What: Spark being introspective while trying to pretend he's still just... Spark

Spark often claimed that he slept through missions to explain why he was absent from them, so he was free to have Gar or Privateer Pirate show up. But this time he actually had slept. He'd been sleeping a lot since that world with the fake lives, that one that felt so much like a storm from Nautilus.

But he was....

Lonely. That was it. He was lonely.

He was more settled now than he had been after the fish world, but he was still barely eating and avoiding people. Or had been. He just...

He wished Adrien would show up here. Or The Doctor would know who he was. Rose. Nino. Connie. Nita. Kirika. Dominic. Greg. Donovan. Luna. He'd even take Jacob or Gabriel at this point, though each had their issues. Of course if he was bothering with wishing... Quilt.

He shook himself and walked through the train, looking for someone who needed a cat to snuggle with, or tell their problems to. Or a friendly face from Nautilus, since none from his real home or Paris were here...

“You’ll have to use Bending to disguise yourself, since your sleeping self is there.”

Link half-smiled. “That’s one of the reasons I haven’t gone back to Hyrule for some time. I don’t want to be a stranger in my own home.”

"Nah, there are lots of orange cats on my world. I don't need you to Bend me a disguise." Plus he is totally planning on outing himself as soon as he gets there anyway. Not like he could keep a secret from Dominic or Miranda. Even without his powers, Dominic was too sharp to be fooled that easily.

"It'll be fine." He was sure it was. "My world is really well protected against stuff like that." By Miranda and Luna and Dominic and countless others. They just proved it.

"I'm not sure I believe you. You aren't being honest with me about your abilities, and, while I'd gladly risk my life for the sake of your world and your friends---I'm not willing to risk your world for the sake of a joke."

Link took a deep breath. "I'm a sap, not a moron."

"I'm a cat. My abilities are bad puns and eating fish. And it'll be a really good joke, I'm sure."

Link gave Spark a look. He wasn't buying what you're selling, cat.

"No joke is worth the risk of destroying a world."

"Again, it won't be destroyed! You're not listening," he said with a huff.

"I'm listening, Spark, but, I'm still an Ashura. I have to take that role as seriously as I take being the Hero of Time. There's weight with those responsibilities."

"You need to take some things LESS seriously. Let someone else carry things for once, kid. You're going to break your back trying to do it all alone."

"I take things less seriously and people will die." He hesitated before adding, "I don't mind the weight. It's why I was born."

"Oh come on. Even Dominic knew how to take a break sometimes. Miranda too."

“I do take breaks. But, every world is different.”

And he’d been chewed out by Navi for some of those breaks.

"Exactly. And mine is safe. It's not like I'm suggesting we go to Adrien's world. Or the Doctor's. Those worlds seem to be a mess. But those worlds don't have the Deegans to keep them safe."

“Sounds like I’m not needed.”

"Sure you are. How else am I supposed to get there?"

Ah, there was the truth.

“Spark, I’m sorry. I know what it’s like to be homesick. I even know what it’s like to feel that way at home. But, I can’t risk innocent people. I’m not even sure I could get you safely off the train.”

He paused. “And I frankly think you’re still lying to me about a lot.”

"You need their help" he said, flatly. "It'll do you good." he flopped onto his side. So he was lying, without admitting to lying.

Link's expression softened slightly. "That's nice of you, but, I'm really not in need of help. Not if you're going purely on the fact I mourn people I couldn't save and honor their memory in my own way."

"Going based on the fact that you've only ever met one Deegan. Even Curufin has met two of us!"

“I don’t need help. But, thank you."

Link ran a hand through his hair. "I....don't know who Curufin is."

Spark just stared at him. "I thought everyone on the train knew Curufin!" he said, startled enough to not pun for the moment. He... was going to have to introduce them, apparently.
