(open) art day art day!
Who: Open to everyone, come and mingle!
Where: Garden carriage
When: Kazoo 27
What: For today the garden carriage is turned into a place to get creative.
Warnings: There's cakes. And glitter.
Whether or not you heard Romeo and Madoka's announcement, you'll know about it, unless you avoid the garden carriage somehow for the entire day (and then from then on). The changes are simple, but hopefully something to be built on: an outline made in gold paint that takes the shape of a tree with large curling branches that greets the viewer from the longer width of wall, and a fishing net draped down the length of wall by the nearest entrance, with strings hanging off it for decorations to be added to. Posters seem to be all over the carriage, carrying messages in a childish yet neat handwriting, like "Are you having a fun day? Please vote art so we can have do lots more art together!"
Small sitting pillows have been placed around so people aren't sitting on the bed of stones, and the statues once there moved to other parts of the 'garden', leaving them with sounds of the running water to keep them company.
So, just what is there to do?

So, just what is there to do?
THE CRAFTS;
- The group have done their best to get as many art supplies as possible, with two trunks taken from the luggage car, and filled as tidily as possible. Inside one is a variety of papers, from tissue to cardboard, decorated and plain, some that's shiny, and even the kind for origami. There's also some sketchpads set out to the side, for any larger projects.
And in the net trunk is all the rest you'd expect: the fun supplies. Paints, inks, glue, glitter, threads, ribbons, and wooden beads, and even scissors are set inside. Some of those paints? Why, they're even shiny paints, and plenty of them. There are books too, at different crafting levels. From how to make paper cranes, butterflies, flower garlands, and whatever else you might imagine. How about a tree with stars?
Pretend what you want's inside them, and have fun.
Or perhaps you brought your own craft along to the carriage. Whether it's knitting, sewing or anything else creative you'd like to do, there's definitely a place for that as well! It's like there are spots in the carriage that have been left intentionally empty for people to sit down with their own tools and work.
MEMORY WALL;
- Very, very simple folded animals have been put on the corners of where the netting is displayed, stretched out to make the most of the hanging that the netting provides (you have to get creative with what you can buy).
Looking it over, there's already what seems to be names on cards, placed around different parts of the netting. Perhaps you may recognize some of the names as people who have been on the train before, but have since left.
CAKE;
- Of course there's cake. How else would they tempt people to come and sit down? There's one large cake made out of rainbow and sprinkles, and then a collection of cupcakes, all a mix of colours and whatever shakeable edibles has been decided to be plopped on top.
There's also a few plates of simple yet sweet biscuits cut into a variety of shapes (cat heads, dogs, dinosaurs, and even...a train), some with light icing, some not. The quality is about what you'd expect from some kids having fun in the kitchen, and the recipes are simple for it. Don't worry; you might have glitter and sprinkles dropping onto your lap with whatever you pick up, but the shakers were about all anyone went wild with in the kitchen than the baking.
Mami's helped to bring along refreshments in offering different flavours of tea, and there's even a few flavours of coffee to pick from too.
So grab a cuppa, a piece of cake, and have fun pretending you're five and in art class again and create a masterpiece.
Or even show others how to.

[ Even Madoka can't stretch the definition of 'pretty' enough to apply that to him without feeling kind of bad about it, but she can at least say that with some conviction. She's grabbing a pencil first to try and sketch a version of him on the paper before she'll start using the blue paint for it later. ]
You look like a real adventurer, straight out of a story!

My boy tried to look like that kind. I guess he pulled it off with how many women he got mad at him. [He shakes his head at his little dumbass. His little dumbass who is several inches taller than him but still his boy, wherever he is.]
I had this thing tailored so I'll thank ya for the compliment. [He assumes the compliment is for the fashion sense rather than, you know, him.]
no subject
Oh.. no, sir! It's not just your outfit! [ Though his Ravager gear does make him look very cool too. It's a bonus. ] It's more.. um, everything about you, if that makes sense..? From your face, to the clothes, to the way you talk..
[ Just the complete package. ]
People always acted as if aliens would be really scary if they ever showed up on Earth, but you're just a cool-looking nice person instead. [ Same with Piccolo. Maybe this is an alien trend. ]
no subject
Thank ya, Angel. If you think I'm cool then I reckon I am.
[He still stands by the idea that he is not nice, though. They're just lucky that he's been pretty well behaved in a space full of kids rather than bastard idiots.]
So you think I'm good enough that I could convince someone that I-
[Why, Yondu, are you askin' this child this? Shut your sinful face and get drawn.]
Y'know, nevermind. I wanna see what ya do.
no subject
Even as he speaks up again, she's still drawing without looking up from the paper as she speaks. Even though she's definitely curious why he's cutting himself off like that.. ]
It's okay. You can tell me. [ She can listen and draw at the same time! ] You don't have a problem, right..? Or.. um.. is this about Mary Poppins again?
no subject
Nah, nah nah...
[He manages to lower his voice between the chuckles, though, shoulders occasionally shirking with them.]
There's just someone I respect a whole lot that I made myself into a fool when I was talkin' to 'em? [Respect is the right word.] But I ain't gonna talk about it no more [he drops his voice even lower and leans in, nose all wrinkled up in a slight- (if amused) cringe] -cause he's in this room an' if I ain't careful I'm just gonna make it worse.
[He straightens up then.] Like I said, don't you worry your li'l' pink head over it. Probably won't turn out to be nothin' anyway.

[ She repeats the word - though softly, at least! - because something about it feels.. odd in this context. Sure, Madoka doesn't know everything about Yondu, not by a long shot, but she does like to think she has a general idea of what the man is like.
He doesn't seem like the type to get all like.. that just over someone he respects. Not wanting to talk about it openly. Whispering with her. Feeling like an idiot while talking to them.
Madoka leans in a little closer this time, her drawing momentarily abandoned on her lap. ]
Mister Yondu.. Do you have a crush?
[ Look, sometimes Madoka can be a little perceptive too, okay. Even though the thought of this is extremely wild and surprising. But what else could make a guy like Yondu act like this? ]
no subject
[He motions around his head as he watches ever cool point he earned earlier just leak out of him like a stuck balloon and his whole sense of sparkly hoodie-wearing dignity go flying around the room.]
...stupid. I don't know what I'm doin'.
[This is not a life skill he ever had to learn.]
no subject
Or at least something on a similar level to have Yondu this unsure of what to do. So Madoka shakes her head, her tone a bit more determined, even though she's making sure to keep it quiet so no one will overhear them. ]
It's okay, sir. People don't know what they're doing a lot of the time!
[ The same goes for Madoka herself. ]
But if there's someone you have fond feelings for, you shouldn't feel embarrassed about it. It's a good thing.
no subject
[So he settles on a-] I reckon so. I'll work on it. [-He won't. He knows he won't. But he wants her to think he will. She puts a lot of faith in him and he doesn't want to damage that.]
no subject
[ Of course Madoka believes him. The girl doesn't seem to doubt his words even for a moment. Instead she just smiles - in delight, that Yondu has such sweet feelings for someone, and just because she's glad that he's willing to work on it. ]
I know it can be hard! Honestly, when Ple Two and I started dating, I was really worried about a lot of things too.. But, um, in my experience.. you'll find things just falling into place eventually.
no subject
It ain't nowhere near datin' big. He's just been nice to me. Not a lotta grown people I ain't scared of in some kinda way. I ain't one bit scared of him.
[Well, save for what he's rigging up in his own head.]
But bein' good don't mean I'm any kinda special case. Pretty sure y'all got a lot more invested.
no subject
.. No one has been mean to you here, have they?
[ Madoka is pretty sure that Yondu wouldn't be scared of someone over that, but.. it can't hurt to check, right? After all, she's too fond of him to let him be scared if there's anything she can do about it.
(And nothing about the thought of a very pink young teen helping out a grownass blue alien adult is all that weird to her.) ]
I'll go talk to them, if they have..!
no subject
[It's enough to make him wary, though. Even if they had the cleanest intentions in the world, even Kraglin backtalking him ended with a third of his crew dead. Disputes could mean punishment or having to lie awake and waiting for a knife.]
[His fears may not be accurate, but they come from a very real place.]
It ain't like that. Remember me mentionin' I didn't have it too good when I was your age? Well, sometimes when someone was bein' awful I wanted someone to come in an' help. Nobody ever did, not until I was grown. But when I was with 'im once, I saw this girl havin' a hard time. He didn't hesitate to step up an' defend her. An' I just thought there needs to be more folks like him out there.
[And he's fine leaving it at that if he has to. But it feels odd actually giving that thought voice.]
no subject
But.. aren't you that kind of person too now?
[ After all, he tried to keep her safe back during the last mission, when they had to deal with those disguised demons in the city. Even though it's different from protecting her during a social situation or an argument, Madoka likes to think Yondu would stand up for anyone having trouble on the train. He seems nice enough for it. ]
B-But I guess that means you can still admire it in others!
no subject
[He wants to be better than what left him with the Kree. He's only gotten better by change, coin by coin. It's still something. But then, rather than dwelling and mostly for Madoka's entertainment, he also admits-]
But he got a nicer smile than me to go with it.
[Yeah, he went stupid after being smiled at. Just plumb lost every brain cell he had.]
no subject
Mister Yondu, you really like him a lot..
[ Apparently it's an observation that she's making right now. It's not that she was doubting Yondu's words - if anything, she was assuming he was underplaying his feelings, rather than overplaying them. But people don't just by default pay that much attention to each other's smiles.
Not unless you notice something particularly special about that smile. Something that hits you. ]
Would you like to be around him more..?
no subject
Depends on if he'd want me to.
[That constant fear of being rejected wears on you. He can deal with it... god maybe she's right, he's gonna have to say something to him eventually. Just make sure he keeps that person in some capacity because he needs him around as someone that's a comfort to know.]
[But, on the other hand?]
[Head empty. Man big.]
I dunno. I'll figure it out.
no subject
Because she doesn't want Yondu to just have to sit with these feelings. On the other hand, she doesn't want him to be rejected when it seems like he's been through so much already..
She starts looking more sunken away in thought by the moment, until she finally seems to have a realisation. ]
Should I talk to him? I can.. um, you know! Test out the waters! Subtly! I know it doesn't seem like it, but I can be really subtle, mister Yondu!
no subject
[He gestures over his whole self. What he means by this is that if she goes over there she's gonna draw attention to his bespangled self so please don't go.]
[However, it is also him failing at a refusal.]
no subject
Which means he is allowing her to do it. Because that's how it works, right? Yondu should've spoken up now, or held his silence forever!
But she does at least understand the hint in his current words, so Madoka just smiles sweetly at her blue alien dad. ]
Ah.. It's okay, I get it!
[ It just means she will have to do it later. ]
Don't worry, mister Yondu. I'm not going anywhere. I need to finish this drawing of you, after all.
