Kazoo 19 Red Meeting [open]

Who: Red Team, people Who Are Basically In Red Team Let's Be Honest, people who are dating a Red Team member (god im so sorry), etc.
Where: Training Gym
When: Month Kazoo, Day 19. After lunch.
What: It's the monthly red team meeting! This is a free-for-all mingle to have everyone check in and get an idea of what everyone else can do. Prompts will involve reviewing the last mission, giving information, and introducing new characters. "but elle, my character wouldn't attend the meeting!" lightning's not their mom they can skive if they want.
Warnings: will be added if necessary

Sometimes Lightning wishes some of the others who've left were still here to handle things. It's what she'd wanted, back when Tony and the others had stepped in: someone to cut away the irritating chaff and give her something to aim at. To make things less complicated.

Now that someone is her, and it means she has to get over herself. No room for hesitation. And so, as lunchtime is winding down, the clink of plates and empty glasses starting to drown out the sounds of a meal, she taps her knife against her own glass for attention. It's not an unfamiliar announcement, at least.

"Red meeting in the training gym in fifteen minutes. Set your SCAs if you think you'll be late. Anyone else... Come along if you want. It's mission talk, more or less."

Even the format of the meeting is familiar. It's worked so far, even if most of the faces have changed since the last time. Odin stands sentinel, the horned crest of his helmet not quite brushing the lights of the carriage, and does little other than shift occasionally. With him not exerting himself, the drain on her eidolith is just lessened enough that she can keep him manifested for long enough to use him as a training dummy.

"Icebreaker time. Last time I asked how you'd take this guy out. This time's the same, except you can't hit her." Her being Buttercup, a scowling twelve-year-old, looking small beside Odin.

The kid clears her throat, and Lightning sighs. "Right. You tell me a way that hits her, she gets a free hit back. A real one."

Everyone gets a turn to answer or discuss, though she doesn't chase anyone not wearing red for a response.

While she's mostly happy to let people discuss what they want, she brings several issues up in the course of the meeting:

Several team members overexerted themselves or panicked in the recent mission, and endangered themselves and others. Light doesn't call people out by name, but she definitely makes eye contact with several people around the room. She gets it, she says, but if there's something like that that's gonna keep happening, she wants people to at least tell someone. If it's a fear, a memory, an injury... It doesn't have to be her. Just someone they trust. Preferably as soon as possible.

People are making use of supplies, which is good. She reiterates an offer to help purchase anything important passengers might need for missions, whether components or weaponry, and has a supply list on-hand for passengers to read through. There are weapons and gear available, and she'll fetch anything they might want to try.

[She stands scowling, though the scowl is mostly for show. She doesn't mind this, especially since Priestess Lightning agreed that if she got hit she could hit back. Even better that Priestess Lightning said she could hit them if they came up with a stupid idea that would get her hit.

So she's pretty okay with being a teaching tool. She scowls anyways, as if daring them to hit her.]

[wtf is this robot shit. Ken looks at Little One, then back to Odin, and crosses his arms.]

I’d use my spear to open up one of the armor plates and use Nemesis to shock him in his exposed innards.

I mean, it's what I use to fight with. And you can do a lot with a strong spear. If I can use it as a lever I can get the flat part of the blade under there and push.

Than's ice breaker answer

[ Thanatos closes his eyes and reaches out with his sense. He thinks he can sense the threads he'd need to cut with his sword or scythe. He's not entirely sure, but he's not about to test his powers on fellow passengers. ]

I would cut the threads of Odin and instantly end his life, and if that cannot be done, I would do that to Lightning since she summoned him.

[ Then he sighs, and he can't hide the edge of bitterness from entering his tone. ]

And if my powers of death are nullified again, I shift Buttercup out of the way and let someone else, probably Zagreus, finish the job.

Sounds good to me, as long as that shift doesn't knock you out again.

[ There were many factors contributing to that! Circumstances are different!

Thanatos doesn't voice any opposition though. He only offers the slightest of nods and lets Lightning move to the next Red. ]

[ Here's Alley, accompanied by her giant war-dog puppy, Bean. ]

I'd make him focus on only myself, leaving him wide open for attacks from others.

[ Bean whines. ]

...Including my dog.

[ Bean gives a happy bark! ]

[ No complaints on that answer. But, ] ... What's the dog do?

Bite, tackle, stun. He can help herd an enemy back to me if there's a lot of them and my hands are full keeping the rest of their attention.

[ Bean wags his stumpy little tail so hard it makes his whole butt wiggle. Alley snorts in amusement at his antics, and gives his head a scritch with her singular, gloved hand. ]

He's not quite full-grown yet... or even trained, but he'll get there. Mabari war-hounds like him have turned the tide of entire invasions before.

[ He's already got a mouth big enough to take off a person's head. ]

I dunno, he a five-star restaurant guy? [He says to the question, because he can't help himself. If the chance is there, he has to take it.] Play distraction and lure it away while someone else got the girl and someone else killed the big armor person.

[Murphy's fake answer. His preferred answer would be 'with an army'. But that's harder to manage than it used to be. Also what the hell is that thing even?]

[ She raises an eyebrow at the quip, more patient with it than she would have been a year ago. Still, that's not that patient. ]

Anything you could get that'd change that answer? A weapon, or something else from home?

Best weapon I had was a sword cane. I could cut through a person, not metal.

Plus I don't know what that- [he gestures to Odin] -is exactly. So there are a lot of variables. Like is there a junkyard with a big magnet nearby, or some sort of caustic substance I can use. I'm betting even something like sealer foam in the joints could make a difference. I work with what's around me.

[It's the apocalypse. All that's left is improvising.]

In the situation as it is right now? Someone else has to do that part.

[No one's mentioned zombie hordes yet, so he's choosing the non-zombie horde option.]

"Psst.." [It's debatable to say that anyone actually invited Mono to this meeting, or if he himself is even consciously attending it on purpose. From the moment he arrived through the ICP he hasn't said a word to anyone, merely keeping to the shadows and ducking out of sight. Such a small thing couldn't possibly be a team member, yet the red hoodie says otherwise.]

"Oi..."

[He knows one thing apparently-- that Buttercup shouldn't be standing so close to the hulking monstrosity. So regardless of whose 'turn' it is, and what brilliant strategy they are offering, this doll-sized kid will sneak close in the background and try to get Buttercup's attention, so he can insistently tug on the sleeve of 'help escort' them to safety. Hurry! Before the bigger big thing notices!]

[She had noticed him, it was hard to miss someone come through an ICP after all. He was a strange creature, tiny, in a red hoodie. Bag over his head.

She is trying to stay still and silent but her sleeve is being pulled.]

What do your plan be being?

[Mono stops tugging for a moment. Plan???]

"R..escue?" [He mutters, uncertainly. Does she.. not want to be saved??? Six had resisted his help at first too, but they were still willing to at least leave their prison after he axed the door down. This one had looked so unhappy, surely she didn't want to actually be there?]

"Distracted." [The child points to Odin and then rest of the crowd, more emphatically, clearly the much more imposing figures worth it's attention! He got over here easily enough without notice and it hasn't hurt you, so you're not a prime target apparently??]

"Run?" [Before it sees!]

[Can he not talk well? She wrinkled her nose. Rescue. Distracted." It seemed the others and indeed Odin were distracted. Run.

Ah he is demonstrating. She flicks her eyes up to Lightning, well. She's meant to be a practice target, so let's see if this small child's plan worked. She nodded, moved towards him.]

Be running where?

[There was no luxury of not going through with something where Mono is from. A plan is something improvised with what you have available to you after you take the hard first step. Spending too long in one place trying to guess every variable is how you get gobbled up. Action is what is required in these situations! If you worked yourself up, you only stayed in more danger; it was about escaping the fear as much as your enemy.

Not that..Mono could articulate this much, not yet. Instead he bends into even more of a crouched posture, urging her to do the same. He gestures to the biggest crowd-- they look strong-- and traces their route with his finger. Duck under a table, come out behind them, simple!

This place has a few other things to their advantage, namely the big supply cabinets. If trouble happens, that's where they head next.

First it's taking careful careful steps to escape Odin's notice. Hopefully nothing will happen at all...

Of course, it's not as though Buttercup has to actually go through with any of this. It's hardly a flawless plan.]

[She goes along with it, clearly this is his way of answering Lightning's question and she's pretty sure Lightning has noticed them. She can judge the usefulness of this plan.

Under the table, our behind the crowd. She nods and creeps behind him, as quiet as she can to escape Odin's notice.]

[Huh so far so good! They seem to be getting out its line of sight with ease. It's kind of weird actually, usually the threat would have reacted by now? Was that it? Are they free to go?

Mono considers. There's still a chance that big thing will see the girl make a dash for freedom, even if it should have lost sight of her like this. There looks to be a ball of some sort nearby, it must have fallen from the cabinet or been left by an earlier crowd. He moves to retrieve it.

He turns to Buttercup and points to the door then makes a shooing motion.]

"Go."

[By the look of things, he's about ready to chuck the ball at Odin to make sure he has its' attention instead the second she takes off.]

[enthunder]

[Lightning has indeed noticed, but her reaction thus far has been to mutter,]

Don't remember this being a hostage situation...

[But it's information, even so, and that's the entire point of this exercise. This tiny kid can move through electronics? Screens? And their first instinct is to avoid, rather than confront, but as the two kids creep around the meeting, she sees the boy reach for the ball.

Great, self-sacrificing. Or overly brave. Just what they need more of.

Odin, as a stand-in for the various ridiculous monsters they'll have to face during missions, isn't actually under orders to do anything other than stand there looking imposing. At her nod, though, his helm moves to fix on them, and he takes a step forward.

She wants to see what his plan with the ball is, after all.]

[The motion definitely catches the child's attention and Mono tenses in reflex. Uh oh. They waited too long, now it might see them flee.

Unfortunately there is no grander plan the works. There is no fighting the monsters that he knows, only getting away-- and turning the tables on them if you're lucky. Mono shoos Buttercup more insistently, straightening up.

There's a chance, however slim, that it hasn't seen him yet, so Mono attempts to skurry out of its line of sight again, if he can manage, before lugging the ball with all of his might!

...To his credit, he does purposely aim for the wall or surface nearest to the target. Hopefully if the object bounces off that to hit Odin he'll look in that direction instead of at them. But in the end. It is just a ball.]

She has scurried under the table and is crouched there though she moves again at the child's shooing.

She normally wouldn't take orders from a child half her size but he is intriguing and brave and this is his test, she just has to be a good training dummy.

She stays low and small, crawling the route he had explained in gestures.]

[ Huh. If Odin wasn't some archon of Etro and just some monster, that might buy him enough time. But still, it's basic, and doesn't say much for his options in a fight.

The ball bounces from the floor into Odin's shin, and Light stops it against her foot in the second bounce.

At least he's decisive and quick-thinking. It's something to work with. ]

You two can come back now. ... Mono, right? [ There are, after all, a limited number of Reds that could be eight years old. ]

[Otoha just circles around them for a moment, assessing the situation.]

In armor? Carve him up with a few sword slashes. Can cut through pretty much anything. Out of armor? Get on top of him and find a weak spot to chop at.

[The answer's pretty obvious, duh.]
