Sorry Always Seems the Hardest Word

CW: None, language is a given

[For Tony, Ash and Renee: Mid-Morning 18]
After the council meeting, Tony had approached Ignis and requested that he let Tony and Ash approach Renee. There were a few things he wanted to talk to her about anyway and, frankly, he wasn't sure Ignis would be able to admit his team had needed help.
So mid-morning on the 18th, Tony found Ash and sought out the young redhead who had done so much for the mission. He spotted her in the dining car and waved in greeting. "Hey Renee, mind if Ash and I join you? You've not been an easy person to find the last few days. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were avoiding me." He, of course, knew this to only be a joke. Why would she be avoiding him?
[For Tony and Ignis: Mid-Afternoon 18]
Tony had opted after the awkwardness in the luggage carriage to give Ignis a chance to cool off. He didn't know if the man would see it that way, but he hoped for the best. When he spotted him in a quiet carriage, he tapped on the door and gave the other man a weak, forced smile. "May we talk?"
[For Tony and May: Over dinner]
It had been a couple days since he'd reacted so poorly to the news of his fate and he needed to set things right with the person who Peter held in even higher esteem than himself- May. So, he invited to have dinner with her. He'd roped someone else into dealing with the meal prep and clean up for this meal. He'd already done his share for the day. Instead, he'd made an effort to set up the table, make iced tea with some berries to sweeten it, and freshen up. She was important, after all.
[For Tony and Peter: Late night dessert]
It had been a long day, but one of those types you had trouble winding down from. He needed to talk to Peter and wasn't all that sure how to do it. Obviously, the right decision then was to seek him out late in the evening when the majority of the train had already gone to bed.
He'd poked his head into the dresser carriage and said quietly (knowing Peter would hear him) 'ice cream'. He hadn't even waited as he headed to the kitchen, knowing the boy would follow.
[For Tony and Reigen: Sometime on Basoon 20]
He felt bad about what had gone down when Ignis and he had been caught by Reigen in the luggage car. He knew what he'd said to the young man wasn't deserved. As he started grumbling about where the little bugger was, he finally found him in the game car.. playing Jenga by himself. Oh the poor bastard.
"Hey, take this, I'm tired of carrying it for you." Or maybe he should've used a more polite greeting. It was Tony, what did you expect?

[For Tony and Reigen: Sometime on Basoon 20]
He felt bad about what had gone down when Ignis and he had been caught by Reigen in the luggage car. He knew what he'd said to the young man wasn't deserved. As he started grumbling about where the little bugger was, he finally found him in the game car.. playing Jenga by himself. Oh the poor bastard.
"Hey, take this, I'm tired of carrying it for you." Or maybe he should've used a more polite greeting. It was Tony, what did you expect?

If only he could fake innocence better. "He didn't offer that. I asked for it, but he hadn't said he would keep his mouth shut. So I asked him if I needed to threaten him not to say anything that might hurt your reputation. So really, I only threatened him for like.. thirty seconds, tops. That's almost like not threatening him, right?"

A heavy sigh was the response to Tony's words. "You threatened him to protect my reputation.. but I'm sure he couldn't answer right away because of the shock." It wasn't every day anyone expected to see something like that.
"I would think finding privacy somewhere would be in order." He thought a moment. "We may not be the only ones in need of it as I'm sure there are other..people on the train with similar situations." He'd almost said couples but stopped himself.
Looking at the older man, Ignis lifted a hand to touch the side of Tony's face, concern evident. "Are you sure you're ready to talk to Peter about this?"
no subject
"I tried not to be too mean about it. I just wanted him to snap out of it and give me his word. When he did.." He shrugged. No harm, no foul. "I honestly like the fellow. He's turning out to be quite reliable. He's been there for me a number of times."
"What do you propose? That we ask the conductor if he could give us a car simply for hooking up with the other passengers?" As flippant as that answer was, he was actually all ears on what Ignis thought they should do. He'd be willing to do what he could to make this easier. On everyone. "Besides the obvious, who else do you think are hooking up on here?" He knew it wasn't Peter and Gwen. He'd be shocked if he heard they'd even kissed. Peter was so uncomfortable about those things.
It made him sigh when Ignis got much more serious. He shook his head. "I'm not sure, but I don't want to chance him finding out from someone else. I don't think he'd be put off by me being with a man, but he knew my wife. Don't worry though. I think he'll be fine with it." He considered that a moment. "It might help if the two of you could spend some more time together or find something you have in common."

"Reigen seems to be a good man, especially if he's willing to keep us a secret. Please try to refrain from threatening him again." Ignis sighed.
Tony got yet another sigh. "I've no idea who's hooking up as you call it. But surely not all the cars are being used and more do seem to get added on." He shook his head. "I suppose barring that, I shall simply be forced to lock you up with me in the bathroom to take a shower every night." His eyes locked with Tony's. "Don't think I won't."
"It's a wise course of action." Ignis leaned forward and placed a kiss on his lover's forehead and then drew back. "I would like to get to know your son better, but for the first few times I would request you presence with us to ease any awkwardness." Especially after the kid found out.

As though it were a great inconvenience, he sighed. "Fine. But I need at least three people on the train I can threaten to take his spot." All jokes aside, he was taken back but pleased to hear Ignis' solution. "And.. are we saying to hell with the roommates or are we trying to avoid them seeing us do this?" He needed to know since he was absolutely taking Ignis up on this! "Please say you will."
His lips curled in a brighter smile with that kiss. Not even Ignis getting nervous about Peter could take it away. "Of c- you know, why don't rope him into games tomorrow? I told May I'd have dinner with her tonight but I can likely get a chance to talk to Peter after that."

He thought the situation over about the shower. "I don't mind if they see us on our way to the bathroom, but I'm most certainly locking the door. And I can't vouch for how silent one of us will be." There was a pointed but pleased smile at Tony when Ignis said this. He wasn't sure how his roommates would take this, but if Ignis could do his usual peacemaker thing and find a time that would work for the other parties involved, it would go over well. A devious smile appeared and the advisor leaned forward, gently rubbing their noses together. "That is most certainly a promise that I will."
Looking uncertain but determined to help with Peter, Ignis nodded. "I can play card games and video games. Will that work do you think?"

"Come on. Let's see if one of our rooms are unoccupied." He playfully swatted Ignis' rear as he got them both back to their feet. He debated about keeping the other man's hand in his, but he decided to keep up with whatever they were doing, he shouldn't. However, as soon as he had him in the shower, all bets were off.
"Whatever, we'll figure it out." His mind was no longer on what might happen tomorrow. It was very clearly focused on the present or near future.

Moving at the playful swat to his bottom he got up and walked with his lover to the shower. Grabbing some clean clothes, Ignis hurriedly got into the bathroom. Tony seemed distracted or dismissive of his suggestions regarding Peter but the advisor wasn't worried.
They'd figure it out. Together.
