What: Rei attempts to solve timelines, and also teach everyone how to play cards.

[Rei has, after the shock of the phantoms has settled down, been running around to get all of the other duelists in a room together. Some of them, she just has to lie to get them there, some of them, she just doesn't explain.

But when they're all gathered in the gym? Rei has Ronan's whiteboard.]

So, I know we're all from different timelines, but I want to figure out all the differences. Maybe there's something important in here, as to why it's only bringing in one person from each timeline. We should figure out what the points of divergence are in everyone's timeline, I think, to try to find some kind of clue. We can use Yugi's timeline as the 'prime' timeline, since he's the most important person in any timeline, it seems like...

[She's just going to draw a big line on the whiteboard and label it 'PRIME YUGI TIMELINE'.]

[After the time meeting, Rei is going to make a post on the network.]

I know no one should be alone right now, so does anyone want to learn how to play Duel Monsters? It's a super-popular card game from my world, and Kaiba has a bunch of cards here, so I can make decks for people interested in learning! I'll be in the gaming car for a while, so if you want to learn, go ahead and come there.

[True to her word, she's in the gaming card with Kaiba's huge briefcase full of cards. Did she ask before taking these cards? Absolutely not. But she's here to teach anyone who wants to learn, anyway.]

[ Ken is impressed, and slightly touched. She'd thought that seriously about what Wormmon had wanted. ] Thank you. That was fast.

If so, he will pick up the cards one by one and read them together with Wormmon. It's just as important that his partner sees them, after all. It was made to Wormmon's specifications.

Playing a deck that makes Wormmon happy probably wouldn't be bad. ]

I only had so many cards to work with, though... I went for high-defense stalling to combine with your deck destruction strategies. There's a few cards that will make your opponent draw, too, which will thin their deck our faster, but it will also give them some card advantage, so you'll have to be careful! It's a super-strategic deck.

[... So, yeah, she definitely put a lot of thought into it.]

[ Ken listens, though it's difficult. From context, he can make guesses, but - although they're still speaking the same language, she's doing things with the words he didn't think the words did. Jargon to simplify explanations among players...? The world is always full of new details.

Yet based on what's written on some of these cards, and the particular words she used -

He'd better make sure he's right. ]

In other words, you remove the opponent's resources while guarding yourself until their deck's exhausted.

[ It's an interesting way to win. Certainly it's a tactic that isn't possible (or at least not easy; "let's out-stamina the other team" doesn't tend to happen in collegiate sports) in soccer. The variety of cards available in this game really does give rise to possibilities.

Wormmon, though, is no longer looking at the cards. He is staring at Ken-chan with the same eyes Rei uses to stare at Judai, frankly. ]

Ken-chan, have you played Duel Monsters......?!

[ His partner can speak ANY language! Japanese! Spanish! English! Duel Monsterslish! ]

That's right. Dedicated decks can chew through an opponent's deck in just a few turns, though I couldn't make it that efficient. When a player runs out of cards in their deck and can't draw when they need to draw, they lose.

[Rei's just gonna...

Reach over. And. Pat Wormmon's head. You're an adorable worm friend.]

Intriguing. [ Ken can't help himself: the soccer player, the part that likes a challenge, smiles at the idea of a style of friendly competition that he wouldn't be able to use anywhere else.

And at how clearly this description of the deck means Rei took his preferences to heart. This is a deck full of Rei and Wormmon's feelings for him. He has to use it while properly treasuring those emotions. ]

I'll take good care of it.

[ That's not...an odd thing to say about cards, right? Is it?

Wormmon is not available for opinions because WORMMON IS GETTING PATS SO MANY PEOPLE PAT HIM ON THE TRAIN HE LIKES THE TRAIN. ]

[Rei nods. She likes him.]

Be sure you do. The cards have feelings, too.

[Not that that stops her from talking trash about some cards, but. It doesn't stop her from talking trash about some people, either. At least she's consistent?]

[ Chin up, Ken-chan. Even your deck is counting on you now!

Wormmon doesn't have to

share Ken-chan with the deck now, does he???? ]

Not at all! The cards are happy to duel. As long as you don't blame them for losing.

[Then things get... bad.]

Just do your best and they'll be happy.

[ Wormmon breaks out in a cold sweat. Ken-chan never, ever blames other people for things! In fact, a long time ago, Ken-chan used to blame HIMSELF for just about everything, even things he had no way of controlling!

If the cards find that out....

Ken looks around. ] Is everyone here learning?

[ This is - quite the crowd.

Wormmon gulps. Ken-chan is going to play...

RIGHT NOW???? ]

Well, I'm teaching everyone here. I can't say if they're learning, though.

[ Ken is the walking antithesis of trash talk. He does not know what to do with this. ]

Hey, Ken-chan, are you really going to learn right now? You got sat on by a ghost. You must be tired!
