Hey look, it's a Tony log

Who: Tony and OTA
Where: Kitchen/ Dining car
When: Bassoon 4-ish
What: Tony's cooking meals, making treats, and generally trying to keep himself busy
Warnings: Irreverence and Language? The usual.

The last team had done a respectable job in the kitchen. He'd had few complaints during the last month. However, between himself and the rest of the red team, especially Feanor, people were going to be very well fed this month.

Even though there were plenty of cooks in this kitchen for the month, this particular day Tony had taken over the kitchen. He was only sort of sticking to the recipes he'd been given, preferring to use his own or make them up as he went (shocking, I know). Currently he had three dishes he was working on at once. He had some salmon he was curing to make lox, some gummy candy he was making, and the main dish for the evening meal- whole roasted salmon with herbs and farfalle pasta with asparagus and tomatoes. Thanks to Evie and Feanor, they also had sourdough bread to go along with it and a fancy Elvish dessert.

Off to one side, he had an eggplant out, ready to fix for certain individuals who saw fish and fled in terror.

"Not that I've been able to see," Tony answers with a frown. "I'm getting really sick of these clothes too. The last stop didn't have a whole lot of new things we could get for the train that was helpful." And the things that were, he had to steal.

"Maybe you should start thinking about it." He nods at the baking sheet with the seasoned eggplant on it and sticks it in the oven. "Well, that's not going to take too long to finish. Are you so scared of fish that if someone is having it next to you, you'll freak?"

"Ugh." He opinions. "Purple is soooo not my color. Is there a way to earn cash?"

He watches Tony curiously and twitches all over at the mention.

"If you don't.... mention what you're eating and it doesn't... you know. Look like a... a... f-finny thing it's fine."

"Here? Sort of. If you look on the ICP on the roster, you'll see everyone has a certain amount of team points. Those gradually go up. When we last went on a mission we also received a number of them for that too. Real money though, we don't have that here." He shot Kaito a devious grin. "Of course there's always bartering favors."

As the young man starts to squirm and get uncomfortable with the idea of the fish, Tony had to laugh. "It might be wise for you to eat your dinner in here and leave before the main course is ready for everyone else.

He laughs. "Barter, eh? Well, that makes sense if we have no real money." He nods his understanding. "So we need to work as a team, in order to earn points?"

He flashes him a thankful grin.

"I probably should, yeah." No need to give Edogawa even more ammunition.

"Well.. that or simply achieve your team's goals. We were given a list of those goals last time we were on a mission. Is there anything in particular you're needing?" He wouldn't normally offer- well and technically even asking wasn't exactly offering- but he might for Kaito. He liked the boy, after all.

"What would you like to drink with it? I have some iced tea or water with some berries in it.."

"Ingredients to make smoke bombs?" He says wistfully and then shrugs and grins. "Not really, beyond prank material or stuff for a magic show, if I'm being honest. I'll just have to work hard and keep my eyes open!"

Smoke bombs, huh? He thought for a moment.

"We really only need potassium nitrate and we could make those. It's a food preservative sometimes or in fertilizer as well the obvious gun powder." Where could they get that chemical? Could they make that chemical? Yes, but what if.. "Get Peter's help on making potassium nitrate. He could use the chemistry practice."

He sat up sharply. "Actually you can also make smoke bombs out of ping pong balls. Not the plastic ones but the original kind. If you can find a few of those, I can show you how to make them."

He lights up.

"You serious? I was half joking, you know. I can live without prank material."

Tony grins, pleased he could make that smile on Kaito's face happen.

"Sure, how much trouble can you get in with smoke bombs?" Famous last words. "You seem smart enough to know when it might hurt someone. And your name isn't Peter Parker, so I doubt your luck is so bad that you could make us all go blind by touching a smoke bomb."

He grins.

"Well that depends on how much I can get away with~"

He laughs. "I've been working with smoke bombs for a few years now. Got my own formula for colored smoke and everything."

Tony laughed and shook his head. "No! When you're weaseling an adult into making smoke bombs with you, you don't say what you can get away with. You lie and pretend this is just for your act. Don't they teach you kids anything in school?"

He wondered how many ping pong balls were in that large storage room. If there were only one or two then this wasn't going to work. He'd need the other chemical. "You'd better not tell anyone I'm helping you." He smirked, fairly sure the kid would rat him out the minute things got hot.

He flutters his eyes innocently.

"Who me? What did I just say? Gosh, I'm suffering a sudden lapse in short-term memory~"

"Attaboy!" Tony laughed. "Now could you please go teach my k- Peter, how to do that?"

He sliced up a mango and offered a piece to Kaito before popping a bite in his mouth. "Have you heard anything of interest lately?"

"You sure he's not yours?" Kaito accepts the bite.

"I mean, sure, I can try. But if someone can't bluff, they can't bluff. First rule of magic etc etc." He shrugs. "Define 'of interest' - nothing that I would consider interesting, anyway. Unless you count that Luke freaking Skywalker is my bunkmate."

"He's my something. I don't know what though." He chuckled.

The rest of that got him laughing too, especially the remark on Luke. "He's an interesting fellow in person, isn't he? Have you tried to talk to him much?"

"A little. I should talk more, I think. He seems nice! I wonder if he'll teach me how to use a lightsaber if I ask...."

"It was pretty cool. He used the Force to float some stuff around here and he gets squimish about cursing. It's hilarious."

Tony pulled the eggplant out of the oven. A few moments later it was dressed and on the plate, with a few of the sides he'd made. "Alright, hurry up and eat. I have something very scary coming out of the oven in about.. seven minutes."

"He's been a good roommate too." Kaito nods. "Hasn't used Force-powers around us much, but... it's like having a senior around to keep an eye on you. I like him!"

He shudders and grins, reaching for the plate.

"Itadakimasu!" He then proceeds to do the teenage superpowered inhaling of food.

"Itadakimasu," Tony answered, with a friendly nod of his head. That was the closest he'd ever get to bowing. He was going to ask if Kaito needed anything like more salt but instead he just stared at the teenager seemed to unhinge his jaw to cram everything in his mouth that fast. Even with knowing Peter as well as he did, the speed at which kids that age could eat was still impressive.. and a little disgusting.

"Could you even tell if you were eating food versus a wharf rat at that speed?"

Kaito swallows and grins at him.

"I'm hungry!"

Tony chuckled and just shook his head. He'll remember that the next time he felt like putting too much effort into a meal! (Which he still will put that effort in since he really like Kaito).

Whenever the food is completely gone, he takes the plate and sets it aside for someone else on his team to clean- he cooked, which meant he shouldn't have to do it. True to his word, he didn't take the fish out until after the fish-phob was out of the room.

"I'll wash up." Kaito offers.

"Since you cooked it specifically for me."
