[ DAY 16 ; armoury car ]
"Heyyyy. Uh, so it looks like the train added the lockers I was hoping for. Since Light left, and Tobes's been gone for a while...," Tidus adds with a mutter, already not sounding that pleased, "--I'm puttin' everything from the supplies into them, 'kay? The healing, shields and weapons. There's a tablet with a list of what everything does and how to use 'em. It's voice-automated too.
So...yeah. That's it. See ya."
It's far from confident, the usual casual-sounding that's Tidus been heard over the ICP, but it's on par to whenever he talks about supplies. Lightning's leave already has his mood down, which is an evident sight to anyone who comes to the armoury, where he made the call (and then switched off, not interested in holding a conversation over the thing). There's nothing exciting going on: just suitcases on the ground with their lids open, the array of healing and weaponry waiting revealed inside that's to be stuffed away.
Maybe you come because of the announcement; maybe you're just passing by. You might hear a "shit!" hissed when one of the finger-sized bottles go rolling towards the other side of the carriage from where Tidus is. His movements are sluggish, and he wears an unguarded, doleful look, uncharacteristically quiet. Unless he notices anyone lingering, or just catches someone's eye -- then he'll pull on a smile, and give a simple "Hey."
Or, he's just taking a second to look at locker and its supplies once it's filled, his back to another locker, sitting on the floor. And you might hear him say-
"Hope you kick that god's ass, Light."
[ DAY 17 ; training gym - standard coach ]
- ( a: treadmills
But he's being better by the next day, or seems to be. In the early morning he's in the training gym, pulling odd square containers out by a wall, with what appear to be bars curled around the sides. To anyone whose attention he gets, he offers cheerily: "Hey, how about a go on one of these?"
It takes some pressing in the right places, and then, the 'box' stars to unfold, turning rectangular while the bars raise - and it turns into what's essentially a treadmill.
"Ever seen one of these?"
Or, he could already be running on one, while the second sits there, a spare waiting to be used. Hop on! Tidus won't stop you.
( b: standard coach - blitzball )
There's a few close CR he might push to join him, but if you're friendly with Tidus and you happen to passing through, he might usher a hand, stop you from where you were going.
"Hey, hey! Wanna see me in a blitzball match?"
He's at a table, a device rolled out and a picture taking up the entire 'screen' and an energy drink open. There's footage similar to this to behold (note: without city destruction), with Tidus perhaps present an outfit like this, and his hair blond. Or, you might even get a chance to see him a year younger, in an outfit the same the rest of his team -- and with his hair a brown.
"Oh man!" He says through a laugh. "I can't believe it got video of me like this! This was when I was starting off!"
[ DAY 18 ; sports gym/games car ]
- ( attempt a: whomp whomp )
Tidus has got a plan. He's had a plan for a while, thanks to Roland, but now is the time to achieve it. It starts somewhere around morning to noon, after breakfast. There's notices slapped on the outside of the sports gym doors, written in fat felt.'USING THE SPACE 2 MAKE A POOL'
'SWIMMING POOL INSIDE'
One on one side, one on the other. You might get to read them, before the troubles, or after. What are the troubles? That would happen to be when a sound like the equivalent of a bomb going off sounds from inside the gym, and before the doors can be opened from outside, they slam open from within - and water floods out into the hallway, possibly knocking anyone out there off their feet.
The good of the situation: the water is only knee-high deep on an adult. The bad of the situation: ...the car is flooded, welcoming any unsuspecting person who welcomes through the sports car (and thank goodness someone moved the transgate back out). Tidus can be found inside the car - that's impressive flooded from one end to another, in swimming shorts and coughing up water, while a blue pal is floating on the water the opposite end, wiggling and squeaking 'hiiigle!! piggle!!' desperately. ( But, they're only visible to those with a good heart/of good intentions. )
A plan may have not gone off right here.
- ( attempt a: dingdingdingding! )
"I've got a pool going in the gym for an hour or two! Come join me if you want!"
But by some miracle, they finally get it right. This pool doesn't take up the full length of the gym but one half of one side, away from the walls and about half the size going up from the ceiling. Tidus might be seen inside the water, or just enjoying floating above it; his blue pal nowhere but to seen, but for those who sense energy, may be able to discern there being entities with the water, that is otherwise nothing more than fresh, natural water.
Grab some shorts from the spa car, come and gawk, complain about the room being used up or whatever you like. Tidus dives into the water and reaches out of the 'wall' of the water, to a large trunk homing pieces of coral, breaking it off and bringing it into the bizarre pool - where it shatters into pieces, and the water wobbles...in delight??
[ DAY 19 ; sports gym - standard coach ]
- ( a: dance dance dance!! or shoot shoot shoot!! )
Oh no, he's in the sports gym again.
But don't worry, there's no water. This time, there's a holographic figure being projected from a round disk on the floor. About as defined as a wii fit trainer, they stand idle as Tidus - dressed appropriately - flicks through a screen of settings.
"Wanna give it a go with me?" Tidus offers, always happy for company. The dance difficulties he goes for are simple to follow, and there's the option of finding him with Inigo for company, if you want to up the potential for dumery. Two guys just doing repetitive dance moves, and if Tidus happens to catch you staring (though, he really needs to keep his eyes on the coach!), he'll grin and challenge, "Think you can keep up!?", in all his usual daring nature.
( Warning: if Inigo notices a girl/woman looking athimthem, the possibility of him shrieking is 90%. )
But when isn't Tidus like that? Always up to something, and willing to include another. There's a new addition in the games carriage that Tidus has been having goes on, aiming to raise his highscore. Look at this wonderful gameplay.
- ( attempt b: 3am thoughts )
But there's more than only his usual buzzing energy going on with Tidus. He can be found in the standard coach on some of the later nights; another energy drink opened, indulging in a fizziness a guy like him shouldn't be so late. The tablet device sits on a simple stand, while his head rests in his folded arms, watching the blitzball footage.
To some, he just looks focused on whatever he's watching - intensely so. But if he happens to notice anyone come in (a 50/50 chance), he pauses the video, or just brings the device down -- like a guy trying to hide his shame, head turned towards the window, his face a warm pink. He might look back with a not-trying-to-appear-awkward "Hey" if he recognises the person - but otherwise, just, you know. Acting like he didn't do that!
Nothing weird about him, bro.
[ DAY 20 ; sports gym (late) ]
- ( note: prompt has some allusions to death, may involve talk related to it; nothing negative/suicidal! )
It's late again, and Tidus has something he wants to find out.
Why? There's a few reasons in his head. A few thoughts have been in his head, leading him into the sports gym, out of the way. He could go somewhere more private like the quiet car, but Tidus likes the sports car, spends most of his time in it. He likes the space and silence, as empty as it is right now.
He has a device on him, and he's counting down the time; his SCA on the floor next to him, in easy reach.
Counting how long it takes for his skin and the rest of him to start to discolour, shimmering into greens and blues; until it becomes see-through, until it gets to a point that it scares him, and he can't countdown any more and needs to grab his SCA again, all he can grab at that point.
But as late a time as Tidus picks to do his experiment, maybe he ends up not the only one there, caught with his eyes on the tablet device, ears not picking up on the doors farther away from him when they open.
Unless the person is particularly loud - then he'll reach for his SCA, and scramble to get it on quickly, the colours across his body fading as a more solid form returns.
[ OTHER DETAILS ]
[ Want to do any of the above but on different days? Treadmills, dance exercise, and gaming are available on any of them! Inigo can also be a 3rd person for dancing. Feel free to message me for any questions/plotting!! ]

"Search folder," he speaks up, at least obviously to the tablet device when he's staring at it. "Speech, Zanarkand Abes."
A line appears across the screen, a small loading bar before it disappears. Files in the folder get smaller while others increase in size, and Tidus presses on one, enlarging some of the way to listen to the preview it shares. '...and the Zanarkand Abes have the lead...!' mingled in with cheering.
Tidus taps at it a second time, shooting up the size. A similar start up happens showing the stadium, the two teams standing on the outer ring of the sphere pool. He hurries it up some, and there he is...with his hair brown instead of blond.
"Oh, man! My hair was so boring...! Okay, you can't make fun!"
Instructions that come with nudging Inigo beside him, while a commentator mentions- '...and the son of the ever famous Jecht from the previous generation of Abes! We've been seeing good stuff...'
no subject
Thankfully the video is a lot easier to follow when everyone isn't moving every which way yet. With the players just standing there, Inigo can just take a look at it, his eyes growing wider as he tries to take it all in.
Including with Tidus in his - what the other apparently deems as 'boring' - hair. Inigo doesn't think Tidus's hair is boring no matter the colour, but the other being so excited and saying that Inigo can't make fun of him make a laugh spill out from across his lips.
"Oh, hush! You're fine!"
It's just funny, Tidus maybe being a tad self-conscious for one. As if Inigo would really make fun of him over this, when the other has been nothing but supportive of his own dance hobby.
"Wow.." It's so strange to see Tidus like this. Just a little younger. "That uniform is kind of like my dance outfit! You know, with the sleeves, and the.." His voice trails off, but he moves his hands halfway across his chest. He's indicating the only-tiddy-covering shirt, yes.
no subject
But for now, Inigo was getting to view him when he wasn't a special little swimmingflake.
"It's all flashy, huh? Look, this is how they start up the pool-"
It might be strange to call a blitz sphere a pool to Inigo, but there's an electrifying light bundling in the centre of the stadium, in the middle of where the two teams stand around. The 'camera' moving outward, when then there's a great big light, and from it a pool hovers, defying gravity.
Tidus laughs, giddy from just watching it. "Now that's a blitz pool!"
no subject
It's kind of weird, sure, because Inigo already had to get to the idea of a pool in the first place, considering swimming in Ylisse was at best just done in rivers or in the sea when people did swim, but this looks different yet again from the concept of a pool he's managed to gather.
For one, he's pretty sure they're supposed to be flat, not.. shaped this way. They're supposed to be like the hot springs they were at before, right? Not like this!
"And you stay in it the whole time?"
At least Inigo doesn't sound super weirded out by it, though it sure is a concept to try and wrap his head around. More than anything, he just sounds curious. This is such an important part of Tidus's life, of course he wants to make sure to properly understand it.
no subject
Because any other shape would be inferior. Except the diamond, but that's far too many corners and not as much space! And also, useless for swimming in. Regardless. "You can get thrown out if you're knocked hard enough, that can be exciting - but then you're expected to get right back in if you can."
So that's one way you can end up not being in the pool. During this time, the two different teams have jumped off from the ledges and dived into the pool, swimming to take opposite positions from one another, save for two who come into the centre: Tidus, and the other team's shooter.
"Ehh - I miss grabbing the ball, but the other guy got lucky! This was just a fluke."
...Tidus might be getting ahead of his commentary, given there isn't even a ball in the water yet. But it materialises a few seconds after Tidus has done speaking, appearing as if out of thin air. Sitting there, a beeping of a countdown made, and it starts to spin- before a larger BEEP!, and up it flies, Tidus and the other blitzer going to grab it.
It's the opposition who gets it, knocking back Tidus's hand that goes to grab him with a sharp shoulder, turning and swimming off!
no subject
Instead he tries to focus back on the game, especially as it's starting now. All of them moving into the water, Tidus's - the actual Tidus sitting here next to him - commentary. The two going for the ball, and then suddenly everyone starting to swim all at once, the ball starting to move.
"Hey, don't spoil it!" Inigo tells Tidus, but it's obviously just a joke, judging by the tone Inigo says it with. He's more than happy to hear Tidus's view on this entire deal, anyway. Even if he's a minute or so ahead of the game.
But while the game is getting a bit more complex, and therefore a little harder for Inigo to follow, he figures he might as well ask a question that's on his mind.
"Why were you the one who got to do that? You know, the.. the one-on-one ball knocking thing."
no subject
And that's helpful, for his question. "It's 'cause we're their lead shooters! That means we're the people you want for making the goals, moving around people and sending the ball to another person quick if you have to." Does Tidus need to explain positioning and roles in Blitzball? Because he's going, waving a finger at the screen.
"You saw how we started, right? Three people round the middle section, two back, and then a person at the goals. The three are fielders - we're best at moving the ball around, so you want us for passing the ball between us, and making sure the other team don't get it. The next two are defenders - they're for helping to get the ball back, or blocking the ball from getting in our goal. You following?"
no subject
But it's not like Tidus is making this all up on the spot, so Inigo really tries to listen and absorb the knowledge. Honestly. His brain is crunching away here.
"I think so.. But I thought everyone just went after the ball."
That's kind of what sports seemed like, every time he tried - emphasis on tried - to play some with Tidus in this place.
"Is there really that much thought behind it?" He doesn't even say it in an insulting way, like he can't believe sports require this much thought.. it's just that it's all new to him! And wild!
no subject
"'Course there is! If you wanna win, sure, you can just go for it." He waves a hand to indicate this. "But even then, you're thinking about how to move, and where. Everyone has a part to play! Me, I'm better at shooting the ball, taking hits if I have to, but I'm not so good at stopping other players. Plus, you want to think about where you start on the field, or where's the best place you want to be... it's even the same in fighting, right? You want the magic users behind you, and you play defence and get in close. But they can defend you too by watching your back."
He's been moving his hands all through this - one hand for where the swordsmen are, one hand where the magic users are.
"People move and do what they're best at. You let people do what they're good at, and you do what you're good at." There's a pause, and then he huffs, grinning at Inigo.
"That's what some of them here wish they could do with the teams, but it's impossible! But, you trust people to do what they're good at anyway!"
no subject
A part of him wants to say that there's a huge difference between a game of sports and an actual battlefield - but it feels like that might tread on something that's sensitive to Tidus, so he doesn't. Of course these games were very important to him, even if they aren't quite matters of life and death as much as Inigo's daily battles were. It doesn't feel right to compare the two - not in any direction.
It still renders him quiet. Just for a moment, considering the nauseating feeling that always comes over him when he thinks of the past. (Or, well, the future. The future past.)
"Guess I'll never be able to play blitzball with you then," he instead lightly jokes by the time he speaks up again, exhaling so he can put a smile back on his face again. "You can't give a position based on what you're good at to a guy who can't handle being near a ball without getting hit by it!"
no subject
See, that beautiful logic? The quiet moment come and gone, and not long enough for Tidus to even realise it was there. And when it comes to blitzball, Tidus can talk easily, whether or not he's understood. "--And we'll have to train you to make a good pass, so you can throw it my way, and I can make the score!"
For a game that will never happen, a life entirely behind him. But Tidus doesn't think about reality, except for when he nudges Inigo, and shares, what's more possible in this timeline:
"But in a fight? I'd have you with me, side by side. The two of us with our swords, watching each other's backs! It's a perfect position!"
And he knows a few things about those! (No he doesn't.)
no subject
There's no way Inigo couldn't smile at that. Genuinely.
"I don't know, it might be fun to play blitzball together with you too, sometime." If they'd ever get the chance. Probably not, considering how miniscule the chance is to ever come across a world other than Spira that actually has the sport, but..
.. you never know, right?
"Even though you know I'm not really a sports guy! But.. you always look so vibrant whenever you talk about blitzball, Tidus. You look so happy, and energetic.. And that's what I really like about you, you know?"
N-No homo, bro. JUST BROMO. JUST ADMIRATION, BRO, H-HAHA!
"It'd be fun to be part of something you love so much for once."
no subject
"Well then, tell the train to take us to a blitzball stadium! Or giving us a big car - one with a blitz pool! The water's good for swimming... oh! You know, back in Spira-"
He's got a finger pointed in Inigo's direction, but it's for his story than at the guy.
"--there's a place: the Macalania Springs. There's so many pyreflies there, that the water's like air. It's like floating! You feel the water... but it's all dream-like. You could swim and breathe in water like that easy!"
And even have your very own makeout scene there.
"That's what we want -- a pool of water like that!"
no subject
Even though Inigo is pretty sure that if they get any pool at all, it'll probably be a whole lot more like the hot springs they went to. Except deeper.
"You want us to put a blitzball carriage on the poll?" And yes, the poll sucks, but Inigo is here to skip over that part, okay. Instead he just smiles. "I think we'll have some major campaigning to do then. We might have to enlist Roland."
no subject
Oh no, the kids. The beaming expression drops as he remembers them, Romeo and Madoka, their big kid eyes and their good-natured hearts that want so badly an art car. Kids who've been on the train longer than him and trying to get it!
Watch as the guilt shows on him in real time, a groan drooping with his arms on the table, folding to support his now slouching weight.
"I caan't... we should be getting them an art car, not a pool car! They deserve it! They want one so bad, Inigo! You remember that art day they put together? I don't even know how close we are to getting one for them though...!"
no subject
It's not accompanied by a drop of his mood or anything similar to that though. No, instead he just turns quiet for a moment, as if he's considering this sight in front of him. Tidus looking like a particularly guilty and whiny puppy, all for the sake of the kids on the train - and Inigo knows that he always gets along well with them, even looks out for them.
"Well, that shouldn't be a problem, right? First we get them an art car, and then we organize that blitzball car!" It's said with a joking tone, since it's mostly just a joke, though Inigo's tone seems to sober up a bit more a second later when he continues. ".. you really want to get them that art car that badly?"
no subject
He knows he's pleading to the wrong person, but it's the right person he came admit his selfishness to. He really wants the pool car for himself, the art car for the kids -- Taiki too, and Rapunzel! And they can buy all the supplies ever for art and use them in the different cars, but water and swimming is a different story.
"But why not, right? Romeo, Madoka, Rapunzel, Taiki... they've been here longer than me. And each one of them are the type of person to vote for others before them."
He bets it. Those selfless people, them!
no subject
There's something about that wow that immediately makes it already clear that he's about to make a joke, especially with the way Inigo starts to stretch out casually where he's sitting next to Tidus.
"You think about that, but you didn't see the 'dance' option on the last one and think, you know what, my good old pal Inigo deserves something nice? I've been on the train longer than Taiki has, you know!"
.. it's not a joking attitude he can keep up for long though, because it's really hard to pretend to be thinking about himself here. So Inigo drops it, instead just laughing.
"It's fine though. As soon as they have their art car, we can just start voting for the pool, right? It's just annoying that we have to wait so long each time for the poll to come back up in the first place."
no subject
And yet.
And yet the moment Inigo speaks about the dance poll option, he looks frantic and then embarrassed, like he just got told he missed Inigo's birthday. A look that doesn't entirely wipe his face despite Inigo going into normal mode.
Broooo, it's only because the dance car's a new option bro...!! Bro!!!
"I guuuuesss," he drawls, sounding more pouty mopey than he was before. A beat, and then, with eyes on Inigo- "We could try buying a pole...dance thing?"
Just for you, bro??
no subject
But once Inigo does get it, he just lets a hearty laugh escape him, before gently patting Tidus on the shoulder. Clearly he's unbothered.
"Hey, it's fine. The train just put it on there because I asked for a dancing spot with a bit more privacy, so I don't have to feel so worried every time I sneak into the music carriage." Not like he needs a poledancing pole!
.. though it'd be fine of fun, he guesses.
"I've already gone without for so long by now though that it's fine. Your pool is way more important, considering it's not like you can just swim without water! And I want to swim too!"
no subject
Right where the platform is, exactly where a dancing pole should be, if Tidus knew anything about pole dancing. Was there anything they could buy now that they had the larger option for items? Other than a pole. What else was dance-like...
That would take some more thought for Tidus's less than dance-cultured brain to work out.
no subject
A moment later his mouth opens, and then closes. He just needs a moment to figure out how to put this delicately. Because he knows Tidus, and he knows the other is going to insist on this whole idea if Inigo replies in the wrong kind of way. Though it's really, really hard to figure out if there's even a 'right' kind of way here in the first place.
Feeling his cheeks heat up, he glances away from his friend.
"I.. am not going to use a pole like that to dance where people can see. Sure, it's fun, but.. it's even more embarrassing than regular dancing!" Overcoming his anxiety to dance in the music carriage during quiet moments? That much he can do if he tries really hard, but poledancing under the same circumstances? Just murder him. It'd be a quicker and more merciful death.
"That's exactly the sort of thing that would be nice to have in a more private dancing studio."
no subject
"If you say so." But even as he concedes, it doesn't take more than a few seconds for Tidus to be sighing. "Man, I wish we could just fix these problems easy. By not being on a void-travelling train, for one. Somewhere with a dance studio for you, a nice beach for me... the sea breeze coming in...!"
He groans, then flops his head against Inigo's shoulder.
"What a life!"
no subject
It's said with a smile on his face though, because Tidus at least doesn't seem super sad - more just floppy and whiny, which is a mood Inigo can very much understand when it comes to this train. But there's still a very genuine note in it. Because he knows about Tidus's fate now, knows that he'd just stop existing the moment he'd be disconnected from this train. And while Inigo hopes to still find a solution for that, it is just Tidus's reality for now.
This is all he has. And so things deserve to be better right now.
Inigo moves his arm to be able to ruffle the hair of that head flopped against his shoulder.
"But hey, at least we got this neat blitzball thing! You know, I'm really glad to be able to actually see all of it, even if I'm still not very good at following it. If anything, it's just nice to.. to see you."
Which probably sounds dumb - he sees Tidus every day, after all! - but.. you know what he means, dude!!
no subject
It's a bit of a joke, but also not - because apparently, someone is forgetting or underestimating just how often he speaks about blitzball for it to be a part of his identity. Even if watching the games now have that sad note to them, of how detached he's become from that life. A life that was all he knew, and now...
"So, when'm I going to see a younger you then? Oh, royal people have big paintings, don't they? Is there any of you?"
--But nevermind all that sadness, as Inigo has reminded Tidus of the existence of royal paintings. He's seen them, they're things in the movies!!
