Who: Tony and Ignis; Tony and OTA
When: Basoon 14
Where: Medical car
What: Recovering from being a Big Hero™
Warnings: Language likely
After Tony passed out upon arriving in the luggage carriage, he remained unconscious for the duration of Basoon 13.
[Waking Up: For Ignis]
It was midway through Basoon 14 when Tony slowly became aware of himself again. He groaned softly as the first thing he noticed was how sore his whole body was. It wasn't the feeling of intense pain that he'd had before, but it was noticeably uncomfortable. He had a bad taste in his mouth and it felt like his eyelids weighed three tons each. He went still for a few minutes before trying again. This time he managed to open his eyes, but immediately regretted it. The light was blindingly bright and he winced in pain from it. A few moments of blinking at it, his vision gradually cleared enough he could make out a general blob shaped thing might be a person and this bed didn't feel like a bunk.
[OTA: Come Visit Him!]
Following the initial wake up, Tony alternated between napping and generally being bored stuck in the medical room. His strength was slowly coming back to him. Obviously the best cure for his condition is a bunch of people to come visit and annoy him.
[Another for Ignis, Basoon 15]
It was later in the day than Tony normally got up and moving, but at least he was up and moving today. He'd let other members of his team deal with the breakfast crowd, but lunch had been salmon burgers, sweet potato fries, and a cucumber herb salad with crumbled feta cheese. He might have even impressed some people (no one in particular, just people).
However, all that was over and now it was dishes. He usually left these for the rest of his team to deal with but.. hell, he didn't need a reason. So he was elbow's deep in hot, sudsy water and pretending to not know a certain person was very likely to come in and join him.

"But it's fine cause we made it back and all-still didn't get the answers I wanted and the goblins were all hella rude because they refused to talk to me. They could talk-I know they could because I head them muttering about stuff."

When Peter almost gets to the door, he adds, "Oh.. Peter? Almost forgot. Your ass is grounded, kid. No video games for two days."
no subject
"Yeah, Okay Mr Stark, see later." He starts for the door once he's dismissed, thinking that he somehow dodged that bullet. Except.
"What!? Grounded!?" For two days!? He-he can handle that, right? Just two days. That's nothing. Probably.
Whatever, he doesn't stop to wait and see if his outburst makes it worse and just heads out the door to find something else to do. Not video games, apparently.

There's a smirk on his face and in his tone as he levels a knowing gaze at the older man. As for being grounded, he's been there with all the times that he snuck Noctis out of the Citadel at the prince's insistence on star gazing. Ignis had tried to talk the boy out of it, but in the end he always gave into Noct. Always.
He went over and picked up Peter's abandoned tea cup and looked back at Tony. "I do have one question however from your conversation. What exactly is an Avenger?"
no subject
He rolled his eyes and laid back against the pillow at Ignis' remark. Except.. "He's not actually my kid. You know that right?" He'd happily claim him but it seemed only right to clarify there was a weird dynamic going on here. "And I have no idea what you're talking about.."
"An Avenger?" Oh wow. First Christmas and now an Avenger. Ignis just had to keep asking the big questions, didn't he?
"The Avengers are a group of specially skilled individuals who have dedicated their lives to protecting our world- well universe. It started off as our world until we discovered the other worlds.. anyway, I'm one of the founding members as Iron Man and I dubbed Peter one shortly after our first run in with Thanos. If I remember correctly, in his timeline, I just did so. In mine, of course, is five years later than his. But, he goes by the name of Spider-Man. He has a suit, equipment, everything but none of that was brought here. Back home to protect his aunt and his friends, his identity isn't know. People only know that he's an intern at my company." He paused and gave Ignis a bit of a smile. "The man I told you that you remind me of was part of that team."
no subject
Sitting down, Ignis set the abandoned tea cup down and listened about the Avengers. No wonder Tony had taken up the leader role here since it was something he was used to. But there were no interruptions and he saved his questions for afterwards. "Iron Man and secret identities, I see. Is that what you call yourself in that suit of armor?"
When Tony mentioned the man that Ignis reminded him of, his eyes fixed on the other. To him it sounded like there was a crush but he didn't voice that out loud. "His name was Steve correct? The one you called a hero.." Ignis put his head down slightly, recalling their conversation.
Lifting it back up there was a smile as he asked his next question. "I don't suppose you consider yourself a hero now after rescuing me?"
no subject
"Yes, although everyone know who I am. I had no one to protect when I came public. I was Tony Stark billionaire first, then Iron Man, then an Avenger." It was so complicated thinking about who the Avengers were and who they should've been. He still regretted the split, but not the cause. It was painful and yet the most proud thing he'd ever done. Funny how it could be both of those things all at once. He nodded, no pride, no humor on his face as he thought about his old friend. "Yes. His name was Captain America.. I believe I told you that once before. He was.. 'created' by a team of researchers and my father. He was supposed to be the one man army and he very literally was." Tony couldn't help admire him for it. He would've stayed a united front to the end with that man if only it had been reciprocated.
It took a moment for his attention to return to Ignis and he gave a huff of a laugh with no mirth. "No. Not with so much blood on my hands. No, I'd just call it doing my job."
no subject
A small sad smile came over his face as he heard about Tony's friend. This only served to add to his theory but he wasn't going to ask anything personal and so he'd withheld his comments. The sad smile brightened a little at hearing about the older man not considering himself a hero.
"You view the rescue as you just doing your job. So I'm a job to you now is that how it works?" If that was so, Ignis was more determined than ever to never be in that predicament again. And of course there were already plans to train even harder now though the fall had been due to the collapse of the structure itself.
no subject
It was difficult to pull back from those dark thoughts, but referring to himself as a 'job' did the trick. "What? No! I didn't mean it like that!" Tony scowled. He could easily hear in his own ears how it might have been taken that way but the remark left him flustered.
no subject
There was no heat to his words, but really Ignis was going to get to the bottom of this. "And the other man you refer to a hero, surely he has blood on his hands, yet you still give him that title, do you not? So please do explain the difference if you would be so kind."
no subject
"I haven't, but I see your point. I don't mean to belittle your feelings, but you don't have all the facts. Yes, I've done some good in my world and here, but it isn't enough to make up for my mistakes. Steve does have some blood on his hands too, but not on the scale I do." Although, the man did destroy a building full of innocent people. How many did Tony destroy? He didn't even know.
"Why don't you go after Peter and ask him about Ultron and how I am responsible for murdering a country of innocent people?" It was his single biggest failure and it didn't seem right having any opportunity to downplay what he'd done by telling the story himself. He knew himself. He'd give himself far too much credit- or so he assumed. "I was responsible for making a system to protect our world from other planets. It was meant to be a defense system.. it backfired." Badly.
no subject
By the end of the story, Ignis closed his eyes absorbing what he'd heard. Tony felt terrible about what had happened, that much was certain. The advisor couldn't condone killing an entire country full of innocents, but it brought Peter and the train's recent battle to mind. "So Peter risks Buttercup, yet they both come back alive and you punished him for it when it was a mistake." That seemed pretty damn tame to what he was hearing here. There was no judgement in his tone and he moved closer to Tony, sitting on the bed next to the man.
"By your tone I know you that you regret your mistake and you wouldn't do it again." Green eyes searched Tony's. "And I know better than to tell you to forgive yourself. But you're still a hero in my eyes."
no subject
It throws him off completely when Ignis remarked on the comparison between his actions and Peter's. "It's.. I want him to take time to think about what he does before he does it. I'm not wanting him to be like me. I need him to be better than me. Yes, this time things worked out and I would've done the exact same thing he had. But it's also my issue I have with your team. We have the resources to back you up and him up to the point he isn't going into a portal alone with an eleven year old kid. Eva thinks I'm crazy.. but I don't consider an eleven year old capable of being proper backup- especially to another kid. So, him being grounded- and in my defense, it's a really light punishment- it's about his decision not to get someone who could assist him and instead he brought someone who was more vulnerable than he was."
He shakes his head though. "If I had known what was coming to my world with Thanos, I would never have stopped trying to build the world defense system even with Ultron's failure. We were completely outmatched and exactly half our population was wiped out in a matter of minutes. Peter doesn't know, but he's one of the ones who had been killed. It's barely an hour later than when I believe he's from. We bring them back during this last battle, right before I came here, but. They've been gone for five years and they can't get that back." He still didn't know if it was even possible to build a defense that would've kept Thanos out, but he should've kept trying. Sacrificing a country for their whole world.. no, that was the wrong mindset. In the face of making the call, could he have really taken the rist to make a second Ultron?
All of that internal warfare came to a screeching halt at Ignis' words. He had expected the part about being told to forgive himself, so he was a bit thrown hearing Ignis wasn't going to even try that. But the last part? After hearing what he'd done? It cut through so deeply and quickly, he barely knew what hit him. He was also kidding himself if he thought he wasn't a hero to Peter. And Morgan. And Pepper.. sort of.
"Thank you." No smirk. No sass. Just gratitude.

A thought occurred. "Maybe you should get Buttercup's take on things, it couldn't hurt to ask her would it? That way you might have a clearer picture of all of the events from everyone's point of view that was involved." He was still lobbying for Peter and while he understood both of their points, he wanted to get some sort of more peaceful resolution though there would never be any overstepping Tony.
"Might I inquire as to why it was all up to you to build this world defense system? Where was your team to help you?" It was distressing at hearing that Peter had died but then had come back? That was a sort of magic there certainly. Ignis shook his head and gently chided Tony. "I've already told you that you take far too much on your own shoulders."
A gentle smile appeared as Ignis had expected push back on the hero thing, but he wasn't going to change his mind. "I would certainly declare someone trying to save the world as a hero, even if you wouldn't. So you're quite welcome."
no subject
"What do I need Buttercup's take for? I'm sure Peter presented the situation logically and she followed." Kids were stupid. Of course Peter talked her into it and they both thought they could handle it fine. Even Peter admitted if he'd told someone they would've stopped him. Didn't that sound like a guilty conscience?
The part about the defense system had Tony sighing again. "This all took place years ago.. god, probably eight or nine years? Maybe ten? But.. if I didn't do it, who would? No one could do what I can." For once, he wasn't just saying that to brag. "My father might have had the brilliance to do it but he and my mother were murdered when I was twenty one. There was Bruce and he helped me some. It wasn't really his field of expertise. I didn't know who else I could trust with it."
"You're impossible.." But it earned a little bit of a smile.
no subject
His head shook. "Buttercup has her own mind, so if your son is as charismatic as you, she would follow Peter anywhere." Ignis didn't mind poking this particular subject because he'd follow Tony as he'd followed Noctis. So with this, he knew what he was talking about though he wouldn't admit it. "And you missed her as I'd imagine someone would a daughter when she was gone." He'd let the older man connect the rest of the pieces on his own.
Hearing about Tony's family had the advisor to reach out to touch the older man's arm sympathetically. "I'm sorry to hear about your parents." He had no idea who Bruce was, but obviously this person had tried to help Tony solve the issue.
To the last, he knew he'd gotten through. "If I'm impossible, that means I've won." There was a tiny bit of a triumphant smile there.
no subject
"Right, so he's the responsible party who should be punished for it. I'm so glad you see it my way." Tony almost snickered as he simply concluded he'd won that argument too. He didn't want to even think about what would happen if Buttercup had actually gotten hurt. That was just- nope, his mind refused to go there.
He gave a small nod of thanks at the remark about his parents. It still was such a sore subject even after all these years. That wound likely would never heal right. Especially not with the knife he couldn't seem to withdraw from his back.
Fortunately before he got too lost in that dark place, Ignis was declaring himself the winner at something. If their night in the game car had proven anything it was Tony was a sore loser. "What? No it just.. fine." He looked around for something to throw at Ignis in protest. He spotted his spoon with his tea cup and with an overly bratty grin, he dropped it on the floor. "Will you bend over and get that?"
no subject
The older man had beat his ass at a lot of the games that were played but when Ignis did win, he would've almost thought it was the end of the world. Again, more things he compared to Noctis and were reminders of the king. He himself didn't really play video games but the company had been enjoyable even if his OCD had a fit knowing there was a dirty kitchen for anyone to stumble into.
The childish gesture got an 'I can't believe you just did that' face when asked to pick up the purposefully dropped spoon. "I certainly don't see any benefit in doing so." Why did Tony want him to bend...oh.
no subject
He wasn't able to stop himself from laughing this time. That look on Ignis' face! He would never forget it! "Do it and you'll find out." He wondered if Ignis was close enough to reach if he did bend over.
no subject
The dirty blonde head cocked to the side unsure of Tony's motives here with the spoon. Ignis had thrown down a challenge of his own regarding it and was now going to find out. "You'd better make it worth my while."
Slowly he moved away from Tony maintaining eye contact until he actually bent over and couldn't anymore. And the advisor meant his words, it'd better be worth it.
no subject
And probably like Ignis had been expecting, once he was in position a firm hand reached out and ran along the curve of his ass. His middle finger rubbed the hardest and it went right along the seam. "Hmm, Ignis. You do have one fine ass. It might just be your best feature."
no subject
Feeling the hand on his ass was expected, but the actual contact was obviously different than simply imagining it happening. Ignis tried to catch his breath which came out as a pant and then a small moan with the insistent rubbing.
His face coloured but whether it was from the physical action happening or the compliment, the advisor couldn't say.
no subject
The first sign on that subject would be if he were obedient and gave them some privacy.
no subject
Maybe Tony was getting dressed or something even if that went against what had just been going on. Either way, Ignis pulled the curtains closed and turned to look back at the man on the bed. Did he need help with something?
no subject
"Come here, Tiger. Get up here with me." He had only a small taste of the adviser and he wanted more. He wasn't sure if they could make it as far as he was wanting them to, but at least they could have fun for a while. He curled his finger, beckoning the younger man to him.
