3 Kazoo - Adult Ballroom Social and Epic Kids' Game Night

You've seen the flyers. You've heard the announcements. You've ordered additional party reinforcements if you wanted them. Some of you have even helped her to prepare. And now it's finally here - the Adult Ballroom Social that she's been planning these many, many week-and-a-half.

But you wouldn't know it only took that long to throw it together. She's gone all out for this one. Including the wardrobe that's been opened up, there are four cars that have been set aside for tonight. The main ballroom floor is in the non-training gym, which has been cleared and decorated for the occasion. The music is being piped in from the music car, where it's still playing for those who would prefer a more intimate and private setting. Meanwhile, the game room has been set out for the kids who would otherwise be left out of this adult and near-adult event.

Senku is dressed in a proper three piece suit, with his hair down and slicked back, although it's definitely below his shoulders now since he hasn't had a haircut. He was naturally a wallflower though, and more inclined to linger at the edge of the dance floor.

However, if he didn't have to lead, he could be convinced to dance with people he liked. It was only fair to suggest he was not a very good dancer.

In all likelihood, much of his time dancing would be with Gen anyway, considering he came with him.

Selenay had taken quite a bit of time in the dressing car before settling on a white dress that is a little different than what she's accustomed to, but it's absolutely gorgeous, and she can at least pretend that she's back in Court for a moment. While putting her hair up, she considers digging out the red-gold circlet that indicated her rank as Queen, but ultimately decided against it. She just wants to enjoy the party, even if she doesn't actually have anyone to go with.

At least she's managed to find a friend, even if he appears like he's trying very hard not to be found, and she approaches with a soft smile.

"You've cleaned up rather nicely."

"Thank you." Senku responded. "You look nice too." He knew enough about social graces to manage about that much.

He would be rather tapped out after that, so hopefully she wasn't expecting too much. He couldn't help it if he looked a bit uncomfortable in a party setting, he genuinely was, but he can tolerate it for a bit, and for Gen's sake at least.

She almost says something smart about that being the entire response she got out of him, but instead she smiles and shakes her head. This is a party, Senku, you're supposed to be enjoying yourself.

"Thank you as well. I did try. But why are you off in a corner alone?"

"Ah, I don't particularly like these kinds of things." Senku commented, waving his hand a little.

"However, Gen does." He was giving it a shot at least.

"You must truly care for them if you're willing to subject yourself to this." She barely is, most of the time, but she's stubbornly refusing to have a bad night.

"At least tell me you dance."

"Yeah, isn't he lucky?" Senku snorted with amusement.

"I...can be dragged around?" He wasn't much of a dancer. "I don't have much experience."

"He is." She's serious, he absolutely is lucky and she will not deny it. He's the one that brought it up, anyway.

"Good enough," she laughs, and offers a hand. "Would you dance with me? Maybe you'll even enjoy it."

He would've said no if it wasn't Selenay. He was rather fond of her in his own way and he nodded.

"Sure." He accepted her hand. "Guess I can't refute that until it happens anyway." He chuckled. "I could indeed enjoy it."

"Sometimes I do stumble across a good idea." She's only partly surprised that he accepts, but she smiles and leads him out to the dance floor.

"I'll try not to step on you too much."

"Isn't that my line?" Senku quipped easily, and look he's at least learned where to put his hands, that's something. It was mostly observation though.

"You were too slow about it, so I did." She laughs a little and pulls him along with her. She's not actually too bad at it, either. A danger of Court, but she keeps that to herself.

"You're not as bad at it as you think you are, I promise."

She always manages to amuse him which is a pretty decent feat. "Eager."

Senku hummed and moved with her. He was better after doing this with Eight and Kitty last time, at least, he was a bit more in tune with the music and with her leading he would manage.

"If my job ever evolves to needing this as a skill, Ryusui's getting it so fast." Senku chuckled.

Gen had been lucky and found a dark purple suit with silver stripes in the dressing carriage for this event. His hair was tucked and arranged from his face with sparkly purple clips, and whenever he looked over at Senku, he smiled brightly. He couldn't help but shift a little with the music.

"Can I interest you in a dance, Senku-chan?" Gen asked, bowing deeply to his friend.

"I suppose." Senku responded and returned the bow a little less and offered Gen his hand.

"You'd better lead because I don't know what I'm doing." He commented. "I'm just here to look good." Senku teased. "I don't really dance."

It should come as no surprise.

Now, that was only appropriate, Gen thought with an amused grin. Senku was the village chief and leader of the Kingdom of Science, after all. He was just his Mentalist.

He took his hand and lead him onto the floor. "Oh, you're doing an excellent job at that."

Gen smiled soft and fond at him. "But never fear, my dearest. Following my lead, you'll look like an expert."

Gen would also know he hadn't meant anything by it, he was just a brat who didn't care about such things.

"Such compliments." He hummed. "I guess you look nice." There, he managed that and he let Gen position their hands properly how he wanted and he held onto him.

"I'm sure you know all about this." It wouldn't surprise him at all. "Having fun?"

"See, and now you'll turn my head with such flattery!" Gen giggled at him, being a bit of a brat in turn. This was just what they were like.

The song had barely begun, and it was easy for him to step forward, and back, introducing Senku to the sway and beat of the movement, keeping his feet dexterously out of Senku's way. Gen hummed in agreement.

"I've danced with many, many people before - but I think now I've got the best partner," Gen told him cheerfully. "I'm having a lot of fun now that I've got you dancing with me."

"I'm not even a good dancer." Senku pointed out, but he didn't complain, he let Gen lead them with the music.

"Doesn't surprise me, this kind of artsy thing seems right up your alley, Mentalist." Senku sighed.

"If my job ever evolves to needing to dance, that's when Ryusui can have it."

"Pish-posh. Look at you now - you're gliding across the floor like a pro!" Gen claimed. A lot of that was thanks to his skill, and avoiding getting his feet stepped on, admittedly. But Gen knew that Senku knew what was really happening here.

"And besides - your other qualities outweigh any other person by miles," Gen told him, smiling fondly.

Gen giggled. "Please, by then we'll be necks deep in diplomacy. You'd hate it so. Probably start chemical fires in the balconies just to cause a distraction to escape."

Senku chuckled a bit. He was somewhat clumsy, but he would get better as they moved and Gen might have to dodge less.

"That so?" Senku chuckled lightly. "I'm not going to ask you which ones." He didn't want to encourage his flighty nonsense.

"I have a court mentalist to do distraction." Senku joked.

Gen winked. "I'd be happy to list all of them out for you. But that might take us all night."

Senku was improving enough - that he dared dipping him for a moment, grinning madly, before setting him to rights again, gliding across the floor once more.

"Mm. You're betting that my loyalty to the kingdom's top scientist would outweigh my loyalty to the new leader," Gen mused, looking quite tickled. "That's an accurate statement, my dear, though perhaps not wise of me to admit."

"Ha." Senku chuckled. "Even easier when you can redirect the attention on our dear Captain while I make my very stealthy escape." He smirked.

"Oh, I think I have you pretty well figured out, Asagiri Gen." He taunted lightly. "I think Ryusui will forgive your loyalties."

"A pretty simple task," Gen told him, chuckling too. "Especially as our dear captain soaks up attention like a sponge."

Gen preened a little, enjoying when Senku taunted and teased him back. "I certainly hope so, since they won't be changing. Though knowing me as well as you do ... I hope I won't become boring. There's a risk in becoming too predictable, Senku-chan."

"I have never found you boring, not for a minute." Senku hummed. "So I'm not sure there is a risk."

Either Gen was just unpredictable enough to whet his appetite, or he was hopelessly in love wiht him and charmed by just about everything he did.

Gen could decide.

"So. Dancing with me. Is it worth it? I came to this thing for you, you know."
