(open) art day art day!
Who: Open to everyone, come and mingle!
Where: Garden carriage
When: Kazoo 27
What: For today the garden carriage is turned into a place to get creative.
Warnings: There's cakes. And glitter.
Whether or not you heard Romeo and Madoka's announcement, you'll know about it, unless you avoid the garden carriage somehow for the entire day (and then from then on). The changes are simple, but hopefully something to be built on: an outline made in gold paint that takes the shape of a tree with large curling branches that greets the viewer from the longer width of wall, and a fishing net draped down the length of wall by the nearest entrance, with strings hanging off it for decorations to be added to. Posters seem to be all over the carriage, carrying messages in a childish yet neat handwriting, like "Are you having a fun day? Please vote art so we can have do lots more art together!"
Small sitting pillows have been placed around so people aren't sitting on the bed of stones, and the statues once there moved to other parts of the 'garden', leaving them with sounds of the running water to keep them company.
So, just what is there to do?

THE CRAFTS;
- The group have done their best to get as many art supplies as possible, with two trunks taken from the luggage car, and filled as tidily as possible. Inside one is a variety of papers, from tissue to cardboard, decorated and plain, some that's shiny, and even the kind for origami. There's also some sketchpads set out to the side, for any larger projects.
And in the net trunk is all the rest you'd expect: the fun supplies. Paints, inks, glue, glitter, threads, ribbons, and wooden beads, and even scissors are set inside. Some of those paints? Why, they're even shiny paints, and plenty of them. There are books too, at different crafting levels. From how to make paper cranes, butterflies, flower garlands, and whatever else you might imagine. How about a tree with stars?
Pretend what you want's inside them, and have fun.
Or perhaps you brought your own craft along to the carriage. Whether it's knitting, sewing or anything else creative you'd like to do, there's definitely a place for that as well! It's like there are spots in the carriage that have been left intentionally empty for people to sit down with their own tools and work.
MEMORY WALL;
- Very, very simple folded animals have been put on the corners of where the netting is displayed, stretched out to make the most of the hanging that the netting provides (you have to get creative with what you can buy).
Looking it over, there's already what seems to be names on cards, placed around different parts of the netting. Perhaps you may recognize some of the names as people who have been on the train before, but have since left.
CAKE;
- Of course there's cake. How else would they tempt people to come and sit down? There's one large cake made out of rainbow and sprinkles, and then a collection of cupcakes, all a mix of colours and whatever shakeable edibles has been decided to be plopped on top.
There's also a few plates of simple yet sweet biscuits cut into a variety of shapes (cat heads, dogs, dinosaurs, and even...a train), some with light icing, some not. The quality is about what you'd expect from some kids having fun in the kitchen, and the recipes are simple for it. Don't worry; you might have glitter and sprinkles dropping onto your lap with whatever you pick up, but the shakers were about all anyone went wild with in the kitchen than the baking.
Mami's helped to bring along refreshments in offering different flavours of tea, and there's even a few flavours of coffee to pick from too.
So grab a cuppa, a piece of cake, and have fun pretending you're five and in art class again and create a masterpiece.
Or even show others how to.

madoka | ota
[ Of course the first thing Madoka gets around to doing is drawing. That's what she loves doing the most, after all, although there may be a biiit more glitter involved than there normally would be.
Which is why, if you're walking around, you may suddenly get a smiling Madoka popping up in front of you, holding out a drawing so closely towards you that it's almost touching your nose--
And perhaps it makes you realise just a moment too late that it's filled with glitter.
And that the glitter is now definitely on your face. Whoops. Madoka doesn't seem to notice though, she's just smiling. ]
U-Um.. What do you think of this one?
[ You're never going to get rid of that glitter ever again. ]
(b. crafts 2)
[ But Madoka is here to try out new things too! And she likes the idea of the flower gardlands, and by switching the crafting instructions up a little, she's figured out how to make the paper flowers in a flower crown sort of shape..
And she may have roped you into it as a model. Sitting there while she's busy trying to wrap the paper flowers around your head. ]
Oh, please don't move too much..
[ There's no escape. ]
(c. helping out)
[ But Madoka wouldn't be Madoka if she didn't spend most of the day doing what she loves doing the most: helping out. It means that you can expect help in just about any circumstance. Looking like you need more paint? There's suddenly Madoka with the tubes! Looking like you need an idea of where to start? There's Madoka with suggestions!
In short, if you look even the slightest bit helpless, Madoka will be right there with an eager smile. ]
Don't worry, I can help! [ No matter what it is!! ]

Romeo can't sit still! He's been busy helping mister Tidus and Madoka set all of this up and now people are here and there's so much to do and it's just so much fun!
Does he want to draw or paint or use glitter or fold paper or make a star tree? All of the above but he still needs to be a host so he skips from rock to rock and grins at people. "Do you need any help?"
Or "Do you got enough glitter? We bought lots so I can get you more if you want." Of course at a certain point you could just shake him to fulfil your glitter needs, he is pretty sparkly.
Cake
Of course he can be found at the snack table too! He knows sugary food is only to be eaten in moderation but treats are okay and they worked hard to make everything!
So he will point out tasty things to anyone who looks unsure or offer to make tea and coffee. "I know lots of ways to make it so just say how you want it!"
Hopefully not too much glitter will get into the tea...
Campaigning
Maybe you noticed the posters, or are just stood conveniently near them. Here is a sparkly Romeo with a huge grin on his face. "It's fun isn't it? Imagine if we had a whole carriage where we could have fun like this every day! I bet that would be so cool!"
Or if you are more the serious adult type. "It's a bit messy isn't it? But if we had a carriage for art then all the glitter would stay in one place!"
campainging
"Well, it's hard to argue with that!"

(If anyone is worried about a flour shortage, she's willing to order some more, but she didn't make that much.)
"Wow, you guys have been busy!" she sounds genuinely impressed at all the little paper crafts. And the memorial wall is very sweet, even if she didn't know that many people. At least there's some consolation that these people are just gone and not, you know, gone, and that they had such an impact on their lives even in a brief time.
Who cares about property damage! They're learning! There's always a little bit of risk that comes with science. (Realistically there's not actually a lot of harm that can come from that.)
"Make sure not to hit anyone in the face." Is her advice that she offers one of the listeners. Hey, there's the chance that this could be something useful to know during a mission.

Ken (& Wormmon)
Buggy feet pitter-patter across the ground, up the wall, along the ceiling. Globs of glitter glue and paint mark every wiggle.
A much more technicolored Ken Ichijouji than usual holds up his hands in a placating but futile gesture as Wormmon, covered in paint and glitter and other art supplies, streaks around the room in a panic.
"It's following meeeee!!! I'm sorryyyyyyy!!!!"
"Wormmon---"
Ken blinks, glitter stuck to his own face, threatening to get into his lashes. And a sign on the table is marked with plenty of bugprints. They'd talked up being able to make a sign for their roommates! Kitty-san is counting on him!
How could this have happened?!

"Uh... Do you need some help?"
Guilmon was already cheering Wormmon on. Look how bright all the colors were now!

Ple Two - OTA
Ple Two really isn't sure what she's doing here - there hasn't really been the chance for this until they bought it all and planned this day, and of course she was merely seen as a weapon in her past life. Now, she has time to just fool around with paints, and she ends up with a few sheets of paper covered in swirling colors, mixing and melding together as she tries to see what she can create.
Aside from those, there's a dark sheet with white pinpricks on it drying, the beginning of a painting of outer space, that she's not quite sure what she's going to add to. Perhaps a colony, or the repurposed asteroid that was her faction's home base, or maybe just more colors. Once she gets better, perhaps she'll try people, but she's sticking with what she knows for now.
Cake!
Mostly smaller snacks in her case, though, nibbling on cookies and sipping tea while she looks at the rest of the decorations - or peers over someone else's shoulder to see what they're doing, what you can create with all of these supplies. It's been a while since she's really felt like she had this huge a hole in her understanding of life compared to others here, and rather than run from it she's just trying to take in as much as possible to catch up a little.
Art
Romeo peered over at her painting, careful not to get too close should h smudge it or get glitter on it.
"That's so pretty!"

[Lea's first thought upon seeing the temporary art room was 'wow, this will take awhile to clean up'. But that problem is currently in the future.
For now, he sets himself to making some origami. His first few attempts result only in a crumpled mess; it had been awhile since he'd last tried to do something like this. But he soon has a few paper cranes to his name and is working on trying to make some paper stars. Which reminds him; he's been meaning to ask Kairi about how to make good luck charms like hers. Knowing what they represent, he thinks it might be a good project for him and Xion.
Also he wonders if he can turn some of the garden car's sand into glass and make things out of that? Though that would have to come with a 'don't try this at home' warning for anyone not fireproof...]
Cake
[The rainbow cake is impressive, but Lea's not really feeling that much frosting today. Thus he decides on a couple dinosaur shaped biscuits- because being dinosaur shaped makes them clearly superior- and a cup of tea. He then tries to find a spot somewhat outside of the chaos zone where he can sit down and enjoy them; he likes his tea glitter-free, thanks.]

Here's Romeo. Very covered in glitter with a huge grin on his face as he peers at the cranes that Lea is making.

[ There's a reason he left this kind of thing to Prompto. Or Ignis. Or even Gladio. Gladio had a little sister - surely he'd be better at this than Noctis was. ]

Nozomi | OTA
Nozomi can't help but look at the all the stuff set up. The garden car was now arts and crafts! She hadn't seen stuff like this since she was younger... er, memory-wise. The younger side of her couldn't help but feel excited over this so she'll be trying her hand at making her own bit of art.
Of course, something as simple as origami birds will look like disasters. She was never good at much anything.
Cake:
After numerous failures at art, the messy visage of Nozomi is busy nomming on some cake. Sweets are awesome and she has to enjoy it as much as she can.
"Wow, this is really good." she mused. "Who made this?"

Casper's seen the other crafts, but he's on a mission. He's got a pair of scissors from the supplies to help out, cutting rounded star shapes out of some fabric using a paper template. After cutting out a few he takes two of them and puts them pattern-side in, starting to sew around most of the edges. After he's gotten one mostly done he pulls out some stuffing and flips the star inside-out to hide most of the stitching after he stuffs it.
Of course it's also easy to find him standing around the suitcase with ribbon in it, thinking. "Hmm... which color do I want..." Maybe yellow? Or blue, to match. Or... maybe multiple colors? He's not sure. He has a lot of these to make, after all.
Food, Glorious Food
Casper is absolutely delighted at the rainbow cake. He's got a big slice and a cup of tea with him, and also some iced cookies... his supplies are put away for right now, and he's just sitting and watching the others. Mostly the kids - he hasn't had a ton of interaction with kids over the past few years other that Rosie who is... very strange.
There's a fond little smile on his face, but he's willing to talk to people in between getting frosting all over his face. ... He should probably grab a napkin.

Spider | OTA
She's mostly here to enjoy herself, but she did promise sewing activities. She's a spider of her word! Before she starts on her own stuff, she sets a thick white blanket down on a section of stones and fills it with her old sewing kit with its needles and spools of colourful thread, and a small pile of pre-made blank handkerchiefs. They're dainty and spotless, begging to be filled with stitches.
Her example is already finished for display, a pale yellow handkerchief with a catfish and a seahorse swimming through curls of red, black and orange that might be lava. In sloppier, jaunty stitches are embroidered the words it could be worse!.
MEMORY WALL
After a while, a few more cards join their brethren on the netting if they aren't already there. The elves in their multitudes, the Thunderstorms, Caster, Dark Elf Guy, Yuffie, Guy With Bird, Misa... that creepy bird-robot thing that she never learned the name of...
She takes that one down twice before creepy birdbot is finally left to hang with the other cards. Probably should have tried to learn people's names, huh?
Nah.
And also some wonky paper spiders creep into the borders.
CAKE
Arrayed around her is a little bit of everything from the picnic spread. She's keeping herself under control, limiting herself to a bite here and a bite there as she works her way through various crafts.
Like now, as she absently dunks a dinosaur biscuit into her tea. Ah, wait, Kumoko... that's your paint water--

Beetlejuice | Beetlejuice the Musical, OTA
Beetlejuice was adding glitter to his nails. And hair. And jacket. Basically, the demonic equivalent of a toddler has gotten into the glitter and is making an epic (but, sparkly) mess.
Cake
"Isn't this great?!" Beetlejuice plopped down as close as he could manage, beside an unsuspecting victim. He crammed a few goodies into his mouth and continued, spraying crumbs.
"Muh freakin' wuv cake." He flashed his newest friend a fangy smile. "Don't you?!"
Mono | Little Nightmares | OTA!
[Art day is a little chaotic, there are a lot of people. Mono used to give absolutely anything to not feel so alone but now it seems there are crowds everywhere he goes. While they certainly aren't enemies they are far too reminiscent of past danger. It's hard to feel at ease. Still... he has to try.
The passenger sits with three sheets of paper, digging a crayon down hard and covering the page in what can only be described as a nightmarish sworl of creepy looking eyes. He doesn't seem particularly happy about it, hardly looking as he scribbles eye after messy eye spilling from one page onto another. Maybe uh... maybe suggest something else for him to draw?]
B.) Plenty of Paper
[Origami is a lot more enjoyable. These are shapes he recognizes. A paper airplane and a boat already have been crafted and now he looks to be studying if this cube-cup page is anything like his paperbag. They aren't particularly pretty, certainly on the crude side but with his tiny dexterous fingers Mono certainly can make precise crisp folds! He's willing to share if you need to see the book. What one do YOU like?]
C.) WILD/The spirit of things
[Kids are messy. Given how any child usually gets art materials all over their hands it was almost guarenteed that when Mono got into it, well, he would literally get into it: There is paint on his polo, his hoodie is tied around his shoulders like a makeshift cape, glitter is on his bag accompanied some smudges of rainbow cake as well. He looks like a tiny Art warrior, and if he spots you needing any assistance he will be quick to provide! Messily, sparklingly provide. Or at least try to.]

Link | Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
Link was fascinated by the array of goodies. He took a cupcake and sat down with it, munching happily as he observed his fellow passengers. He was trying hard not to get icing all over himself, and mostly succeeding. After thinking it over for a minute, he took a cup of tea as well, settling back down once he'd obtained it.

Prompto Argentum | OTA
Despite what one might think looking at Prompto, he enjoyed art. Anyone who knew him he was a photographer, but he dabbled in other things when they caught his interest. This train had little to do anyway.
It was all too easy to come to the art event and peruse an origami book.
“Oh Em Gee!” Prompto squealed a little bit. Right there. On that page. Was an origami chocobo.
“I have to make this!”
He selected a couple of sheets of yellow paper and started the careful work of attempting such an intricate design.
II. Cake
Prompto was tempted by the rainbow cake. He’d been curious about it before and what was a little treat?
Besides, he felt like he was doing enough activity that a treat couldn’t hurt.
He selected coffee and cake and sat down with a wide grin. “This looks pretty good.”

[ Kitty was more than happy to be there, getting to see people joining and having fun. Plus she promised Madoka and Romeo that she would drop by, and she would hate to disappoint them.
For the most part, she settles in a corner with the knitting kit she'd bought from the train shop, working on a simple knitting stitch with some blue yarn. The piece that she's knitted already is...rather uneven, with a small gap or two in a few rows, showing that she's added and dropped a few stitches here and there. Her expression is one of pure concentration, as she carefully tries to pull the stitch through without dropping another one. ]
B. Crafts 2
[ When she grows
frustratedtired of knitting, Kitty decides to take a break and experiment with some of the paints. Because as much as she hates to admit it, some of the shiny paints really catch her eye.She doesn't really have a picture in mind when she starts out, though, mostly just trying out colors and seeing what comes out. She's not much of an artist, but eventually some shapes take form that somewhat resemble something; a person here and there, a school building, maybe a dragon in the corner.
...she's not really sure, either. ]
C. Cake
[ Kitty can't help a small laugh to herself as she looks over the refreshments. It does remind her a lot of the result of kids making something in the kitchen. But then, isn't that what today's supposed to be fore anyway?
Taking a small piece of cake and a dinosaur biscuit, Kitty takes a break from art and relaxes off in a corner to eat and try out some of the different tea. ]

Hera hadn't set out to join in on art day. But when she stopped by she couldn't help stopping to watch the creativity. She's no artist herself but she's spent enough time around one that she's developed a certain appreciation and will gladly admire everyone's handiwork. "That looks great!"
She likes the part where it's not on her walls, for one thing.
Crafts 2
Eventually Madoka's enthusiasm rubs off and she decides to try her own hand after all. She's not going to try to capture anything realistic, but she has paint and is at least trying her hand at more abstract designs.
Cake
The refreshments earn another smile. Definitely kids in the kitchen. No reason to think it won't taste fine, even if it's an awful lot of sugar. "Well this is cheerful."
Cake
"It's a good reminder that train-life isn't just about the mission, you know?"

[Rapunzel always did enjoy a good craft or two... or twenty if she was perfectly honest. She had a looot of time when she was in the tower after all, it was the only thing she could do. So rapunzel was going to make the most of this thing and do all the crafts.
The first one was her usual: Painting, but her painting this time was more based on what she was seeing in front of her more than things like flowers and birds and just memories she has with others.
Once she sets up she looks over.]
Sorry if I bother you, just keep doing what you are doing.
Craft B
[Rapunzel's next craft was making various things with paper. This was a new one for her if she was perfectly honest, but it seemed fun and something she was picking up on rather quickly. She seemed happy holding up her garland.]
What do you think of this?
