OTA Purple Team Meeting!

What: So you’re in Purple Team. What now?

[ An ICP call is made out towards the end of breakfast, announcing that the meeting will be in half an hour for Purple Team, and they should use the SCA’s countdown timer to know what that is; this’ll be a particularly good meeting for any newbies. Half of the sports gymnasium has been reserved for this simple gathering, a collection of the double-chairs from the music carriage unbolted and borrowed, and a few people already stand waiting for the meeting to begin.

A table has been set out with some cups and a jug of water, and some sheets of the Purple census. Also, let's be real: someone brought snacks. Kitty is sitting on the table near the front of the room, her feet swinging lightly. Once things quiet down a bit, she hops off the table and faces out to address everyone with a friendly smile. ]

Hey, guys! My name’s Kitty. Welcome to the meeting for Purple Team. For those of you who are new, I know things might be a little confusing or overwhelming right now, but that’s what we’re here for! This meeting is just to give everyone a bit of information based on what we’ve learned from our time here on the train, and if you have any questions about anything, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. I can’t promise we can give you answers for everything, but we’ll do what we can to help out.

And if you have something you’d like to share, feel free to speak up! These meetings also let us exchange information, so if there’s something you think should be discussed that we haven’t talked about, definitely let us know.

[ Roland stands in quiet contemplation beside Kitty for the most part, laying low and keeping his head tilted down as he reads something from his notebook settled on the table. The only time he brings attention to himself is when he feels the slight dip and pause in the flow of conversation after she speaks. A gentle pivot from one heel leads him to face the gathering crowd with practiced ease, arms crossed over his chest, and a determined expression he seems to wear rather well. ]

On that note, please do consider attending our Purple debriefings before we’re deployed off the train. This is where we assess the information sent over our SCA’s, figuring out who’s better off helping another team, and who will be staying with our group. Any showcase of powers that might be relevant to the task at hand will also be welcome information, so we can support you come game time. [ A beat. Then, a hand gesture. ] That is, if you’re comfortable enough to share it.

[ He glances briefly behind him. ]

Before I forget, there are a couple of things left to discuss...ah, but what am I saying? [ Roland’s lips crack a small, controlled smile, though not lacking in genuine mirth. ] We’ve got plenty of liaisons ready to assist you for any and all questions you might have. [ His memory is stoked, and before retreating behind the table again, he says one last thing in no particular rush. ] For those I have yet to make acquaintances with, my name is Roland Crane. Rest assured that I’ll be doing my utmost to assist this team to the best of my abilities.

[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]

Floor’s still yours, Kitty. Everyone. Please, mingle away.

( ooc: Welcome to the Purple Meeting! Kitty will speak about missions, Roland about Purple roles, Cassie about inventory and team supplies, and Tidus and Inigo about available equipment and training. Soldat will be mentioned as helping with food prep, along with Mami, and anyone willing to help them are asked to approach them one on one.

New or old, if your character wants to speak about anything, give their own advice, ask questions, do so! People will be encouraged to share their skills, and also to offer any training - combat or otherwise - they're willing to teach. )

Cassie Cage | Inventory Management | OTA

She steps forward, standing straight keeping a military stance as she paces slowly across the front of the room like a blonde Patton.

"So here's the way it is. I'm Cassie - I'm the head inventory manager for Team Purple. That means I'm in charge of tracking and distributing all the items in our common stock. If you think Purple is short of something we need, come to me about it. If you buy something from the train store that you want to add to our stock, come to me about it. If you want to check out an item from the armory that comes from our team stock, come to me about it. For every mission before we roll out, come to me for your go-kits. This'll be a package full of essential supplies that you'll need to keep going for a multi-day mission."

She gestures toward the other members of the team as she continues.

"If I'm not available or too busy, Trunks is an assistant manager. Anything you can run by me, you can run by him. We've also got Soldat and Mami on meal prep. But we could always use more help. If there's anyone who'd like to join the inventory team in any capacity, we'd be glad to have you."

She crosses her arms behind her back and nods.

"Alright, I'm done. Any questions?"

Caleb immediately dislikes this woman.

Not through any fault of her own, it's just that she reminds him of too many commanders of the Righteous Brand that he'd seen - stiff and commanding. Not like his father hadn't been similarly stiff, but that had been his father - and had been a long time ago. Nowadays, military types make him nervous, because they just indicate trouble.

Still, he hesitantly approaches her once her speech is done and once she's relaxed a little bit. "Ah... entschuldigen - er. Excuse me. I was wondering if you had a list of inventory supplies? I.. have some unusual components required for my spells, and I was wondering if the inventory here had any of them."

He might be more at ease once he gets to know her better - stiffness is about as far from her usual demeanor as it gets. But a briefing is a briefing, and some things need to be taken seriously.

Cassie smiles slightly. "Sure do. You're welcome to look it over."

She pulls out her manifest and offers it for his perusal.

He nods and takes the list, looking through it. ... At least sixty percent of these things are totally unfamiliar to him, though the explanations help a bit. His frown depends as he keeps reading through, carefully looking through the items and memorizing them as he does. Finally, he reaches the last page and shakes his head, handing it back to her.

"I thought they would not be in here... it was worth a look, at least." And now he has the manifesto memorized, which could be useful later. "I assumed there was nothing like a small brass brazier, but I had hoped there was at least phosphorus or sulfur or licorice root."

"Well, we can put in orders for that," Cassie says. "I could do it myself, if you don't have the points."

[katzenpfote]

"I have... eh. Created a list of ingredients I need." A lot of them are used in various spells so it's... fine. And not all of them are listed, after all.

He pulls out a piece of paper and hands it to her to look at.

Cassie looks it over, nodding.

"I think I've got the points to afford one of at least most of these. We'll have to see how much the store charges."

[katzenpfote]

He blinks in surprise and shakes his head. "Ah... n-no, I can purchase things if that's the issue. I was just wondering if any of these materials were around." Clay and ash shouldn't be too hard, at least?

[nutkrusher]

"Hmm. Some of these might be in the garden car," Cassie says. "It'd be worth taking a look.

"In any case, you're new, so I'll be able to buy more things than you can at the next stop."

[katzenpfote]

"I'll look. Danke... it's difficult to be helpful without... without my magic. I can do some basic spells, but I am a stick in combat." He's aware of it and will at least ot shy away from his weakness there.

"It's why we've got a supply corps," Cassie says. "To make sure everybody's got everything they need to pitch in."

[katzenpfote]

"This is... much more organized than I expected. I am used to dealing with far smaller teams..." Ugh. He misses the rest of the Nein already. "If there is something I can... assist with, I will. Though I admit much of this place is entirely foreign to me."

"Hey, don't sweat it, it's foreign to everyone," Cassie says. "We learned some hard lessons getting our asses kicked before we set up this system, so you won't have to."

[katzenpfote]

"I... even in terms of the machinery here. I am more used to... eh... chamber pots and hand-poured washing." Even in spas you have to cleanup first so you don't totally muddy the waters for others.

"Oh. Well...hopefully it didn't take too long to get the hang of it."

A long pause.

"And I'm guessing that means you're from a place where there's no such thing as trains?"

[katzenpfote]

"Those I figured out rather quickly. There are still many things I've yet to investigate."

He shakes his head at the question. "We have horses or carriages or walking. Teleportation in some circumstances if you are magically inclined or traveling with someone else who is."

Cassie nods. "Well, we'll try to make things as comfortable for you as we can."
