The first real sensation he feels again is a foot suddenly coming down on his own foot - hard - and that's exactly what pulls that scream out of him.
Inigo lets go of Tidus, falling backwards onto the floor. The projected spooky ghost hands still try to swipe, though the projections are just going straight through him now as he's lying there, eyes closed.
