Fight Club Open Log! (Catch-All For the Month of Kazoo)
Who: Open to anyone! Make your own toplevel style~
Where: Training gym
When: Throughout the month of Kazoo
What: Training in the gym. Unofficially known as "Fight Club". 47 absolutely does not call it that. But I do!
Warnings: It's a Fight Club! Sorta. Expect (hopefully friendly) violence, maybe some cursing, and whatever else. Free feel to add cw in your toplevels if needed.
Sometime after this month's one-day excursion, 47 makes an announcement on the ICP.
From: Training Gym
To: All Carriages
Make toplevels to your heart's content and tag around to each other freely. Whether your character is offering to teach or wanders in looking for someone to get them involved (or just to watch), this is a post for you! You may use this for any sort of open or even private threads if you so wish.
This log is for anyone who wants to participate in exercising, training, sparring, and teaching lessons. Some of the "classes" also involve things like yoga, meditation, and easier self defense mechanisms for anyone to learn. Magic users also use the facilities to practice their spells! Everyone get use to that crazy lightning storm going off around them as they fight the big bad monster of a training dummy! It's going to happen at some point out in the field, guaranteed!
Basically, if you want to learn new skills that could be useful on missions, come take a peek!
[[ooc note: The typical Fight Club open log post has returned! Now condensed into one post with the ic announcement for convenience of yours truly. Here is the original ooc info post which may or may not one day get an update, and here is a list of training/trainers offered up. Feel free to continue to update either post with new character info! Or ask questions if you have 'em!]]

- [It's the bald man in a suit again. You probably already know what he's going to talk about today. If you don't, then you will next time.]
While we still probably have a few weeks before the next mission, I would once again like to remind everyone that the training gym is always open and sessions underway. Missions can be very hectic and intense if unprepared. I suggest you learn what you can, while you can, and use the facilities as much as possible to prepare for mission dates. Or unexpected excursions as they occur. It has happened that a mission fell out of the typical time period in the past. Train while you can.
To that end, there are several people who teach lessons of various skills from combat to wilderness survival to defensive measures and even magic. Those who have such skills already are welcome to participate in sparring and exercise sessions as well if they have not already done so within the group setting. Or to come teach their own skills to others.
Many trainers and sparring participants are in the gym daily so there's no excuse not to be able to find someone to help you with what you need or prefer to learn. Simply make your way to the training gym whenever possible. My name is Tobias Rieper--you'll find me within the gym most mornings and evenings, and if you need help with anything I'm available.
[That's it, he's done. A second passes and then he logs out. However, he'll be next to the ICP in the training gym for the rest of the day to catch and reply to anyone responding on the ICPs. He's also available to talk to in person while at the training gym, and, as he said, almost every day as well if another time suits someone better.]

- For a basic set-up consider this: the new training gym has all sorts of useful equipment for physical fitness such as mats, soft hand held pads for training with, training dummies, some balancing beams and even a springboard. There are large blocks for making obstacle courses or creating a unique battlefield, and two climbing apparatus next to the wall. Many people are found here daily training, maintaining physical fitness, and teaching others how to handle combat in one fashion or another. Others come and go more sporadically but all are welcome and everyone (typically) shares everything with relative ease. Many of the usual suspects will help accommodate whoever asks for help. Generally, there is just a lot of activity and a busy but fluid schedule around all the equipment and space provided.

no subject
Until then, though, he's going to try to put it out of his mind. He can... move on from all that. He doesn't need everyone to know.]
Yeah, I could kind of tell just from watching you. I haven't been taught much...
no subject
[They nod in the direction Rich had been working a moment ago. Poor kid clearly hasn't gotten good teaching. They'll fix that. Anything to help him not get hurt or even die next mission, frankly.]
Anything other than that?
no subject
[He can't blame Otoha for not being the best teacher. He was probably going pretty easy on him, considering his concern over how small Rich is.]
Before I came here, most of my fights were, uh, pretty one-sided.
no subject
Soldat offers a little smile.]
Well, let's see what we can do about that. I'm guessing these one-sided fights, you fell down a lot, right? You know how to do that without getting hurt again?
no subject
No, uh, actually, I was the one doing the beating in those scenarios. I... used to be kind of a bully. Partly because... you know.
[He gestures to the side of his head.]
no subject
[Well, okay, that's different then. They're not going to judge-- they were, after all, an assassin for a very shady organization for a long time, and Rich had that thing in his head-- so they just nod.]
So you definitely still need to learn how to fall. It's one of the more important basics to know.
no subject
[He hasn't ever had to take a hit before, so he'll try to follow Soldat's lead on this.]
There're some mats, we can practice there.
no subject
Can you fall on your own, do you think? Or do you need help? I'll be gentle about it, I promise.
[They've been helping students, often kids, fall for a year now.]
no subject
I, uh, could you maybe help me out?
[He's pretty sure he understands how to do it, but he might not be able to fall backwards without trying to catch himself sooner, at least.]
no subject
[They don't hit him; what they do is, on the third beat, they duck a little and sweep their leg out, aiming to drop Rich by knocking his feet out from under him. They're watching closely to make sure when he goes down, he goes down the right way. Or at least not very badly.]
no subject
Damn... [He laughs a little giddily.] That was so cool!
no subject
Very good. You remembered what I said and didn't hurt yourself.
[Then they offer him a hand up, with a smile.]
Now do it again. Until I'm convinced you can do it without thinking about it.
[Soldat is a kind taskmaster, but they're still, in this case, a taskmaster.]
no subject
[Well, probably more importantly it would hurt him, but Rich is always forgetful about that. He takes Soldat's hand and beams.]
Keep it up. I can take it, I promise.
no subject
I bet you can.
[They might be watching closely just to make sure, though. Soldat is pretty good at judging the limits of their students.]
Ready to fall again?
no subject
[Regardless of how willing Rich's body is itself, as Soldat helps him fall, each time he'll beam and protest that he's ready, so it's probably for the best that Soldat keeps an eye on him.]
