If Inigo hadn't - at least partially - caused this whole thing, it'd kind of feel like watching a trainwreck, as he's standing here and watching Roland approach Tidus, put those ears on his head and talk to him. But no, it's more like Inigo is the person who pushed this train off the rails to begin with, hence why he's staring kind of guiltily as the other two start to speak. It's not even like he could've helped it! It was just an accident! But.. still, it doesn't feel right to see Tidus so down and sulky, okay.
