Kazoo 3 - Rabbit Time

WangJi had awoken earlier than normal and today was unable to go back to sleep. So he had gotten up so as not to disturb his cabinmates and gone to the greenhouse carriage to visit his rabbits. Little Radish had been sound asleep when he had arrived, but Little Carrot had been awake and ready to see him.

So today WangJi let the rabbit out to play and the rabbit started wandering, heading towards different carriages of the train. WangJi followed along behind the small black rabbit at a pace that matched how fast his rabbit was moving.

"Where do you wish to go?" he asked his rabbit after it had traveled from the greenhouse car, exploring through the train with WangJi's guidance to ensure it was safe. "Are you hoping to find the kitchen?"

The black rabbit sat up, looking around before beginning to walk again, WangJi following. He was completely losing track of time, but that was fine with him.

Two rabbits. Two friends, for Wormmon.

Two beings, who form friendships just with Wormmon. Because they like Wormmon, for who he is.

Ken's smile softens even further. "That'd be nice."

Wormmon's body softly rises and falls in his nap, revealing the bizarre fact that he is a bug with lungs(?). Digimon!

Yep, two animals to be Wormmon's friend. WangJi knew that if Little Carrot had accepted Wormmon, Little Radish wouldn't really need to be won over. Rabbits were social creatures so if the other was allowed by a member of the warren, he was good.

"We shall arrange it then."

Given that WangJi had never spent much time studying bugs in particular and had never seen one quite so large, it was as normal for him as anything else.

"Has Wormmon been with you long?"

if wormmon were awake for this he might faint from joy

"Somewhat." Ken watches Wormmon sleep with a smile on his face, knowing an answer like that requires clarification. "This isn't my first time in another world. I traveled to Wormmon's world three years ago, but we've only been able to stay together recently."

Now that he has the ability to travel worlds at will, and take Wormmon back with him. Or, well, had. He doesn't have his Digivice with him and has heard it doesn't work anyway.

That's still an incomplete answer, however.....Ken considers his words. Something this emotional is hard to pin down with his preferred precision. "Wormmon is what's called my 'Digimon partner'. He's always been waiting for me."

You could probably raise plants off the warm fondness radiating from Ken right now. "And in my own way, I was waiting for him, too."

"Then it is fated that he was your partner. It is good that you were able to bring him back with you."

WangJi's sect believed in fate. More specifically, fated partners in a romantic sense, but fate did play an important part in their lives so he could understand it in other senses.

"It is."

Ken could stand here all day and watch Wormmon. Wormmon, who'd believed in him when no one else had, not even himself. Wormmon, who's always watching over him with patience and compassion.

Wormmon, who's rolling off the rabbit and bonking his head, which hurts, so he wakes with a startled sob of "Ken-chyaaaaan~"

Pardon him, WangJi. Ken has to retrieve his partner.

WangJi raised an eyebrow, thinking that Wormmon was starting to slide down as he saw it out of the corner of his eye, but he didn't have a chance to make a move before Wormmon did and hit his head on the floor which woke him up. Little Carrot jumped at the sudden cry and then came over to nuzzle against Wormmon.

They'll tag-team this, Little Carrot. Ken is kneeling by Wormmon, who is holding his head. "What...."

"Are you okay, Wormmon?"

Ken-chan is asking, so Wormmon needs to think about this seriously. He nods. "Yeah. But where did the garden go?"

"Ah..?"

Wormmon gestures. "The biiiig veggie garden! I was there, and you were there, and so were lots of rabbits! We played together."

Ken assembles the evidence. "You had a nice dream, didn't you...." He glances at Little Carrot. Can the rabbit tell that Wormmon's going to be okay?

Little Carrot continued to nuzzle him for a moment, but when all things seemed to have settled down, Little Carrot did too.

"That sounds like a nice dream. It sounds like one I have had many times."

He had lots of rabbits back home and thinking about them made him happy.

"You dream about veggies too?"

Wormmon had not expected that from this tall, serene young man. It seems too mundane a dream for someone of such elegance. Having something in common with a nice man like that is incredible!

A faint smile crossed his face. "I dream of rabbits. But since they need to eat vegetables, I suppose I dream about vegetables as well."

Little Carrot stretched a little and sat up on his hind legs, looking around before hopping over to WangJi to sit up and look at him. When WangJi bent to pet him, he hopped back over towards Wormmon and Ken.

Sassy bunny.

"I want to dream about rabbits more. If we play a lot, will I dream about rabbits and Ken-chan?"

Ken-chan kneels as Little Carrot approaches, and sticks out a hand for the rabbit to sniff. He's not going to pet anybunny who doesn't want to be petted, but....He would like to thank Little Carrot for being Wormmon's friend.

Little Carrot hopped closer to sniff Ken's hand before settling in. Yes, petting bunny is okay.

"Yes, I think you will. More time with Little Carrot and Little Radish will help with that."

Wormmon chortles softly. "Oh, good."

Speaking of softly.....Ken is the purest, gentlest rabbit-petter ever. His touch is delicate, but he curls his fingers a little in case Little Carrot prefers scritches to pets. He's extremely sensitive and considerate to body language, and will automatically adjust to ensure Little Carrot gets THE BEST PETS EVER.

He isn't even meaning to. This is just how he is.

"I'd like that too."

Little Carrot appreciated the care behind it and there was a decidedly happy-looking bunny sitting there with him getting all the pets. It was definitely some of the best pets that he'd had.

"Then we will arrange for you to meet Little Radish."

Ken and Wormmon both smile at that. And soak up the thought, for a moment, of Multiple Bunnies.

"Do they stay with you?" Ken asks, continuing his pets. Wormmon watches, glad his new friend is getting to see how wonderful Ken-chan is, but....oh. Oh, those are some nice pets.

It's a little lonely.

Multiple bunnies!

"Sometimes. They stay mainly in the greenhouse as they have a hutch, but occasionally they will be in the room with me."

"Can we go see the greenhouse?"

Wormmon asks this of Ken, who then looks over for confirmation. Can...they...?

"Yes, we can. Let's go there now."

He looked down at his rabbit, who clearly didn't know the plan was to go back to the greenhouse, quite enjoying the pets that he was getting from Ken.

They do seem to have entered a difficult step, haven't they. Ken smiles, pats the rabbit once more, and stands.

"We're seeing your home," he explains to Little Carrot. Wormmon hops over too, to talk to his friend (and perhaps put himself between Little Carrot and Ken-chan). "Show me, show me!"

Little Carrot looked up at the petting leaving only to look over as his new friend came back over. He wiggled his nose before looking at WangJi. WangJi gave a slight nod in the direction of the greenhouse car.

Whether the rabbit actually understood or that was a complete coincidence, Little Carrot began to head back towards the greenhouse car, leading them in that direction.

It was a very slow procession back to the greenhouse car, partially since they were following a rabbit. But also because they were following a rabbit that kept looking back to make sure his worm friend hadn't gotten lost.

But finally, they made it back and as soon as they made it into the greenhouse car, Little Carrot bounced and went racing over to his hutch, making noises at Little Radish who was awake now and laying in the fenced-in area.

"We are here."

Ken's expression lightens as he sees the greenhouse - this is so peaceful - and Wormmon hurries after Little Carrot. "Wait! Waaaaaaa---"

Splat. There he goes again. This is one lesson Wormmon may never learn.

Ken has faith in his partner, so this doesn't stop him from turning to WangJi and admitting: "It's lovely."

Oh, Wormmon. WangJi glanced over at him as he headed over to the hutch to let Little Radish out, Little Carrot already going back over to Wormmon. This was one clumsy friend.

"It is. Others have planted here and the rabbits do enjoy it."

WangJi picked up Little Radish and set him down. Immediately the white rabbit came hopping over, curious where his brother was going.

There's the other rabbit. Wormmon picks himself up and inches over to greet Little Radish more carefully. Hello! He's Wormmon...will you be...his friend?

Ken tilts his head up to look at the plants better. "Mm."

He's lost in thought, with a dreamy look on his face. One of the dangers of taking Ken somewhere he likes is that he tends to...zone out...to soak it in.

His expression, however, does all the speaking his mouth isn't.

That's fine with WangJi. He can be perfectly happy with silence and stillness. It was how he was raised and just his personality in general. Rabbits were good for that. They were quiet and gentle. The faintest of smiles crossed his face seeing that Ken was enjoying it.

Little Radish stopped for a moment when he spotted Wormmon but seeing the Little Carrot went right up to him, Little Radish also moved closer, sniffing at him. So far so good. He was still there.

Oh! Oh he is making another rabbit friend!

"Gyahuu."

Wormmon sticks out a claw for Little Radish to investigate. He doesn't want to pat the rabbit until he knows it's okay, because he does not want to be a scary Digimon, but.

But he really wants to pat the rabbit!!
