Birthday Prep! (OTA except Senku)

Setting up food!

Plenty of people have offered to bring a number of treats - cookies, savory dishes, snacks ... Gen was placing a half-sheet cake, decorated with planets and with 'Happy Birthday Senku' written in frosting on the table. He looked quite pleased with himself, and would help lend a hand with other food.

Setting up decorations!

There were roughly a hundred origami stars to fold, which Gen would spend most of his time doing, especially if he didn't have any help. But after, he'd be stringing them up all around the dining car, creating an effect like a starry sky from the ceiling.

Setting up party favors!

Then, of course, there were paper flower crowns to fold. Gen had no idea how many people would end up coming, so he wanted a fair number - any extras could sit in the Arms Band or up his sleeves as part of a surprise to spring on people later. You never knew when you needed a paper flower crown!

Setting up the escape room!

This is really what Gen hoped he'd get the most help with. He only had so many math tricks up his sleeve, and he was very certain that Senku knew them all already. At least Nita would be lending a hand! Otherwise, Gen was sure any room he'd make, Senku would solve in minutes.

BIRTHDAY PARTY

Greetings!

Gen would greet the newcomer with a bright smile and an origami flower crown - placed right on their head! He'd direct them to the food, and let them know of the escape room upstairs. Have a lovely time!

Food!

Cake! Cookies! Popcorn! There's some spicy, savory food that's been made by other passengers, too. But hey, at least take a slice of cake. That's what this party's all about!

Escape Room!

Featuring math, puns, and clever little questions fellow Voidtrain passengers could come up with. Of course, anyone can enter and leave as they'd like, but perhaps if they look particularly stuck on a problem, another person could help them out?

Birthday Boy!

Somewhere in this mess, Senku would be available to chat with. Probably. He's not really expecting a party, or gifts, or even a kind thank you - but all would be appreciated.

"I wanted to," Tidus insists. "The birthday's just a good excuse for it! But I hope you like them. You'll have to tell me if they're any good."

Which Tidus is hoping won't be decided any time soon (it's three books, Senku!! - a point Tidus knows may not mean much...), but he is here to see any reactions. Crossing his fingers mentally, here!

He blushed lightly at the thought that Tidus wanted to give him some kind of present because that was the opposite of how things worked in his head anyway. He was supposed to be giving other people things, right?

The first book he unwrapped was called Exploring Space and he can't help but turn it over to read the summary.

"Oh, fascinating..." Senku said, looking thoughtful. It was about a whole planet and presumably star system he didn't know which was inherently interesting.

Tidus notices the title (upside down), skimming his memory for which that was. Oh yeah, that should be-

"That's the not-earth book, right?" Don't mind the birthday spoilers. "I remember you telling me you were interested in going space yourself - y'know, before all the stuff happened. Figured you'd like a book about other people going out there too, in different parts of it. That one goes on forever."

He remembers practically zilch from his quick flip through, other than a picture here and there.

"It looks really interesting." Senku confirmed. "I love learning new things." He grinned and set it aside so he could open the next one.

This one was the one that was about Earth and his expression softened a bit. How nostalgic.
blitzcheer: (no promises there)

"Maybe you'll get some ideas of your own! Who knows - first the moon, and then where? I hear some people like to just live out on floating cities in space! You got time to make one of those back home?"

He's joking, but now that he's thinking about them, he wonders if Senku world did have those. Just for a moment. But then, he does remember the guy's goal being the moon one day - just to deal with whoever's up there.
10billionpercent: (This Is So Exciting)

"Mars, maybe." Senku chuckled. "There was speculation that a person could go there, but hard to say really. I'd have to build a lot to get to that point."

Then again, never say never. "Ah, we didn't have that." He shook his head. "We did have the International Space Station. It was used mostly for space experiments. My dad was there when the whole thing happened. It was like a base up in space, but not like a city. Way more cramped than that."
blitzcheer: (whoa woah hey heyyy)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-10 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Mars? Mars, Mars...

"Oh-" He snaps his fingers. "Did we talk about that planet before? There was another guy... oh yeah." It's coming to him. "They're trying to do terraforming on that planet. Make it habitable to grow stuff on?"

Did that make any sense to Senku?
10billionpercent: (Neutral)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2021-01-11 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, that's right, Zechs." Senku supplied. "We didn't talk about it, but I spoke to him when he was taking questions, fascinating subject that. Do you know how hard it is to terraform another planet?"
blitzcheer: (whatcha gonna do about iiitt)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-11 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't even know what t-forming was 'til he mentioned it!" Tidus admits readily. Terra-whatting. "What's he got to do? Fix up the soil?"

Soil totally sounds important to growing things in places.
10billionpercent: (Ha Ha)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2021-01-12 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Senku chuckled lightly. "Yes, among other things. Also, dealing with atmosphere, gravity, temperature just to name a few things. To make an uninhabitable planet habitable takes a lot of work and technology. It's interesting."
blitzcheer: (something blah ugh words)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-13 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not the worse thing to do with your time if you know what you're doing," Tidus can agree, at least that far.

"Might be a while 'til you guys can get to it though, huh? But hey, if there's someone on the moon.. they got to have some kind of system up there, right? Even if it's just a station. I hear the moon isn't that lively."
10billionpercent: (Huh?)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2021-01-13 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's a good question. There must be something there." Senku admitted. "But I don't know what it is. It could just be a computer. It sounds like a computer. That's why we need to go up there and see, which makes it a real challenge."
blitzcheer: (who needs an old man?)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-14 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"You'll get there," Tidus says. "No problem. It's just going to take a while - and what's a few years or more to a guy like you?"

He adds a grin with it, sure and confident.

"Just be careful if it tries zapping you a second time. How do you think it found you in the first place? Did it just happen?"

Did Senku tell him...? Doesn't help that his own brain is reminding him of a people finder back in Spira...
10billionpercent: (I am a science nerd)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2021-01-14 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose you have a point, considering, I'm practically ancient at this point." Senku said with an amused chuckle.

"I got lucky to avoid being petrified a second time, but Gen wasn't so lucky." So if Tidus wanted to ask about that, he could find Gen. It was like it happened the first time in the end.

"I don't know. Depends on what the point of the petrification was." Senku admitted. "What I do know, is that it got the entire planet in one shot, and it originated in South America, which is on the other side of the world to me."
blitzcheer: (woah u look like a tree)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-16 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sheesh, all the way other there?" Even if where Senku was and this other place was connected by land, that'd be a trip and a half to reach. And what would Senku do even once he got there? Well, he likely would have some kind of plan, but...

"You think that's the same one that started everything off in the first place? So someone in this South America had some problem, or..."

Or who knows? Why do you petrify an entire world?

"The second incident was short range, we got the weapon out of it and it was much closer to home. It leads to a lot of questions too, but the big one is just on the other side of the world. Gonna take us awhile to get there. We're going, obviously."
