OTA Purple Team Meeting!
Who: Anyone interested in Purple Team, being nosy, whatevs.
Where: Sports gymnasium
When: 2 Llama
What: So you’re in Purple Team. What now?
Warnings: TBA.
[ An ICP call is made out towards the end of breakfast, announcing that the meeting will be in half an hour for Purple Team, and they should use the SCA’s countdown timer to know what that is; this’ll be a particularly good meeting for any newbies. Half of the sports gymnasium has been reserved for this simple gathering, a collection of the double-chairs from the music carriage unbolted and borrowed, and a few people already stand waiting for the meeting to begin.
A table has been set out with some cups and a jug of water, and some sheets of the Purple census. Also, let's be real: someone brought snacks. Kitty is sitting on the table near the front of the room, her feet swinging lightly. Once things quiet down a bit, she hops off the table and faces out to address everyone with a friendly smile. ]
[ Roland stands in quiet contemplation beside Kitty for the most part, laying low and keeping his head tilted down as he reads something from his notebook settled on the table. The only time he brings attention to himself is when he feels the slight dip and pause in the flow of conversation after she speaks. A gentle pivot from one heel leads him to face the gathering crowd with practiced ease, arms crossed over his chest, and a determined expression he seems to wear rather well. ]
[ He glances briefly behind him. ]
[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]
( ooc: Welcome to the Purple Meeting! Kitty will speak about missions, Roland about Purple roles, Cassie about inventory and team supplies, and Tidus and Inigo about available equipment and training. Soldat will be mentioned as helping with food prep, along with Mami, and anyone willing to help them are asked to approach them one on one.
New or old, if your character wants to speak about anything, give their own advice, ask questions, do so! People will be encouraged to share their skills, and also to offer any training - combat or otherwise - they're willing to teach. )

Hey, guys! My name’s Kitty. Welcome to the meeting for Purple Team. For those of you who are new, I know things might be a little confusing or overwhelming right now, but that’s what we’re here for! This meeting is just to give everyone a bit of information based on what we’ve learned from our time here on the train, and if you have any questions about anything, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. I can’t promise we can give you answers for everything, but we’ll do what we can to help out.
And if you have something you’d like to share, feel free to speak up! These meetings also let us exchange information, so if there’s something you think should be discussed that we haven’t talked about, definitely let us know.

On that note, please do consider attending our Purple debriefings before we’re deployed off the train. This is where we assess the information sent over our SCA’s, figuring out who’s better off helping another team, and who will be staying with our group. Any showcase of powers that might be relevant to the task at hand will also be welcome information, so we can support you come game time. [ A beat. Then, a hand gesture. ] That is, if you’re comfortable enough to share it.
[ He glances briefly behind him. ]
Before I forget, there are a couple of things left to discuss...ah, but what am I saying? [ Roland’s lips crack a small, controlled smile, though not lacking in genuine mirth. ] We’ve got plenty of liaisons ready to assist you for any and all questions you might have. [ His memory is stoked, and before retreating behind the table again, he says one last thing in no particular rush. ] For those I have yet to make acquaintances with, my name is Roland Crane. Rest assured that I’ll be doing my utmost to assist this team to the best of my abilities.
[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]
Floor’s still yours, Kitty. Everyone. Please, mingle away.

So yes, Inigo. He's a nerd.
no subject
He nods. See, his story a little more recognizable when he puts it that way. Even though there's no Academy or anything of the sort in Inigo's world, since studying magic is more of an individual thing, there's still.. well, a lot of book reading involved.
This may be the very reason Inigo is so lacking in the magic department.
"One of my friends from back home is like that too. Laurent. He's the mage of our group, and his nose was pretty much constantly in a book. I never studied magic myself though." Please, that requires reading. And braincells.
no subject
Shame? What shame?
no subject
..........
Inigo just stares. Blankly.
He doesn't even say anything. After all, Inigo is from a world where society pretty much collapsed, and even before that, there weren't really book shops around. So the idea of not just a book shop, but a smut shop?
Yeah, his brain has probably shut down. He's currently blue screening up there. Fix what you're breaking, Caleb.

He's still not answering, but his face is slowly starting to grow redder and redder. It's almost like a loading screen, considering he starts speaking up - or rather, sputtering - again once it's grown fully red.
"Y-You can't just.. tell that so casually to the first person you meet! I mean-- I-I of course have so much experience with that as well!"
(No, he doesn't.)
"But s-saying it that easily may make people awkward, or embarrassed!" You know.
People who aren't Inigo. Because he's clearly not embarrassed. Nope.
no subject
He can tell the other guy is completely embarrassed, and it's almost a relief to get to tease someone. "Though if that's not something you have interest in, that's also alright." He's aware that's an option. He suspects one of his group is that way, at least.
no subject
Not like Inigo's actual dad necessarily, since their father-son relationship is.. Awkward. But that's definitely something a Responsible Adult would say, and it's so embarrassing. Please let the void swallow him right this very instant.
"I--I'll just have you know I'm not.. unexperienced with the matter!" (Sure, Inigo.)
no subject
Or whatever the hells the Traveler is.
no subject
It's not helping much.
But what does seem to slightly snap him out of it is that last part. ]
W-Wait.. Why would they do that? [ Even if he can kind of hear the air quotes there, it's still.. ] Wouldn't that be like disrespecting a god?
no subject
He shrugs and shakes his head. "And it's not like we could get away from the dick jokes anyway. Her mother is one of the most famous courtesans around, so... that sort of humor is the type she grew up with."
wow nevermind my weird middle of tag style shift there
Maybe he's falling back a little bit too much into formality, but he's trying so hard to recover from everything from a moment ago here that he can't help it. He's just overcorrecting at this point, and his cheeks are still vaguely pink even now..
"I've never even heard of archfey before. And.. erm, if I may be entirely honest, we don't have bookshops that sell.. erm. You know. That kind of material back in Ylisse either."
it happens!
"I'll explain the Feywids later... and maybe not. But we're both adults, even if you're younger than me. There really is nothing to be embarrassed about."
no subject
"If.. you say so," he says. Still a little flustered, but he's trying to let it fade now, if not just because Caleb is right. They are just two adults talking.. It's just that Inigo's little nervous heart gets flustered way more easily than he'd like to admit to.
"But please do understand-- I am not assuming you are a lord, necessarily. It just means I want to show you due respect for seeming like a good person." He shakes his head. "We could always use more of those here on the train."
Not that they're necessarily lacking those, but every new one helps.
no subject
"And in any case, I am... somewhat uncomfortable with such titles for myself." For various reasons. "Just 'Caleb' is fine."
1/2
(Inigo is still catching up to modern insults, okay.)
But that thought is quickly moved aside by the other thing the guy says, and it makes Inigo look rather awkward. Maybe even outright deflated for a moment, moving a hand up to rub the back of his neck.
"Ah. Alright."
no subject
"Got it. Of course that's no problem! I'll remember it, Caleb! Let me know if you end up having any other questions about life here on the train."
no subject
no subject
That's Inigo's experience with it, anyway. The sheer amount of explanations he's gotten that just made him feel dizzy, rather than everything becoming clear to him, is borderline ridiculous.
"Most of them are so used to these sorts of machines that they don't really understand how to explain them to people who have to start from square one."
no subject
no subject
"Cultural differences." Man, let him tell you all about it. Thankfully it does sound like Caleb's world is a little closer to his own. He can tell some differences already, but Inigo's world seems to be on a similar level of technology, and also with a similar existence of both gods and magic.
"You get used to having to explain really basic concepts after a while. Though I don't talk about gods very often to begin with, some people are kind of odd about it. But I suppose that's what happens when you live in a world that somehow manages to exist without any."
no subject
Not for the first time, he wishes Frumpkin were here. "It's very odd to not see a mix of races here. No dwarves, no half-elves, not even a halfling."
no subject
Sure, they may be rare back home, but considering he's been around at least one of both for so long, it's odd to go without.
"Instead there's.." Inigo's voice trails off, and he gasps. Oh, right, he should warn Caleb! "I'm not sure if you've met any yet, but there are.. erm.. 'robot people' here. They're entirely made of metal, rather than flesh. It can be incredibly startling at first, but the one I met was very kind!"
no subject
no subject
"See, that's what I mean! Just.. look around, ask around about things. Don't feel like you have to be in some rush to catch up with everything at once. Take your time, I'd say that's the best advice I can give you here about how to approach this entire situation."
