Standard Car--Knitting

When Raven had ordered the knitting supplies, she'd been pleased with what she got. Except that now she had to transform the wrapped skeins of yarn into balls for easier use. So you might find her with the yarn skein wrapped around her hands, and a 'ball' being formed as it unwinds, suspended by dark energy. Or you might find her with the yarn already on her knitting needles, as she consults a pattern every now and then. Depending on how distracted she is, she might have to rip out a few rows and re-knit or not.


Greenhouse Car--Meditating

Raven meditates daily, sometimes while levitating, sometimes not. If she really isn't open to being disturbed, she does this in a quiet car. But when she's in the greenhouse car, she is open to being approached. Or maybe she just wants a change of scenery.

Chores--Around the Train

Purple team had cleaning duty for the chore roster this month, and Raven honestly preferred it to the other chores. Mostly because it was straightforward and not hard to do. She tries to wait until a passenger area is empty, but you might catch her with a broom, or a dust-cloth. Fortunately she has little trouble with reaching the high areas.

Standard car

"Is that easier than doing it by hand?" Soldat asks, peering curiously at the yarn winding all on its own. They'd been passing through for a seat, themselves, wanting to be somewhere people were, and that's quite distracting.

Not in a bad way, though. That's why they're here: to be distracted.

"It's more this is what I do when I don't have someone to help. Which is often." Raven replied, holding up her hands, with the skein of yarn wrapped around them. "Once the yarn has been balled, I'll be able to start my project. Balled yarn is easier to knit from than this. Less tangles."

Well, if it's just because she has no one to help: "Well. Want help?" They've never balled yarn before, but they're a quick study with most things.

"I wouldn't say no. Usually I'd have your hands holding the skein like I am, but that can be pretty boring." Raven was willing to let him learn to ball the yarn, now that she had it started. It also wasn't hard, and could be boring or meditative, depending. "I can't knit anything until the yarn is in a ball. What I'm holding now is a skein."

Standard Car

A small girl - like first year of grade school - is sitting in the Standard Car as well. She's got a large book open in front of her, Essentials of Computational Chemistry, Second Edition: Theories and Models.

She occasionally glances up from her reading to watch that yarn spinning and unwinding. Eventually, she speaks up. "Do you always use your powers for... such mundane tasks?"

Even saying the word 'powers' makes Haibara's inner skeptic cringe.

Raven is well aware to not judge by appearances. Especially on this train. "Depends on what the task is." She replied, tone as deadpan as ever.

"For working yarn, then, for example?" comes the response in EQUAL deadpan.

It's well to not judge Haibara by her appearance, though she wishes people would. She's terrible at acting like a child, so her appearance is the only way she has to fool people.

"When no one's around to help, then yes." Raven's tone remained deadpan, although she raised an eyebrow. As if asking 'wanna help?'.

Chores

It was pretty likely that Renee had started from the other end of the train--especially since she had no problems with people being there or not. Also, no problems with telling people to move, if she needed to. Besides, she wasn't the type who could sit idle all the time, either.

But she actually looked happy to see Raven, giving the younger teen a wave. "Hey! I didn't know you were still here!" No, she hadn't bothered to look at the roster--she let other people tell her who'd left. "You been doing okay?"

Raven currently has a broom in her hands, as she's sweeping the common areas as best as possible. She blinked at Renee. "I thought you'd left." Another blink. "Do you remember leaving?"

"I did leave. I...sort of?" It was hard to definitively say 'yes' or 'no' to whether or not Renee really remembered leaving, and Raven can probably sense the redhead's frustration at that.

"I kind of fugued out? I sort of remember getting off the train and heading for the gates, but I'm not sure if I dreamed that up or if it really happened. I sure don't remember anything after that, until I woke up on the platform again."

And she's less than thrilled about that part, but she sure did seem glad to see Raven again, at least.

"I don't remember leaving the train, but apparently I did for a while too. Like you, I have no memory anything between 'leaving' the train, and being on the platform too." Raven replied.

Greenhouse car

Curufin comes into the Greenhouse Carriage, having just spent an hour in the Garden Carriage playing his flute and contemplating. He is currently on his way to the Luggage Car and just passing through the greenhouse. His flute is in his hand and his rucksack is on his back. He immediately sees Raven meditating. He doesn't know if she's open to conversation or not, so he sits quietly on the grass.

And then after a bit, he lifts his flute to his lips and starts to play softly.

Raven was on the grass, off the path, and not floating for once. Cloak spread behind her, breathing even and steady, seemingly lost in her meditation. It didn't mean she wasn't aware, however.

Curufin wasnt generally someone who bothered Raven, certainly not with his presence alone. When he didn't speak, she appreciated it as the quiet presence was welcomed. The flute playing did make her open an eye in curiosity, however. Not necessarily an objection...

The flute music was soft and melodious. Curufin was playing one of his own compositions, one he was still working on. He glanced at Raven and saw she had opened an eye.

"If my music is an interruption, I'll go and play somewhere else," he said, since even though she looked curious rather than disturbed, he thought he should be polite.

Raven shook her head, and opened her eyes fully. "You, and it, are less intrusive than many, Curufin." A pause. "I didn't know you played."

Standard Car

As she stepped into the car, Kitty paused at the sight of the floating yarn.

"Hey, Raven," she greeted with a curious smile. "What're you doing?"

"Winding yarn into a ball, so I can knit with it." It seemed kind of obvious to Raven. Her tone was as deadpan as ever, but she really wasn't meaning to be sarcastic.

"Oh yeah?" Kitty herself didn't know much about knitting, but she had kind of seen people do this on television and movies.

"That's cool, that you know how to knit." She actually hadn't pegged Raven as someone who could knit. "It always seems kinda difficult to me."

Knitting

"Oh, are you knitting?" Rapunzel seemed rather excited at seeing someone with knitting needles. It had after all been a good six months now since she had seen any.

"Isn't it one of the most relaxing things to do?"

"It often depends on what's going on around me." Raven did find it somewhat relaxing. Knitting was perhaps the one way that wasn't also involved in training her powers, too. "I ordered from the train store, after the winter faire."

"Is there usually something going on around you?" Her thoughts went to her thinking of what could cause someone to not be relaxed when it comes to knitting and she honestly couldn't think of anything.

"I didn't think to buy knitting stuff myself, but I think next stop I might not. it's been so long after all... and the train gave me a book about knitting too."

"Heyyy. What'cha making?"

The one thing Tidus knows about knitting? Is that it involves making something! And that's where his knowledge ends and dies, but not his curiosity, a small smile on his face as he happens to come up to Raven's table, seeing if he could figure out at all what she might be making.

Not by any actual progress, anyway, given she's only just started.

Finally, Raven had gotten the skeins wound into balls. Some with help, which she appreciated. So now she's actually starting her project, albeit it's small still. "Eventually a blanket. I'm going to make long strips and then sew them together."

"Cosy!" He leans up against the side of the booth, not taking a seat, but watching with interest. "How hard is it?"

He knew the basic idea of knitting, but he wasn't actually that familiar with it. At like, any stage of the process. But it was all about those needles, wasn't it...?
