Who: Kitty and Bucky
Where: Kitchen
When: Horseshoe 17
What: Bucky checks on Kitty after feeling a wave of panic a few days ago. It's not as bad as he expects.
Warnings: Possible sad feelings later? But mostly lots of embarrassed feelings

The most recent wave of passengers who had disembarked the train left deep marks on many of those who remained. And while Kitty was also saddened by some of the people who were gone, she was more worried about others. She'd already run into some deeply-hurt friends, and after a while she realized that some of her downcast feelings weren't actually entirely her own.

She wanted to help, but there wasn't really much she could do. Still, she wanted to try something, even if it was just reaching out to let people know there was someone who still cared. And from her own experiences, baked goods were a pretty decent way of doing that.

She still wasn't the best at cooking or baking, but she wanted to think she had improved lately. Having a bit more practice couldn't hurt, though, which was why she was in the kitchen today, trying out a recipe for cupcakes she'd gotten. If these cupcakes turned out okay, then she could make more to give to people later.

Bucky wasn't too worried. The panic had been fairly short-lived, and he had caught a glimpse of her the day it had happened, but it still important to check up on her. Maybe it would distract him, too, from the loss he was still grappling with.

So he'd started at the back of the train and made his way towards the front, checking the cars for her. He was just starting to think she must be in her cabin when he poked his head into the kitchen car and caught sight of her. "There you are," he said lightly, coming over to watch her work. "I was starting to think you were hiding from me," he teased. "Are you okay?"

He lifted a brow at that, but manages a smile. "Is it?" he asks, not sure quite why he's feeling that little spike of embarrassment right now, though he figures it's likely coming from her. "Surely the cupcakes aren't that bad. They look good, at least. You forget the salt or something?"

"I never turn down home cooking," he replied with a little smile. "But you still haven't answered my question." He wasn't gonna let her worm out of it so easily.

"If it's not a big deal, why're you so reluctant to tell me?" He countered with a raised brow. "Tell you what, you tell me what it was that freaked you out, and I'll..." he considers for a few moments what he could offer that she might actually take him up on. Something that was a fair trade, at least. "I'll tell you the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me during a fight," he offers, since he's pretty sure her reason for holding back is also embarrassment.

"If I thought it was a promise I could keep, I'd make it, but... I can promise not to tease you for it," he offered with a sheepish grin.

He was right about not being able to keep his promise, he absolutely laughed, but at least it wasn't a mean laugh. "Jeeze. If I got attacked by a bug that size, I'd probably freak out, too," he conceded with a wide grin.
