OTA Purple Team Meeting!

What: So you’re in Purple Team. What now?

[ An ICP call is made out towards the end of breakfast, announcing that the meeting will be in half an hour for Purple Team, and they should use the SCA’s countdown timer to know what that is; this’ll be a particularly good meeting for any newbies. Half of the sports gymnasium has been reserved for this simple gathering, a collection of the double-chairs from the music carriage unbolted and borrowed, and a few people already stand waiting for the meeting to begin.

A table has been set out with some cups and a jug of water, and some sheets of the Purple census. Also, let's be real: someone brought snacks. Kitty is sitting on the table near the front of the room, her feet swinging lightly. Once things quiet down a bit, she hops off the table and faces out to address everyone with a friendly smile. ]

Hey, guys! My name’s Kitty. Welcome to the meeting for Purple Team. For those of you who are new, I know things might be a little confusing or overwhelming right now, but that’s what we’re here for! This meeting is just to give everyone a bit of information based on what we’ve learned from our time here on the train, and if you have any questions about anything, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. I can’t promise we can give you answers for everything, but we’ll do what we can to help out.

And if you have something you’d like to share, feel free to speak up! These meetings also let us exchange information, so if there’s something you think should be discussed that we haven’t talked about, definitely let us know.

[ Roland stands in quiet contemplation beside Kitty for the most part, laying low and keeping his head tilted down as he reads something from his notebook settled on the table. The only time he brings attention to himself is when he feels the slight dip and pause in the flow of conversation after she speaks. A gentle pivot from one heel leads him to face the gathering crowd with practiced ease, arms crossed over his chest, and a determined expression he seems to wear rather well. ]

On that note, please do consider attending our Purple debriefings before we’re deployed off the train. This is where we assess the information sent over our SCA’s, figuring out who’s better off helping another team, and who will be staying with our group. Any showcase of powers that might be relevant to the task at hand will also be welcome information, so we can support you come game time. [ A beat. Then, a hand gesture. ] That is, if you’re comfortable enough to share it.

[ He glances briefly behind him. ]

Before I forget, there are a couple of things left to discuss...ah, but what am I saying? [ Roland’s lips crack a small, controlled smile, though not lacking in genuine mirth. ] We’ve got plenty of liaisons ready to assist you for any and all questions you might have. [ His memory is stoked, and before retreating behind the table again, he says one last thing in no particular rush. ] For those I have yet to make acquaintances with, my name is Roland Crane. Rest assured that I’ll be doing my utmost to assist this team to the best of my abilities.

[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]

Floor’s still yours, Kitty. Everyone. Please, mingle away.

( ooc: Welcome to the Purple Meeting! Kitty will speak about missions, Roland about Purple roles, Cassie about inventory and team supplies, and Tidus and Inigo about available equipment and training. Soldat will be mentioned as helping with food prep, along with Mami, and anyone willing to help them are asked to approach them one on one.

New or old, if your character wants to speak about anything, give their own advice, ask questions, do so! People will be encouraged to share their skills, and also to offer any training - combat or otherwise - they're willing to teach. )

Breakin' our purple hearts by loving and leaving us, huh? [ A grin, but he's here for more than just jokes. ]

Actually... I've been wondering what a gun's like. You up for teaching a complete newbie?

Yeah sure! [ He grins brightly. ] You just have to be careful, but I can tell you all the safety tips, and you'll be fine. You gotta watch how you hold yourself too because it kicks back, you know?

Sounds easy enough to me! We have a bunch of those tiny guns. Pistols? I'm thinking something like that; I wanna use if I'm moving around or at a distance. Kind of a back up to my sword.

[ So no rifles for him. ]

Pistols do it too, just less strong. It's like...the bigger it is, the bigger the kick is. You can use it while moving around, and at a distance, just have to remember to brace yourself. [ He grins, he does in fact have a pistol. ]

Outside of that, uh, you gotta aim. [ That might seem obvious but it's really the most important part. ]

Yeah, like...

[ Here, let Tidus make a mock fingergun, point it elsewhere in the room. ]

Pow! [ Aha! ] Aiming's half the lesson, right? I know it's different, but my aim's great with a ball! Had to practice all the time, so I'm not afraid of the work.

[ eeeeezzzzz town. ]

That probably counts more than you think! [ Prompto is more than willing to introduce Tidus to firearms. ]

Cool, so uh, probably not while everyone's around but we should be able to find something we can set up to try, I hope? Although seems weird to do it in here without like a gun range.

[ If only he could throw bullets like he does a blitzball...!! ]

Desperate times call for desperate measures? [ Okay, teaching him how to use a gun is hardly desperate, and he chuckles, shrugging some. ] But yeah, later! You think this room'll do though? We used to use it as the training room before we got the other gym. People don't play sports as much as other stuff.

[ Unfortunately. ]

[ No Tidus, please, don't throw the bullets. It doesn't work like that! ]

Yeah, I think so. We'll just set up something to be a target that we can put holes into okay and like, make sure we're not facing a door so no one gets hurt. It should be okay.

[ Last thing they want to do is offer friendly fire. ]

Cool! [ Cool cool cool cool. ] I guess you're all ready for the next mission? Nothin' you're worried about?

[ Prompto seemed pretty capable, all things considered. But he might as well ask! ]

Well if it's just beats or daemons, I'm pretty used to that. Should be okay I think!

[ He smiles brightly. ]

I'm a little sorry I can't help more with the team. I know that's not really..fair.

Hey, what are you talking about? You're offering to help with training. That's more than I can do - I can use a sword, but I couldn't teach someone else. Plus, there's plenty of people who can do that here.

[ Better people. No one needs to learn sword moves off of him. ]

Oh man. [ Prompto laughs. ] Don't ask me about sword swinging. I'm kind of shit at it.

[ That's better left to combos with Noctis, frankly. ]

I had a really good teacher.

You had to learn for your prince protecting duties, right? I had to learn on the road - plenty of targets, [ sure, ] but, you know - not the best when it comes to knowing the way of the sword.

[ Said very mystic like, ohhh, so wow, much disciplined. ]

[ He lets out a delighted snicker. ]

Well you know, when I'm out there screwing up my sword stances, I'll remember not to ask you. Yeah, though, I learned for Noct babysitting! [ What, that's technically what it is. ]

Besides, the forces of Lucis all use swords, but the Marshal thought I'd be better with a gun. He was right.

Why'd they pick swords over guns if you guys are okay with them? I would've used a gun way earlier if I could. [ Maybe?

Well, he wasn't going to be picky any way with what he had, surrounded by fiends. But still! ]

I know your place can't be shy with them with the way you were using them last mission.

[ Like, by using them at all. ]

Well, I mean, okay might be a bit of a stretch. [ Prompto admits. ] It's more the kinda thing the Empire uses and nobody likes that, so it would probably bother the citizens. [ Lucis is very gunshy. ]

Noct doesn't mind though if I use them. He knows how to, too. But mostly he's trained in swordplay. I don't really know why Lucis hasn't embraced it. Magic, I'd guess. The Niffs have tech, we have magic.

Ohhhhh. [ An understanding ohhhh, a 'oh, this is sounding really familiar' kind of oh. ]

And the Niffs are the people your guys don't like much? Something like that?

Uhhh, yeah! You could say that. [ He offers a bit of a sheepish smile. ]

Niflheim and Lucis have been at war way before I was born. I'm from Niflheim though, pretty sure about that, but I came to Lucis as a baby. Outside of that I hadn't been outside of Insomnia before our trip. [ His only real exposure to people from Niflheim were refugees in the city. ]

Huh! Hey, I know a few things about sticking to one place too. Didn't see the rest of the world 'til recent - bout a few months before I showed here. [ And now that he thinks about it, he's probably been on the train longer than he was ever in Spira...

let's not think about that. Instead: ] But we had a war like that too. Well - a long time ago. One people who used machines, the other people who used summoners. Magic. Guess wars like that aren't so rare.

Is it? Huh, I guess I never thought about it. Honestly though... [ He trails off a moment. ]

Lucis isn't winning the war. We're not giving up but the Empire's pretty much conquered all of Eos at this point and after they took Insomnia... [ He shakes his head a little. ]

We'll never give up! There has to be a way to beat them, right?

[ ...and isn't that a familiar ending, too. But Tidus smiles - there's nothing to be gained by speaking about that - nodding his head, meeting Prompto's energy. ]

Yeah! It'll be even better if we can get you and Noct back home too. Slinging a prince in the middle of a war on a train? This train owes you two big time!

Totally does! Do you think we could get it to give us something cool as a reward like...like I don't know. Oh maybe I could have my own car.

[ Under absolutely no circumstances should Prompto have is own car. None. ]

Just a car? [ Please. Please! ] How about an airship too? A boat? Your own island!

You know it sent us to this tiny planet that was just one island? You should get a vacation line between there and your world!

[ Prompto should have all the things. ]

[ Prompto can't help but let out a delighted giggle. ]

My own island huh? Sounds pretty fancy to me, I could see myself loving that, and hey Noct would visit all the time because he can fish there!

There we go! [ Tidus says, approval and mirth in his words. ] Make the train work for your time! Your own island for Noct to visit - and you can drive him around in that new car when he isn't fishing!

Oh, and don't forgot the boat. Fishing from the boat. And catching some waves and sun? Ugh. [ He gives Prompto a friendly knock on the shoulder. ] Invite me over sometime! The train can be my taxi.
