"They say, a long long time ago, even before the years started counting upwards, sailors used to sail around the Greek Islands. It was a dangerous journey. Not only did they have to contend with the weather, and tumultuous waves but they say that if you passed by Anthemoessa that voyage could be your last." Senku spoke, trying to make it sound like he had a bit of an eerie tone, hoping to entertain and maybe delight her with the story.
"The rumour is that the sirens are women that could fly with big bird wings, sent by the goddess Demeter to find her daughter, but unable to do so, she condemned them to remain in the mortal world."
"Sometimes, you could pass by and nothing would happen, it would be an ordinary voyage. Other times though?" He paused dramatically. "Sometimes sailors would hear music. Really beautiful music, the most wonderful music they ever heard. Sailors would go mad then, they'd do anything to reach the origin point of that beautiful sound. Some would jump right off the deck into the ocean, disappearing into those depths never to be seen again."
Senku shook his head. "The rest of them, the Captain so entranced by the music would turn the ship towards the island, and end up shipwrecked. They say no one has ever heard that music and lived to tell the tale, and since no mortal has ever resisted the siren's song, to this very day you could attempt to pass by and meet your doom."
He may not have known actual horror stories, in the modern sense, but he he knew a ridiculous amount of mythology. He'd gone through a phase when he was younger.
