoping to see something out there?

[ He was just passing through, but seeing Noct staring out like makes him wonder if he's doing it intentionally, or just happens to be lost in thought. That happens sometimes. ]

Hoping to. Don't think it'll happen but it's worth a shot.

[blitzcheer]

Oh yeah? [ Hmm. ] Looks like a...

[ Jokingly, he leans where he's standing to look out one of the windows himself, trying to figure out some dumb thing to say. ]

...schh--

[ Except he has to blink, pull his head away with a shake. ]

Ow-- an eye strain to me.

[ Still blinking wildly. Is it him or did everything become a lot more red? ]

[He looks relieved at the clarification.]

Oh...that makes more sense. Sorta. I'm not picturing everyone hunting down a sentient race of pigs or anything.

[Hopefully not sentient.]

I don't...but if you want to finish the sandwich, I'm not complaining.

[He's just going to hold the knife out to Gladio if he wants to take it, licking the peanut butter he smudged on his hand off in the meantime.]

[It's just him.]

You alright? Don't hurt yourself.

[Should he be concerned? Tidus doesn't sound like he's in immediate danger, so maybe not.]

[A cook Noctis is not. Even if he could see properly, he wouldn't be able to do anything particularly special with the tofu. Maybe frying, but there's a pretty good chance he'd also burn at least half of it.]

Where's he--oh. [There sure was jelly, and also...fur? Why was there fur. Hopefully Maru didn't mind Noctis taking the jelly with one hand and reaching up to feel his shape with the other.]

...What are you?

[Gladio shook his head and held back a laugh as he moved around to Noctis' side and took the knife from his hand.

It didn't take him more than a minute to get the sandwich finished and cut in half. He placed the two halves on a plate and pressed it gently into the others hands.]

I'll clean up here. Don't worry. You just eat.

[sobothersome]

[Maru didn't mind the hand feeling his head. Though he did lower his head so a finger didn't get his eye. An ear twitched.]

Cat... Can't you tell?

[A pause.]

Meow.

[blitzcheer]

I'm fine-- [ it's ok he's always this level of dumb ] Those colours just get all...funny.

[ Or maybe that's just him too. ]

Anyway, how'd you do that last mission? Were you Blue or Purple?

[ He doesn't remember seeing Noct with Red or Orange, at least--and there was more room to be missed in the other two teams. ]

[Sorry Duo, that's just his default when he's sitting for a long period of time and not actively doing anything--either actually napping or appearing to. He's found it prevents awkward staring at the very least.]

Home? You do a lot of space travel?

[waywardking]

[It's okay Tidus, he's only judging you a little. Especially considering he sort of prompted the staring in the first place.]

Purple. [What's this concept of switching teams you speak of? He hasn't figured that out yet.] Didn't do much, though. It was hard to figure out what was going on.

[He definitely felt like a cat, and Noctis carefully felt around Maru's ears and down the side of his head. A fluffy cat at that, and one that apparently can not only talk but can use its paws as hands. Huh.]

If I could, I would've said something before. I'm not used to cats talking.

[Here he was, assuming that Maru was simply a very short person.]

Really? I think that was the only team I knew what was going on in. You not good with being underground?

[ No judging here!! ]

[He stares out at the void for a few seconds before answering.]

I'm not good with unfamiliar places. And it was like a maze down there.
