The room is dark…why aren’t the lights on? But as the doors fully open, a voice begins laughing darkly…

… although if you’ve ever heard the voice of Della Duck, you’ll recognize her immediately.

“Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”

Suddenly there’s a big THUD as someone drops from the ceiling, the lights flash on, and Della herself, dressed as a zombie – ripped apart clothes, fake blood here and there, drawn on scars - wiggles her fingers before laughing joyfully. “Happy Halloween, everybody! Let’s party!”

Tasty Treats

A big buffet table of candy and punch has been laid out! Mini chocolate bars and multi-colored lollipops, gummy worms and candy corn, all sorts of sweet and sour shenanigans, ghost-shaped cookies and mummy-looking muffins! There’s plenty to eat, with absolutely no healthy alternatives.

There are also small wrapped bags of candy with the letters “T.o.T” written on them. If someone tells you, “Trick or Treat!” you have to share your candy! Or keep it to yourself, you monster.

Haunted House

Thanks to Seto Kaiba’s projections, a neighboring carriage has been converted into a Haunted House! While it’s all a trick on the eyes, it gives the illusion that there are several floors of spookiness. Each floor has a different theme –

#1 Serial Seriousness – Every so often, a masked intruder pops out at you, with long claws or chainsaw, ready to give chase! Be careful, or you’ll be the next victim!

#2 Zombie Zaniness – Moans and groans of the undead can’t be unheard. Rotting arms will try to swipe at you through the floorboards!

#3 Ghostly Games – You can see through them, and they can see you too! Each mirror reflects a different dastardly demon!

#4 Deadly Doctors – In this hospital, it’s not the awful health insurance that’ll kill you! Beware the bloody nurses and their extra big needles!\

#5 Fishy Fears - … Wait, what? … Okay, this last floor was clearly designed by Della. It’s like Under the Sea, but with sharks and octopi and kraken - and Della insists this is the worst floor.

Feel free to have your characters braving the house, or trying to scare people within!

If being haunted isn’t your thing, nothing wrong with getting your groove on! Ask DJ Della what kind of song you’d like to play, and she’s happy to put on the list, from a classic Monster Mash to something more somber and soulful for you slow-dancing-romantic-vampire-types.

She is so confused. Zombies aren't part of her culture, not even as stories so she has no idea what these terrible arms are or why they are trying to grab her but she knows it isn't real and it is hilarious.

She is laughing hard as she dances through the zombie arms, kicking at them if they get close to grabbing her.

"Quick, be running before the weird arms do be getting you!" She called at the next person before joining in with the zombie noises.

His normally flat hair is parted and spiked outward, he's wearing a purple hoodie instead of his usual orange, and there's a soccer ball permanently attached to him, decorated to look like an eyeball.

He can be seen idly kicking the ball, inviting others to play...or just smiling and waving at the others. It's clearly an unnatural movement for him, but it's part of the act. ]

He already knew he enjoyed horrible horror movies as it was, so once he'd had enough of the revelry, he will park himself in the cinema to have a watch.

It wasn't a bad way to spend some time.

Look, sometimes one just needs to hang out in a visual illusion of underwater to unwind. S'reee keeps meaning to go back downstairs, but she wants to do so in human form to get the proper experience. Unfortunately, for humans who think all whales look alike, it might be hard to tell S'reee from the projections until you run into her. "Oh! Sorry!"

Xue Yang is very confused by this party. The idea that he should be scared of anything that the various haunted cars are trying to scare him with is preposterous. None of these dead are even remotely scary or look anything else the dead he was used to playing with. And so he gave up on the haunted house and went instead to the treat table. Because if there is something he can enjoy..it is candy.

He currently makes his way through the various types of treats on the table. Trying one of everything so he an see which of them is his favorite. And when he figures it out he will certainly be helping himself until someone tells him otherwise.

He doesn't know what he is watching, but his feet are propped up on the chair in front of him as he eats some popcorn. Their definition of zombies is very strange but he is watching it regardless. At one point he rolls his eyes as the 'hero' of the movie makes some rather dumb decisions about how to get away from the creatures chasing him.

"Does no one on this world understand the importance of having a sword when dealing with the dead?"

When Xue Yang gives up on the movie, which has done nothing but annoy him with how inept everyone in it is, he finds a random corner and simply settles in with a bag of candy to snack on while he watches everyone else.

Even without the literally chilly atmosphere from hidden Ghost-types, Eva looks impressed and more than willing to throw herself into it as she tackles the various floors. Mostly that just means lots of laughing and a few squeals as she ducks around or jumps over the various illusions.

It's painfully clear she's never carved a turnip before in her life, but it doesn't stop her from trying... Though hers is a sad-looking thing. "I think I'll stick to carving daikons..."

Eight had read about a celebration like this before. On her world, it was called "Splatoween" and would herald a very rambunctious splatfest. Unfortunately for her, she never had the opportunity to experience it, so she is living this moment.

She hasn't quite got the concept down though. Where she was supposed to get candy for saying "Trick or Treat," instead she is practically exclaiming "Trick or Treat" and handing out her own candy to other people.

Eight's heart is racing as she witnesses the aquatic sea life. To her, being underwater is like standing 10,000 feet into the air. But there was something about the scenery that she found... soothing. Terrified and awed in equal measure the girl is staring transfixed as the scene moves before her. Moving around and seeing all of this was like a dream. It... felt right. It felt natural.

"It's so beautiful..." She caught herself murmuring.

With quiet determination, Eight's focused intently on the turnip sitting before her. Her first attempt at this didn't come out very well, but she learned from her mistakes and is trying again. The trick was knowing the dimensions of the turnip and being slow and precise. Though it's taking her some time, her work is coming along...

Okay look. There are times for generosity, awe, and PRECISION OCTARIAN ENGINEERING... and sometimes an Octoling just wants to dance. Of everything here, the dancing reminded her very much of the Splatfests back home and she is going to let the music groove no matter what it is. Heck, she'll even want to share this, looking out for people who look like they could loosen up with a friendly, "Dance with me!"

That's not how medicine works! [ she huffs, frowning at the scene. ]

Alice found the previous floors surprisingly boring, but even though nothing in particular about this sight feels scary per se, it does unnerve her somewhat deep down. It touches a bit on memories she'd rather not think about, and so Alice feels a bit more relief than absolutely necessary when she hears Wen Qing's voice.

She steps over towards the other, folding her hands behind her back to keep them from shaking. ]

Here's Tidus going through the different carriages, dressed as...a kind of vampire, if switching the usual black for a white apparel. Popped collar, hair slicked back, and with a Duels Monster card sitting in his pocket square. He's got a clipboard too, and random belts on his arms and pants legs.

"Please tell me," he starts with the same suave businessman voice he's been carrying around with him, "how do you rate your Halloween experience? I will take the results back to the council and we will discuss thoroughly your feedback."

This is how you Kaiba, right.

He is absolutely going full ham on this cheesy talking as he holds onto one two of the candy bags. Are these normal bags of treats? Or as they filled with who-know-what?

Oh, Tidus is here for every one of the projections going off. Even if you're not with him, you might hear him mouthing about how "Nothing's gonna scare me!", "You think you're so tough!", and the occasional yelp when something actually pops out at him unexpectedly.

Feel free to bump him into looking ready (and quite happily) ready to fight a hologram, or in the middle of a scare. But he's just as happy to go over to someone he knows, beaming.

"Heeey, what you think about this, huh?! Scared of getting your next doctorly check-up?" Heheh!

Despite the answer being obvious, yes.

He really wants to figure it out before approaching the other, but when ten minutes pass and he still doesn't know, Inigo just gives up and walks up to him. He's not going to spend this whole party without Tidus just because he's an idiot who can't figure it out!

Like he isn't wearing an evil genie costume himself. That's not a blush on his cheeks because he's feeling a bit shy about it, it's clearly just the lighting, bro. Now spill the beans on what's up with that slicked back hair you've got there!

[ Kitty was glad that there were costumes being provided, because she hadn't had much luck making her own. Even better, she found what looked like a ghost bride dress, which was exactly the idea she'd wanted to try anyway.

So, after a bit of face paint to appear more ghoulish and a wig with long, white hair, she donned the costume and grinned. ]

[ While the zombie arms coming out of the ground reached out for passers-by, they didn't seem to be doing much other than that, and a quick step around them would be enough to pass them.

So people walking the floor might eventually feel relatively safe...until a ghostly white hand shoots up from the ground and grabs onto an ankle. ]

Dance Floor

[ When she wasn't busy trying to scare people in the Haunted House, Kitty was having fun dancing to music. She couldn't move as she usually did in fear of the wig falling off, but on the plus side the skirt of the dress was fun to spin in. ]

[ While she doesn't go for too much of the candy, Kitty's fine with eating a muffin. And some of the cookies. And maybe a bit of chocolate here and there.

[ He isn't a dancer, at least he's pretty sure he's not a dancer, but if he sits against the wall and watch other people enjoy dancing out of the way he gets the benefit of listening to the music.

Music is nice in a way that's nostalgic, not that he was a huge fan of it before, and look he's a good sport he's got a fox tail and ears on his head, he's even tied his hair back out of the way.

Senku is just the awkward type who sits in the corner while everyone else parties. If he catches her eye, he'll offer a bit of a wave. ]

Takato was busily working on a red shirt he'd managed to find, gluing on black triangles cut out of construction paper onto the shirt in a very familiar pattern.

Meanwhile Guilmon had managed to squirm his way into a blue shirt that was only a little small and was proudly wearing a pair of goggles on his head.

Takato and Guilmon arrived at the party, dressed up as each other. Guilmon was wearing a blue shirt and yellow goggles, while Takato was wearing a red shirt that had black triangles glued to it in mimicry of Guilmon's markings.Around his head he'd tied a band of red cloth that were holding on replicas of Guilmon's ears.

And no surprise, they headed straight for the food. Guilmon immediately began pulling Takato over to each plate of food and asking for explanations on what which item was.

As with most things, Meng Yao finds himself being...competitive. With his turnip. He carves intricate little faces with a small knife and sets them on display with a pleased smile. Before long, some of the faces might be recognizable. Oh is that Wei Wuxian? Huaisang? Lan Xichen?

He, like most from his world, is amazed at the moving pictures. Meng Yao claims a seat with a bucket of popcorn and makes himself comfortable. It will take a lot to scare him, though, if necessary, he can act scared very well.

Only for Meng Yao's appearance to startle him into sitting up and looking him over with bemusement. He reaches up to lightly touch those ears, then the braids.

Dance Floor

As one might expect of an athlete, Cassie is as quick on her feet on the dance floor as she is everywhere else. She might even show off by floating in the air and cutting a rug on the walls.

Elder Gods help you if she decides to sing along, though. She can't carry a tune in a bucket.

Movie Mania

Cassie is absolutely willing to wisecrack over a movie. Particularly this low-rent slasher about Blason Boorhees terrorizing the counselors of Pistol Lake with his trademark pickaxe and umpire's mask.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Cassie's learned a thing or two from her dad about how to spin a yarn. Maybe she'll tell a modified, somewhat less traumatizing version of her real adventures. Maybe she'll tell one of the old standbys, like Bloody Mary or the Golden Arm.

Or, if you're very, very unlucky, she might end up wasting twenty minutes of your time with that blue golf ball joke her dad used to tell her. She's full of surprises that way.

Sonya would have to give Cassie some credit; her acting ability might just be on some par with Johnny, but she was certainly better at story telling than he was.

She sat near the circle, not part of it, grinning as Cassie told one of her stories. Perhaps it was one she experienced, or was new, but there was something novel about her experiences being told as entertainment; certainly had more dignity to it than being used as movie fodder.

Nerdanel wanders in, still a little more pale than her normal, and stops short, blinking in confusion.

Mingjue is just as confused, but he's been dressed up like a wolf, complete with ears, a tail, and black paint on his nose. His purple uniform has been exchanged for robes close to his usual greys, though less well made.

Coming across her does, still, have him smile a little and he approaches. He nods in greeting before glancing around at the table with what he assumes is food. "Is this as unusual to you as it is to me?"

That's nice, in theory; in practice, Zelda's hand moves to her belt to retrieve her ocarina the moment she sees something in bandages. And the song that rings out g is almost defiantly bright and cheery... but it doesn't do anything.]

I Put A Spell On You
Minako unlike others was able to use her compact to always have a costume on hand. This time she had used to for a witches costume. Short skirted, but it came with a witches hat and underneath the black dress had a little bit of orange.

So with the costume, Minako figured she was at least going to have a little bit of fun with it. Maybe drum up a few scares. So with a smile she made her around, on occasion sneaking up behind some people and giving off the best cackle that she could muster.

"Hello, my pretty. Shall you become my next victim?"

When Minako wasn't busy having fun here, there and everywhere, she can be found getting a few treats to nibble on. It had been so long she just couldn't help herself.

Turnip Carving
This didn't seem all that hard? You just make shapes in the thing. Well as soon as the young blonde started she realised that it was in fact pretty hard.

If anyone were to pay attention to what she was doing... they wouldn't be able to tell.

Dance Floor
Minako was dancing up a storm enjoying the dancing and on the odd occasion was even singing whatever song happened to be on. In some cases maybe making up the lyrics when she wasn't sure what was doing said.

When she spots someone she will excitedly wave and gestures for the other to come over.

By the tone of Nita's voice, she very much isn't - and Nita herself is (nominally) dressed as a tree, with green hooded tunic and brown leggings.

Picking out a costume
Allen figured he might as well attempt to have some fun with this, even if the point was to be scary.

But he was looking around at what was on offer, somewhat deep in thought before he spoke out loud.

"What would be the best costume to wear?"

I. Costumes

Masquerades weren't really Reno's thing but he'd been to a few wild and strange raves in his day. A costume party wasn't the worst way to spend his day. He didn't like any of the cutesy outfits he kept finding among the train's selection though hopefully no one saw him pause over the red cat ears and tail and give a little "nyah" for his own amusement. He quickly set those aside.

In the end, whether or not he tried on a few other costumes in front of people or not, he picked out something that he recognized from his own world. He scampered off to his cabin to finish putting on all the extra touches since there was very little to actually wear besides the cloth around the waist and horns on his head. He ended up painting fiery markings over his body and putting spikes on his shoulders, claws on his hands and feet. He even let his hair loose in the back and styled the front with appropriate decorations. He was surprisingly good with paint and make-up to fix the costume just right to look like the legendary summon Ifrit from his own world. Then he went out to enjoy every moment of showing off his (assets and) work to everyone.

II. Tasty Treats

Reno found the bags of candy early on in the day. He had a bit of a sweet tooth to be perfectly honest and regularly liked to order the candy bag from the train shop when he had extra points. This was great for him. Then again, free shit was always great.

Someone should probably take a moment to (re-)explain to him the "rules" of the day though because he's mostly ignoring anyone that says the words "trick or treat" and giving them odd looks like he thinks they're crazy. (He perfectly well knows the rules that were explained but that's Reno for you.) Every once in a while he'll pick out his least favorite candy and toss it at someone because that's just how he is. Why give perfectly good candy away to someone just for saying a silly little phrase?

III. Haunted House

He went through the whole thing once by himself (though with a group of people nearby so he could laugh at them for being scared). Other than a few inevitable jumpscares that got his reflexes going on instinct, he managed to make it through the entire thing almost as if he were strolling through a lovely park. A grin on his face and a giggle on his lips for all the cheesy scare tactics. (Honestly, he enjoyed it, he just wasn't much scared of anything here.) He spent more time egging on the group of people going through at the same time and laughing at their misery than anything else.

But it was fun for that reason. So, he ended up setting up a jumpscare of his own near the mirrors. His outfit was basically a fire demon so it matched with a few of the other devil types reflected there. Except, of course, he wasn't actually just a reflection in a mirror and whenever someone got too close he would reach out and grab them. Sometimes he acted like he was going to pull them into the mirror, other times he simply roared and bared his teeth and claws. If a scare was too successful then he ended up laughing his ass off at the person he managed to scare.

Well. At least he was having fun? Even if it was at the expense of others.

IV. Scary Stories

Later, he ended up in the carriage set out to be dark and spooky with candles. At first he seemed confused by the simple setting but he quickly found it amusing that this was, essentially, meant to be scary campfire story time. He sat and ate candy as he listened to a few stories.

Ask him to tell one of his own, however, and he might actually tell the tale of the haunted Train Graveyard!

V. Movies

By the end of the night Reno made his way to the movie theater to settle down before calling it a night. Except--it was too good an opportunity. People sitting in the dark, tense from the suspense in the movie they were watching... he had to get in one last good scare for the night. He waited for the perfect moment to align with a scare from the movie. It wasn't that hard to predict with the music and scene development honestly.

Then he popped out of the darkness with a hushed roar and his demon claws spread as if to get someone. It was the theme of the night, right.

Haunted House

Najaran.... had somehow wound up in the dressing car before she noticed any of the... festivities. Don't ask how, you'll just give yourself a headache. Some of it was being half asleep after a night full of bad dreams, some was just being, well.. Najaran. So when she realized she was in the dressing carriage... that she could be in it.... that it was full of clothes... she ran out into a panic, sure they had a mission and she was late. So of course she wasn't running to the ICP, she was running for the kitchen to pack up mission snacks!

She wound up in the haunted house, not paying attention to anything but the signs that pointed her towards the kitchen when someone with long claws popped out at her. She screamed and swung Goligan right through them. And yet they still advanced.

Her familiarity with holograms was... extremely limited. To one person on the train showing her once. So she came to the reasonable conclusion of "Gh... GHOSTS?!"

"I do not know that those claws will prove as insubstantial as his midsection, lady Najaran," Goligan said, wide eyed.

She stumbled back. "Wh...what does that mean?"

"I think he can hurt us even if we can't hurt him!"

Another "killer" popped up behind her. Two screams issued. The higher pitched one that sounded like a little girl was totally Najaran, not her walking stick, right....?


Turnip carving
After someone rescued her - and kept her from using her cards to destroy the holograms - she found the turnip carving. It started out fine. It went down hill, rapidly. She got frustrated with the provided knives so summoned a longsword from a card. But of course while that hard a sharp enough edge, it lacked the dexterity for anything other than slashing and stabbing given the distance between her and the table. From there she went to ripping the turnips with her teeth like a mad beast in frustration. and yes, eating them raw.

Feel free to interrupt her at any point in this process. The life you save might be her own.


Tasty treats
Someone finally showed her the candy table. She'll be here, happily working her way through all the yummy new foods. Every frustration about the haunted house and the turnips are forgotten and forgiven as she gushes over all the new tastes.
