Bright and early, Ichigo came to the medical car. He had a large thermos of coffee, and Shiro had a cardboard box with some cat toys to keep him busy. He'd even managed to get some of his pens back from Grimmjow. Setting up a stack of file folders, he opened the door to the first exam room and got ready.

"Good morning! Here for your check up?"

Having the octokid leap at him surprised Ichigo, but he managed to catch her. Laughing, he set her back on the exam table. "Well then, I think I can spare the rest of your tentacles from the test then. You certainly do have excellent reaction times, though."

The test thus concluded, Eight reforms herself back on the table. She smirks as she occasionally kicks out her feet.

"I could have told you that, but then it wouldn't make for a very good exam to trust my word, right?" She had to fight to survive, and was reasonably sure that her reflexes was fine.

"What's next?"

"Next is height and weight, so over to the scale if you please." Ichigo made sure to stand out of her way so she could get up. "This way I'll be able to make sure you're getting enough nutrition on the train. Are you fully grown by your world's standards or are you still growing?"

She follows obediently, getting on the scale. On closer inspection, she came out to around 4'11" and weighed around 66 lbs. Not having bones is certainly a way to lower your BMI!

"Mmm... mostly there, but I think I still have a few more centimeters in me."

"It's really okay, no need for a sorry." Trunks's lungs and heart all sounded healthy and in good shape. "What made you want to be a doctor?"

Ichigo recorded the measurements and smiled at Eight. "Alright, anything else you think I should have in your file? I've got the three hearts and the lack of a skeleton."

"Mmm..." She mentioned it a while ago, but maybe it bear repeating. "I think not using too much water should be on there too. If I get submerged I will get splatted."

Dead. She means that if she takes on too much water she'd be dead.

"Everything sounds good here." Ichigo commented, pulling the stethoscope away from Trunks' skin. "My Dad is a doctor, and he runs a clinic that's attached to our house. He opened it up before I was born, and I've just always wanted to be able to help people the way that he does. Do you have any career plans for your future?"

Oh that was a tricky question. "I...honestly, just want to have a future where everyone is at peace and not just surviving, but doing well." Reaching up, Trunks brushed his bangs out of his eyes. "My world has been under seige by two homicidal androids since I was about 6 months old or so. No one can really stop or stand up to them, except me now. My master, Gohan...died when I was 14. He did his best to stop them too."

Danny makes a face and tries to flatten his hair back down.

"They think all ghosts are odd manifestations of ectoplasmic energy and post human consciousness. And also evil. And that ghosts don't feel pain or have real feelings." A shrug. "But I'm working on it?According to the last survey, 65% of my city thinks I might not be entirely evil now?"

"Do you know how you react to isopropyl alcohol? It's also commonly called rubbing alcohol, and can be used to clean wounds in lieu of water if needed." It was an important reminder, so Ichigo made that note in Eight's file.

Eight knows what it is. Octarians were technologically and chemically advanced compared to their Inkling counterparts, and was familiar with even the technical names. "It stings against the skin, but unless I get too much of it it should be fine." She thinks for a moment. "And dries out fast enough that it is probably safer, yeah."

"Damn, that sounds like hell." Ichigo said softly, making a few quick notes in Trunks' file. "Over to the scale, shoes off. Please." More and more he was finding people who's lives made his sound downright easy.

Trunks undid his boots and slipped them off, padding over to the scale. "I'm...not actually from my world at the moment. The train pulled me from the same world, but a different timeline, and the past. I'm trying to help prevent mine from coming."

"You know that's not nearly as reassuring as you think it is, right?" Ichigo arched an eyebrow and shook his head a little. "To the scale with you, shoes off, please."

Ichigo made the note in her chart for it. "If you ever get hurt and I'm not the one cleaning your wounds, tell whoever it is to use rubbing alcohol instead of water. Just in case." Because in the aftermath of a mission, he couldn't promise that anyone would be checking files before cleaning and dressing injuries.

"I hope you can manage it. That kind of a future sounds pretty awful to be facing." Ichigo followed Trunks to the scale and lifted the arm that would measure his height. "Just stand up straight and hold still for a few seconds."

"It...won't help my time-line, but if I can get stronger, I can beat them. I know I can." Murmured almost to himself, a bit sadly, but with a lot of determination as Trunks did what Ichigo asked.

"I went back before, and warned them. At least they were better prepared than we were, and Goku is still alive..."

Jotting down the height and weight measurements, Ichigo put away the height bar and stepped away from the scale. "I'm sure you'll succeed. You're in excellent health, and you seem to be very strong."

Heading back over to his boots, Trunks took a seat to put 'em back on. "I hope you're right...thank you." As for the strong, it had him looking up with a hint of a grin on his face. "Blame the whole half-saiyan thing. They were a warrior race, so their base is already considered super-human compared to a normal human."

"So, anything else I need to know about for your medical history? Any extra organs? Allergies?"

[light_of_willpower]

"I think we went over most of it at the start of this appointment. No tail, and I'm not sure I ever had one. No allergies that I know of, I wasn't even really sick at all growing up. I have almost been killed before, a few times, but I heal from injuries pretty quickly. Whatever doesn't kill me just makes me stronger, right?" Trunks said that jokingly--and he doesn't know it, but for a saiyan and half-saiyan, that is literally true.

Ichigo snorted softly and shrugged. "In your world, that might really be the case, so I'm not ruling it out."

"It does mean I'm used to being a protector, and target. Better me than someone who can't fight back." Trunks murmured, reaching up and brushing his bangs aside. Trying to not let his thoughts go to a darker place. "I...at least amuse 17 and 18, even if I'm sure they could annihilate me. I'm SOME kind of challenge at least."

"I know that feeling way too well. Back home, I'm the strongest person I know, but I've never had time to really properly train. But it makes me a pretty big target, which can help protect the people around me, oddly."
