Bright and early, Ichigo came to the medical car. He had a large thermos of coffee, and Shiro had a cardboard box with some cat toys to keep him busy. He'd even managed to get some of his pens back from Grimmjow. Setting up a stack of file folders, he opened the door to the first exam room and got ready.

"Good morning! Here for your check up?"

"I see." Taking the cuff off of Danny's arm, Ichigo put the stethoscope on. "Next I'm going to listen to your lungs. I will want to do this in both your forms, just to see if I can hear your respiration in your ghost for."

"Okay?" Danny takes a moment to wonder whether he even has lungs as a ghost. He knew that he didn't actually need to breathe as a ghost. "Let me know when to change."

After several moments of listening to Danny's breathing and heart rate, Ichigo stepped back a little. "Go ahead and switch, please."

Danny grins and triggers the change, letting the rings of light pass over him as they change human to ghost.

Seeing the change take place, Ichigo shook his head with a smile. "Okay, I'm jealous. I still have to do something with my body when I go into my spirit form." And without Kon, it meant having to make sure his bed was either in his bunk or an empty room upstairs.

"Eh, it has its moments. I'd hate to think what my parents would do if I had to leave my body lying around somewhere every time a ghost attacked me in the middle of the day." He makes a face. "On the other hand it means that a lot of their anti-ghost tech reads me as a ghost even when I look human."

"Didn't you say your parents are ghost hunters? And thankfully I don't have to leave my body lying around back home. I have what's called a modsoul who can take care of my body for me." When Kon wasn't causing absolute chaos, of course.

[schrodingersghost]

"Ghost hunters,ghost scientists, anti-ghost weapon inventors. They still haven't figured why a lot of their anti-ghost tech goes off when I'm around."

Ichigo winced in sympathy. "Somehow, I gotta figure out a way for you to be able to get a distress signal to me when you get back home. That sounds way too dangerous of a situation to leave you in." He genuinely worried about the teen and what his parents would do.

"It isn't actually that bad? They're good parents. They just really hate ghosts." Danny offers this with a wince.He knew that wasn't much of a defense.

"And I'm mostly sure they wouldn't go through with the whole 'tear the ghost boy apart molecule by molecule and experiment on the remains' plan if they knew who I was?"

"The fact that you're not completely sure is what worries me." Ichigo frowned and put the end of the stethoscope to Danny's chest.

The center of Danny's chest was ice cold. There was no heartbeat, and the sound of his lungs had an odd way of disappearing whenever he wasn't actually taking a breath.

"...Okay, I guess that sounded bad. But, I mean, I don't think they'd try to actually experiment on me or shoot at me any more if they knew who I was?" Danny pauses awkwardly. "But... I'm kind of worried they'd think I was possessed by a ghost, or that they would try to cure me."

And he already knew that there was nothing to cure. But if they tried, and managed to rip the ghost out of him.....

He already knew how that ended. And how that could never be allowed to happen.

Ichigo was honestly not shocked that Danny had no heartbeat in his ghost form. "The fact that you're concerned they would hurt you at all is disconcerting to me. I mean, I might not have a lot of room to talk, my own father routinely attacks me. But he's not intending to cause harm. He does it to train me so I have stronger reflexes."

Danny shrugs, feeling a little awkward at the direction the conversation had taken. This wasn't something he talked about a lot.

"I don't like getting shot at or hearing them talk about the best way to experiment on me. But I guess I feel like I can't really blame them? They might think that Danny Phantom is a monster, but they also think that they're protecting humans from me." A grimace. "And its not like they're the only ones. My ex-girlfriend broke up with me so that she could protect me from me."

Sighing heavily, Ichigo just ruffled Danny's hair. "You know, you just keep staying at the top of my list of people who's worlds I need to go to so I can smack common sense into their guardians." It was a short list, containing Danny and Kitty, but that was beside the point. "They think your ghost form is scary? Shit, I can make you look friendly as a puppy."

Danny makes a face and tries to flatten his hair back down.

"They think all ghosts are odd manifestations of ectoplasmic energy and post human consciousness. And also evil. And that ghosts don't feel pain or have real feelings." A shrug. "But I'm working on it?According to the last survey, 65% of my city thinks I might not be entirely evil now?"

"You know that's not nearly as reassuring as you think it is, right?" Ichigo arched an eyebrow and shook his head a little. "To the scale with you, shoes off, please."

Danny simply phases through his boots, letting them fall off his feet before floating over to the scale.

"Hey, its a big improvement over being public ghost enemy #1."

"Still sounds like people are trying to hurt you." Which Ichigo didn't like, but it was something of an improvement. "Make sure you stand up straight, no slouching."

[schrodingersghost]

"Well, yeah." From his tone he'd thought that had been obvious. "I mean, I've got an entire government division after me, on top of the ghost hunters and the ghosts. But at least there's some people in town who like me now."

He rolls his eyes, but makes sure to straighten up.

Ichigo frowned at that but said nothing. Clearly this was normal for Danny, even if it did worry him a great deal. Yes, he himself had fought in a war and been hunted, but that had only been hollows after him. He knew just how hard it could be to try and act normal while juggling similar situations.
