3 Kazoo - Adult Ballroom Social and Epic Kids' Game Night

You've seen the flyers. You've heard the announcements. You've ordered additional party reinforcements if you wanted them. Some of you have even helped her to prepare. And now it's finally here - the Adult Ballroom Social that she's been planning these many, many week-and-a-half.

But you wouldn't know it only took that long to throw it together. She's gone all out for this one. Including the wardrobe that's been opened up, there are four cars that have been set aside for tonight. The main ballroom floor is in the non-training gym, which has been cleared and decorated for the occasion. The music is being piped in from the music car, where it's still playing for those who would prefer a more intimate and private setting. Meanwhile, the game room has been set out for the kids who would otherwise be left out of this adult and near-adult event.

"Come on, Rose. It's me. Me. How is it you never see me? Even when it's right in front of you. You never-- ugh... " She doesn't know where the temper comes from and it's not right so she swallows it back. Then takes a step back and as the dance is ending it's just as well.

Hands in her pockets she tries to smile.

"Nah, forget it. It's not important. Hallo, it's me. Different face. Different everything. Still me knocking about." But maybe it's been too long, or she's too much changed, or it doesn't matter.

Rose dips a curtsey at the end of their dance.

It's readily apparent that there's history between them, though it remains unclear whether it's one that she has yet to experience or one with a parallel version of herself. She can't deny that there's something in those words, an echo of something familiar but lost, but for the life of her she can't place the face.

She can understand how frustrating things can be when you're not on the same page or even the same book, so she doesn't begrudge the other woman her outburst. Her expression is open but apologetic. "Sorry, but I'm gonna need a little more than that." She doesn't want to ask outright for a name; she knows first-hand how tricky it can be to keep timelines straight without adding stress to the situation.

She can't. Maybe she's changed too much. Maybe Rose has. Maybe there's something slantwise about all of this. There is too much time and space and too little of them left. And maybe that was the way it should be.

"Don't worry about it. See you around, yeah?" She backs away as she talks, ready to go somewhere else, anywhere really --parting is always hard, and harder when there's so much distance. But Rose would find out eventually though part of the Doctor wishes she wouldn't-- and another part wishes she already knew.

"I'm sure you will."

Rose bites her lip to suppress a giggle at the obviousness of the retreat.

This whole exchange has her curiosity more than a little piqued, but she doesn't press. She can be patient and let the mystery unravel on its own; after all, she's got nothing but time.

"Sorry."

She won't like it when she does find out.

Neither of them will.

But it is what it is. She gives Rose one last smile before turning and leaving the party to indulge in something mindless. Not much to do though in this limited space, in this limited time.
